Chapter 1: And we want to know
It was a quiet summer morning...And it should have been. The defenses outside have been killing off zombies for the longest time. We don't know when the shooting stopped, but god damn, it was like rain patting on a window to my group. We slept so softly without worry, and it's been days, maybe even months, ever since we've done that. I can't even remember anymore. Then we heard it..The radio beeped to life, as all of us, as groggy as ever, nearly jumped sky high. "Guys, you might wanna see this..."
My crosshairs were focused on the most peculiar target I've ever laid my eyes on. I sent a hawk up there to scout out game, and it dove down on these...ponies. I wasn't sure why my hawk had dove on a bunch of little ponies, but then I started to realize why, as their color came into view.
These were the strangest animals I had ever met. Some had wings, some had horns on the tips of their foreheads, and I could only identify two that had nothing too notably different (except their colors, for obvious reasons.) They were so...well...colorful. There was an entire array of colors, ranging from Blue, to Yellow, to Pink, to Orange, White, and Purple. It wasn't normal, and they look very confused...
If I hadn't known better, I would have said that they all look like they were new to all of this...But there's just no way they can pop out of the open without any kind of knowledge of what's going on...right?
I had to make a decision, and I couldn't make it on my own, so I radioed up the gang. They would arrive in approximately one minute and 32 seconds, without delay, of course. I kept my crosshairs focused on the one that I thought was the leader. They wouldn't dare think to split up from the leader. It would be borderline insanity if they did, just like how I think it's borderline insanity that I'm perfectly okay, with a bunch of brightly colored unicorns and pegesai to just be walking around in the middle of an apocalypse, but that's what happens when you have to take pills every now and then. You just start to trip out.
I hit my head, as a reminder to keep it together. I clenched up tightly on the trigger, and aimed in the correct area, incase something happens that requires these ponies to be...
Disposed of...
Not that I want to or anything, but in this world, it's either hang on to your morals and die, or do whatever it takes to survive...
Yeah, I should probably stop playing video games...It's not good for my health or my mind...
Suddenly, my hawk flew up and hit my sniper's barrel from below. I reflexively took a blind fire shot, and I heard a cry of pain. I quickly hid myself, and my hawk flew onto my lap.
"Gah! Scared the hell outta' me!" I scolded it. That's when James and the rest of his group barged in.
"What the hell happened?!" James almost screamed. I motioned for him to shut up and take cover, and everyone did. I sushed them, and I repositioned myself to see what had happened. After a small amount of time, I saw that I had hit one of the ponies. A pegasus to be infact. Right in the wing. It's probably not fatal, or at least I hope not. I cursed inwardly for my rash decision making, and motioned for James to look through the scope.
Reluctantly, he did, not knowing what he was getting into, as he gently nudged me aside to look into the scope. He froze up.
"What in the name of god are those?"
"Ponies..." I responded in the only sane answer I could give at the time. I moved him aside so that I can see if I had attracted any attention, and man, that was quite a lot of attention I got. I could almost see a swarm of undead coming in my peripheral vision, but it was just fear swelling up in my brain. However, imaginary zombies weren't the only thing coming over. The ponies had most likely seen me. Probably the yellow one, since she...her...it... was looking at me directly. "We made eye contact. They're coming over." I said, warningly, as I hid my rifle. "Turn off the power..."
Jack, who was another one of the survivors in the group, was quick to protest. "Hey man, I don't think that's a good idea. Whatever those are, we might not be able to trust them.
"Exactly" I retorted. "They'll expect us to be here and use everything we've got. We're going to outsmart them. Now turn off the power. We know this place better than them so this won't be hard to do, now will it Jackie?" He hated it when I called him Jackie, so that's why I always call him that.
He groaned in annoyance, then sighed. "Alright man, whatever. You're the boss..." He said, as he walked off in anger.
