Find the Gem
Sparkler was board. She had cleaned out her little boutique, Carousel Couture. Now she had nothing to do. “I am sooo board! There is just nothing to do!” the pale blue unicorn cried. Suddenly there was a knock on her door. “Who dares to take me away from my BORDOM?!”
“Um, Sparkler?” a small voice barely audible, squeaked. “I’m sorry I bothered you, but…”
Sparkler opened the door and ushered the canary yellow earth pony in.
“Yes, Posey, you were saying?” Sparkler frowned.
Posey winced.
“Uh, it’s really not important…”
“POSEY” Sparkler snapped. “Tell me, tell me, TELL ME!”
“Ok, I just came to pick up my pale green tail ribbon.”
Sparkler levitated the ribbon with her blue magic and pushed it in Posey’s face.
“There you go. GOOD BYE!” Sparkler slammed the door.
Posey knew Sparkler was in one of her bad moods, which usually lasted for days, weeks, even. But how long was this one going to last? Posey really did not want to know.
The next day, Surprise flew on over to Sparkler’s house.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT?!” Sparkler screamed.
“Uh, never mind. I’m leaving now…”Surprise trailed off.
“You had to come to my shop for some ridiculous REASON!”
Surprise’s curly mane dropped flat and her ears drooped.
“I’m leaving now,” Surprise flew out quickly so Sparkler would not say any other mean things to her.
Later that day, Posey, and Surprise ran to Twilight’s psychologist’s office/library called the Fillydelphian Library of Psychology.
“Twilight, TWILIGHT, TWILIGHT!” Surprise screamed.
Twilight looked up from a book she was reading called, The Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide.
“Yes, Surprise,” she rolled her violet eyes.
“I did not mean to bother you, but SPARKLER IS GOING MAD!”
“WHAT?! AGAIN?!”
“Uh, yes.” Posey answered for Surprise.
“Oh, hi, Posey, I did not know that you were here.”
“I was here.”
“Yup, I know that…know.”
The two young mares told Twilight about how rude Sparkler was, and asked about how they could possibly help her.
“Alright girls, we have to stop her but, I’m not exactly sure how,” Twilight told them.
“She seemed really upset.” Posey squeaked. "I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with Sparkler."
Three weeks later, Firefly flew over to see if Sparkler was feeling alright.
“Hello, Sparkler?”
“WHAT IS IT?!” Sparkler yelled to the top of her lungs.
“Hey!” Firefly retorted. “I have not seen you in a while, so I came to see how you were doing. Sheesh.”
“WELL FINE GOOD BYE, FIREFLY!”
“Well, uh… GOOD BYE TO YOU, TOO!” And she stormed off.
Firefly flew into the Fillydelphian Library of Phycology, and slammed the door. “Sparkler is acting rude, AGAIN!”
"Exactly. She’s just being uh… Sparkler." Twilight put down the book she was reading. "I’m sure she’ll get over it, Firefly…"
"Well, Sparkler better stop soon before I do something!"
“And what exactly are you going to do?” “I’m not sure, but I’ll think of something!”
"I’m sure you will." Twilight sighed. "Now can I please get back to reading this book?"
"Oh, yeah, sure," the baby pink Pegasus turned to walk out of the library. "You can read now."
The next day, Sparkler was talking to herself in the mirror.
"What do you think you're doing?" said her reflection.
"What am I doing? What are you doing?!" Sparkler corrected her reflection.
"I'm not the one who is mean, it’s you."
“Take that back, REFLECTION!”
“I’m just being honest, Sparkler. It’s not my fault that you are being mean to everypony else, you are practically doing it to yourself.”
Furious and enraged, Sparkler stormed off from her mirror and sat on her bed. “Am I really being mean?” she asked herself. “Nah.” And contentedly she fell asleep.
In her dream, she kept on hearing ponies calling her name, in an angry tone. “Sparkler, you are mean!” one pony cried. “SPARKLER, SPARKLER, SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” another pony yelled.
Suddenly, she woke up. Why am I so mean? She wondered. Just why? She began to cry. “WHAT AM I EVEN DOING?! WHY?!” She sobbed. She buried her head in her pillows, and gave out a muffled cry.
Just outside the window, a small yellow filly unicorn and a yellow unicorn mare looked inside at Sparkler and frowned.
“You know what, Brights Brightly.” The mare asked.
“What, Sunset Shimmer?” The filly answered.
“My sister is really weird.”
“Yup, you said it.” And they trotted off.
Back in Sparkler’s room, she was still crying. “WHY! WHY! WHY!” Sparkler wiped a tear from her eye. “What is with ME?! I’m just so mean. And I don’t know why?!”
“What is wrong with that mare?!” Sunset Shimmer asked a squirrel. “I mean I know she’s my sister and all but really?”
The squirrel shrugged. Sunset rolled her eyes and sighed. “Why am I even asking you anyway? You are a squirrel, A SQUIRREL!” The squirrel shook his head in disbelief and scampered away. “Oh, whatever. Why do I even bother.”
The next day, Firefly and Surprise flew back to see Sparkler, again. “Sparkler! Don’t you want to come out and play?” Surprise asked.
“What?! Why would I even want to play?!”
“Well, it’s a nice day!”
“Sure, for you maybe!”
“Well, fine,” Firefly retorted. “We’re leaving.”
“We are?”
“Yes, we are.”
“Oooh, yeah. I mean, yeah we are.”
“FINE! JUST GET OUT!”
Twilight was read several books that day. Books on bad moods such as: How to Stop Pony Tantrums, 101 Ways to Stop Bad Attitudes, Bad Moods for Ponies, Get Rid of Tantrums in Just 10 Days, and No More Bad Moods, but none of them seemed to work whenever she tried them on the pale blue unicorn.
“Ugh!” Twilight groaned, when she tried all of the remedies. “None of these work. Now what will I do.”
At that moment, Twilight accidentally bumped into one of her bookshelves and a deep purple book with a gold lining fell on her head. Twilight’s eyes kind of Durped. “What is that?” she asked shaking off the dizziness.
She picked up the book with her magic. “Magical Mysteries of Bad Moods,” Twilight read. “Huh, I wonder what this is about.” And she began to read.
