NightStar the pegasus held Celestia's cold, dead body in his blood-covered hooves. On his lap rested the Princess' head, her once beautiful, waving mane now still and dull. Blood ran down from the wound in her neck onto Night's lap and the floor of her chambers. Night held a blood-soaked dagger in his right hoof. The dagger with which the Princess was murdered.

Night was innocent. He was one of the Princess' oldest, most loyal guards, a grey pegasus with a blood red mane and tail, and blue eyes as dark as the sky on that night. That horrible, tragic night. The night that the Princess was murdered.

He was simply doing his job as a guard, patrolling the castle at night. As he walked by the door to the Princess' chambers, he heard a struggle, and a short, muffled yelp. He quickly ran towards the door, stopping in a moment of hesitation. He knew he wasn't allowed in the Princess' chambers. No one was, except for maybe her younger sister, Princess Luna. He thought about alerting the other guards. He knew he should've done that. But he also knew there was no time. He stormed into the Princess' chambers. His eyes widened in horror, and what he saw would haunt him for the rest of his life. The Princess lay dead on the floor of her chambers, blood flowing from her neck, with a dagger buried deep inside it. There were no signs of intrusion. The murderer was gone. Night ran towards the Princess' still warm, dead body. He fell to his knees and lifted the Princess' head, putting it on his lap, calling out to her, hoping she would answer. He carefully pulled the dagger out of her neck and held it in his right hoof. He stared in horror, for the Princess was murdered.
