The year is 2048 - three years after a series of thirty-four portals opened all over the planet, connecting the human world to its very different twin in another universe. It has been three years since Earth and Equis made contact with one another.

The impossible has just happened.

Las Pegasus has just been struck by a storm that should not have happened, that the magic of pegasi should have prevented from ocurring. The very next day, a similar storm ravages Stalliongrad, equally unaffected by the efforts of weather pegasi. Less than a week later, Ponyville itself is struck by a dark, swirling funnel the likes of which its inhabitants have never seen before.

In the wake of these storms, the American government and Equestrian Crown agree to form a team of scientists, meteorologists, and thaumatologists - the best of each field. Their mission: to discover just what is driving these storms, and if possible, to find a way to bring the Equisian climate back under control.
