“Darkness is all I can see. It haunts me. I think I may be going insane. No, I need to focus! My name is… Jack. I live in… I live in... Equestria! Yes, that’s it. My name is Jack, and I live in Equestria. Mustn't let the darkness get me…”
But it did, and the normally calm and collected DJ Jack fell to the floor, passed out entirely. The past few days had finally taken their toll on the poor pony. Overloaded with things to work on for the upcoming Winter Broadcast Season, he had taken the easy way out. One amnesia potion down the hatch, and he instantly forgot what he had been doing. But this… how had he ended up in an abandoned castle?
After a few moments, he woke back up, slowly rising to his hooves. He still had trouble seeing, but that changed when he noticed the object in front of him.
“Holy smokes, a lantern!”
Slowly picking it up with his left forehoof, he attempted to turn it on with his right, only for it to sputter and produce no light.
“Aw, blasted lantern, always needing oil. For that matter, why is oil so sparse? Curse this economy!”
Putting his hatred for the current technology to the side, he turned to the left and began trotting down a dimly lit hallway. As if on cue a door opened up down the hall. Quickly looking for somewhere to hide, he took notice of another door to his left. Deftly throwing it open, he ran inside, slamming it shut behind him. He could faintly hear footsteps from the other side, but they quickly went away, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
It was a narrow escape, but he was still alive and kicking, and that was all that mattered. Those dang monsters weren’t going to get him. No way, no how. They were the one thing he remembered, and he was not going to let them get him. Slowly opening the door back up so as to peek outside, he saw that nopony was out there. He was alone once again. Good. Well, he’d honestly rather have someone alongside him, but being alone was preferable to being dead.
Quickly throwing the door open and walking out, he took a left, continuing down the hallway in a very slow manner. No need to rush and get hurt, after all. Nah, screw that. Swiftly, Jack galloped down the hall and straight into the doorway the monster had come from. Scanning his eyes across the room, he took notice of a note lying on a desk on the far end of the room. Quietly, he made his way to said desk and grabbed the note. But before he could read what was on it, he heard a crashing noise behind him. In an instant, he had turned around and was facing the door. What he saw horrified him beyond belief.
The door was being smashed down, and there was nowhere to hide. He had only one chance to survive. As soon as the door was smashed to pieces, he grabbed the chair that was in front of the desk and hurled it at the monster. He watched as it flew threw the air and hit the monster dead in the face, knocking it down.
“OW! JACK, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?!”
“Ch-chickee? W-what are you doing here?”
Hearing his girlfriend scream at him knocked him right out of the trance had been in. Looking around, he noticed that he was in his office on the top floor of the Radio is Magic Entertainment building.
“I WAS COMING TO TELL YOU THAT I LEFT A LIST OF GROCERIES FOR YOU TO PICK UP WHILE I WAS OUT WITH SAGE AND RAS!”
“G-groceries? That’s what was on the list?”
“YES, YOU DOLT!”
“Oh… hehe. S-sorry about the chair, sweetie…”
“YOU’RE GONNA BE SORRY WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF SLEEPING ON THE COUCH TONIGHT!”
As Chickadee stormed out of his office, Jack could think only one thing.
“I really need to stop playing Amnesia so much.”
