The price of immortality

My hooves are dirty, wet, tired.

I’m getting closer.

I may not come here in a long time, but I still remember how to reach the Ponyville Hospital. I feel the rain and the storm getting worse every step I get closer to main door.

And after a long travel, I’ve finally reached the main door.

While my hooves open the door I’m getting blinded. I’ve fell to the ground.

The last thing I remember is hearing the familiar voice of Nurse Redhealth saying: “Princess? Miss Sparkle? QUICK, WE NEED A LITTER HERE, CALL DOCTOR…”

I passed out.

“Umm h-hello?” said shyly a light blue coated colt.

“Hi”, I answered, watching as his face turned slightly red. I’ve seen him before, but I can’t remember his name. Maybe if I introduce myself…

“My name is Twilight Sparkle” I stood up. He is just a bit taller than me.

“Umm Miss-s Sp-parkle, would you... you like to… to… ummm…”

“Play at the park after lunch?

Somehow, I think I completed his question. And he seems relieved about it. He’s astonished but still waiting for an answer.

“Yes, I’d like to Blazblue”.

Yay, I remembered his name. And something more… He is a unicorn, attending classes with me at the Canterlot Magic School, and despite we’re not in the same class I remember pretty well his unique messy black mane.

After a shyly farewell, pretty much like the beginning of our conversation, I returned home, thinking about Blazblue’s proposition. We’re on vacations so I guess there’s no harm in doing something different.

As a wise pony said once: “If you want different results, do different experiments”

Cadance said it was ok. My parents are travelling right now, so Cadence keeps an eye on me while they are gone or my brother is in the Academy.

We played all the afternoon. I don’t know how Cadance doesn’t get bored while we played. Maybe because my brother always drop by, and they talk for a pretty long time now that I think about it.

Anyway, we agreed to meet next day at his place, to… to… umm… I don’t know… do stuff that most nowadays fillies do… I think this is an opportunity to learn more about it. But in my case, I prefer books.

Reading.

I love to read, no matter what is the book about. I had read novels about brave adventurers, encyclopedias written by great magicians, a thousand years pony legends, etc… practically everything I get my hooves on. It makes me think there are so many things I would like to do, and every once in a while it makes me wonder what will my cutie mark be like, and what it will represent…

Next day, my brother took me to Blazblue’s home. There I realized he’s the little brother of Shining Armor’s best friend. After they told us how they met and quickly became friends at the Princess Celestia’s Guards Academy we headed up to his room, while our brothers stayed at the living room talking.

He is an ordinary colt, or at least I say that because of his room. He’s got some ‘The Hoofbeats’ posters, tiny robots figures from a television show and over there… SUCH A BIG LIBRARY.

“I didn’t know you liked to read”

“Yeah, I like to”- he said with a more confident voice - “The only problem is that these books are a little more advanced than

the ones we read at school, so people think I don’t understand them and that I only watch them because of the pictures…”

“But… Do you understand them?”

“Yes, most of them are stories and novels, and there are some magic books over there…” he pointed with his hoof.

“Ooohhh…”

While I was trying to memorize some of the books’ names, he was fetching something from under his bed. It was a box.

“Have you ever played Equestria: Combat Evolved?”

“No. And I haven’t even seen one of… What is that anyway?”

“It’s a videogame console. C’mon, let me show you how it works”

We spend all the afternoon playing videogames.

Mmm… so this is what like videogames are.

Pretty good graphics, futuristic stories, buttons combinations. I didn’t know it was this fun. I could beat him like three rounds in “Equestria: Combat Evolved”… using a little magic of course.

Magic.

Magic is my favourite thing to do. And I can humbly say that I’m good about it. Although I’m just a filly and that I’m learning by myself, I already know how to levitate objects and some basic transformation spells. I wonder what Blazblue magic abilities are… Not that I’m jealous or something… I’m just… curious…

“Thank you Miss Sparkle for coming by and play, I hope you had a good time.”

“Indeed I had. And you can call me Twilight, there’s no need to be so formal”

“O-ok T-Twilight”

“Ready to go, Twily?”

“Yes. See you next week Blazblue”. I gave him a quick kiss on his cheek. On my way to catch up to Shining I could see his

face turning red.

“Bye M-Mr. T-Twilight, bye Armor S-Sparkle”
