Guardian of Harmony: Twilight vs Miradai
"Hello, Twilight Sparkle," says a unicorn mare with a maroon mane, a pale blue coat, and a cutie mark of three, white sparks jumping away from each other.
"Do I know you?" asks Twilight. She is at Sugar Cube Corner catching up with her friends before she has to go back to Canterlot when this mysterious unicorn came in.
The mare's horn glows angrily. She summons forth a flame, blasting everything in front of her in a torrent of fire. Twilight casts a forcefield around her and her friends just as the fire smothers everything around them.
"What's your deal?!" Rainbow Dash rushes her.
With a glint in her eye, the unicorn produces a white box out of the air. Rainbow Dash foolishly flies into it, trapping herself in the box. It glows a bright orange color--the magic of the unicorn mare--and folds itself in half over and over until it becomes an insignificant speck.
Everypony gasps. "Let her go!" Twilight stomps on the ground.
"Mmm, no." The unicorn smirks.
"What do you want? I don't even know you."
"But I know you, Twilight, prodigy of the Princess and bearer of Magic: one of the Elements of Harmony."
Twilight's eyes widen. "How do you know all that? Who are you?"
"My name is Miradai, and that's all you need to know."
"But why attack us?"
Miradai giggles in response. "Evil doesn't need a reason. It just is what it is."
Twilight readies herself to defend her friends and her home. There is something different about this particular mare. Her magic feels strange, altered in some way. Twilight has never felt this kind of energy before. With little effort, Miradai has destroyed Sugar Cube Corner and used a spatial alteration spell to trap Rainbow Dash. These are very advanced spells. It took Twilight forever to master similar spells, and she still has trouble with them. Twilight knows Miradai will be difficult to deal with. "Hey, girls."
"Yes, Twilight," says Rarity.
"What's up, Twi?" asks Apple Jack.
"I want you all to go to the library and get the Elements."
"No, we're not going to leave you Twilight," says Rarity.
"You have to go. If we all go, then she'll just follow. I have to stay here to buy you girls some time."
"Will you be okay?" asks Apple Jack.
"I'll be fine, just go," says Twilight.
"Alright ya'll, let's go. The faster we get the Elements of Harmony, the faster we can be rid of Miradai." Apple Jack gallops away, leading the charge to retrieve to Elements of Harmony. Twilight smiles. What her friends don't know is that Twilight has sent the Elements to Canterlot for safe keeping. She doesn't want to put her friends in unnecessary danger. Miradai may be strong, but she's no alicorn. Twilight believes she can handle her on her own, so once all of her friends enter the library, a fail safe spell will activate, trapping them inside until Twilight goes to deactivate the spell.
Now it's only a matter of getting Rainbow Dash there too. Twilight looks at the white speck holding her, then at Miradai. She hasn't done anything and let Twilight's friends get to safety. "That's very noble of you, letting my friends get away."
"I want you at your full strength. They'll only get in your way, and that's no fun," says Miradai.
Twilight sneers. Miradai is purposely looking for a fight for no reason at all. That doesn't sit well with Twilight. There has to be a reason; there's always a reason for everything. Twilight glares at Miradai to try and decipher that reason. Maybe something in her eyes can give away her true intentions.
Miradai's eyes flicker away from Twilight's gaze which causes Twilight to look away for a brief moment. Taking advantage of the small window, Miradai teleports to Twilight. The explosion of Miradai's re-entry into physical space knocks Twilight back. Miradai creates a ball of fire and has it chase Twilight. It hits her, bursting upon impact. A shower of fire and sparks rain upon Ponyville. Many thatch roofs around the blast radius catch fire, sending the residents of those houses scurrying away.
Miradai stares into the blaze she caused. She knows that it won't be that easy to vanquish Twilight. "Come out Twilight. I can smell your fear." A flash of purple light in between two buildings draws in her attention. "There you are."
Guiding the flames with her horn, she floods that area in an inferno. The stone walls of the houses crack in the intense heat and anything combustible turns to ash. Behind Miradai enters Twilight from a teleportation. She is with a few other ponies she rescued from the fire attacking their homes. Miradai scowls at the ponies Twilight saved. They're just more ponies getting in Twilight's way. A strange white aura swirls around Miradai. It draws in a steady wind causing the fire to dance more angrily.
The energy suddenly expands. It passes through Twilight as she isn't even there, but when it hits other ponies, the wave turns them to stone. Each pony is encased, freezing their terrified faces in place. The wave continues to expand, disappearing once it reaches the edge of Ponyville. "There, now no pony will get in your way."
"Why do you want to fight me? I never did anything to you!"
"Does it look like I care?! I want your blood!"
Twilight recoils at Miradai's venom in her words. She really wants to kill Twilight, but that doesn't answer the question of why. I have to end this quickly Twilight thinks to herself. She gathers a ball of purple magic around her horn and launches it at Miradai. It flies as fast as an arrow towards her, but Miradai unflinchingly catches it with her own magic. The ball hovers at eye level in front of Miradai's face. She opens her mouth and begins to eat the energy, chewing on it as if it were a physically solid snack.
Twilight scrunches up her face in disgust. "What are you?"
Miradai finishes her meal, swallowing the last bit of Twilight's magic down her slender throat. "I'm your doom."
