When an enemy invasion threatens Equestria, Spike volunteers to fight for the Royal Guard to protect his family and friends, and hopefully show Rarity how mature he is.

However, he soon begins to realize there's more to life and growing up than he thought. And through a series of letters exchanged between him and a certain white unicorn, he learns a lot more about what it truly means to love someone.
