Five Colts, One Direction
Louis's Love for the Show
Load Full Story“Ugh, you’re gonna cheer for me like that?” questioned Rainbow Dash. “Louder.”
“Yay.”
“LOUDER.”
“YAY.”
“LOUUUUUUUDEEEEEEEEEER!!!!” Fluttershy took a deep breath.
“Yaaaaaay!” Rainbow Dash fell to the ground in disappointment. “Too loud?” Fluttershy asked.
Louis was chuckling to himself as the theme song began. That Fluttershy always got to him. His smile disappeared as he quickly looked around. Luckily, everyone was busy doing their own thing. Zayn was practicing the chorus of a new song with Liam. Harry was on Skype with some lady friend and Niall was raiding the fridge again. Lou relaxed and continued watching the episode.
He gave the show a try when he saw a trailer for a documentary based on “bronies,” a male fanbase for the show that was aimed for little girls. A surprisingly large amount of people didn’t like these viewers and were bashing them. This got to Louis. True, he found it weird that adult men were watching such a show, but he and his boys were no stranger to hate either. There were far too many times where people bashed on their Twitters, spread nasty rumors to tabloids and even went as far as to planning to physically hurt them. “If no one gives anything a chance,” Louis thought, “then how will we learn to accept one another?” His train of thought broke when Pinkie Pie was dancing in a library. What was that earth pony doing anyway? Wasn’t this video supposed to be about-
“Hey Louie!” Harry shouted, scaring Louis and causing him to nearly drop his tablet. “Someone wants to talk you.”
“Hi Louie,” came a voice from the computer.
“Hello Lizzie!” Lou greeted back.
“What are you doing Louie?” Harry asked. He picked up the tablet. His eyebrows furrowed and looked at his friend in disappointment. “Really Lou? Really?”
“Yes Harry, really,” Lou replied giving his best smirk.
“What’s going on there?” Lizzie asked. Harry turned Lou’s tablet to the front of the webcam. It was at a frame where Fluttershy had landed at the library’s window.
“This is what Louie does in his spare time now.” A high squeal came from Harry’s laptop.
“Lou, you’re a brony?!!” Lou smiled uncomfortably.
“N-Not exactly,” Louis stammered. It wasn’t like he was lying. He didn’t have any “pony merch” as the documentary called it, or any “feels” for the show. Still, he had to admit that the show caught a little more than his attention.
“Aww,” whined a disappointed Lizzie, breaking his train of thought.
“Don’t be sad, Lizzie!” Louis pleaded, “It’s a pretty good show!”
“So you do like it,” Harry mused.
“It’s okay. Never said I loved it.” Louis defended.
“Whatever makes you feel better Louie.” Harry took his laptop before Louis could protest. “Lizzie darling, we have to go prepare for tonight.”
“Alright,” responded Lizzie. Have fun you guys! Bye!”
~~~~~~~
“Honestly, Lou,” Harry commented as he shut his laptop down. “This pony thing… It has to stop.”
“Does it?” asked Louis a little too innocently. A brilliant idea sprung into his head as he went behind Harry and wrapped his arms around the other’s chest. “Why? Is my Harr Bear jealous that I pay more attention to it than him?”
“AM NOT!” Harry quibbled back, getting out of the hug and tackling his friend to the ground.
“Oi, get a room you two!” said a voice. The two looked up to see Niall, Liam and Zayn rolling their eyes and shaking their heads. After getting up, Harry started to justify himself.
“I was just telling Little Lou here that he needs to stop watching that pony show.”
“My Little Pony?” asked Liam.
“You know about it?” responded a surprised Louis.
Liam shrugged. “I understand the pony memes on Tumblr.”
“You’re not helping!” Harry interjected. He dragged Louis to a nearby sofa. “Lou, this is an intervention. You need to stop watching it.”
Louis was starting to get a little irritated. “I will…”
“Yes, final-”
“If you can give me a legitimate reason as to why I shouldn’t.”
“WHAT?!” Harry yelped.
“You heard me: Why?”
“What do you mean why? It’s for LITTLE GIRLS, Lou! You can’t honestly tell me that you ENJOY watching such crap-”
“How would you know if it was ‘crap’ if you haven’t even watched it?!”
The two continued bickering endlessly. A confused Niall and Zayn looked at Liam.
“Uhhh… Should we do something?” asked Zayn.
Liam shrugged again. “If you wish.”
Zayn whispered something into Niall’s ear. He nodded his head in agreement. Zayn held up three fingers, then two, then one….
“WILL YOU TWO JUST SHUT UP ALREADY?!!” Zayn and Niall yelled in unison. Harry and Louis jumped in surprised Niall was the first to speak up.
“Honestly, Harry, who cares if Louis watches something different? It’s not bothering us, and it’s not bothering the fans. Let him be, alright?”
“As for you, Lou,” Zayn continued, “if you want a legitimate reason as to why you should stop watching for now…” He pointed at the clock. “We have an hour to get ready and get into the limo before our concert starts.” He clapped his hands. “Alright One Direction, let’s do this!” And to that he left the room. Following him was Niall and then Liam. Louis was getting up when Harry pulled him into a hug.
“I’m sorry, Lou,” Harry mumbled.
Louis grinned. “It’s alright. Now then: let’s put on the best opening concert ever!”
~~~~~~
“This was most likely the WORST concert opening ever.” Harry slammed the door to their hotel room open as he stormed in.
“Harry, what are you going off about?” asked Niall. “It was amazing! The lights were perfect, the outfit changes were spot on this time, and Zayn didn’t screw up on the guitar!” He mouthed a “sorry” to his black-haired friend who was glaring at him. “Now tell me: What went so wrong?”
Harry gave a death stare as Louis entered the room. “Ask. Him.” He seethed, slamming the bedroom door.
Niall beckoned Louis to sit on the couch. “What’s going on between you two?” he asked in a low, stern voice. Zayn and Liam were close to Niall to hear the story.
Louis sighed and rubbed his temples. “We were signing autographs and waving at fans. I was signing some on one side and he on the other. These two girls were asking me to sign for them and one of them asked if I could sign her shirt. I agreed and she turned around so that I could sign it. You three following so far?” They nodded.
“As she was turning I….”
“You….?”
Louis sighed. “I noticed her shirt had one of the characters from My Little Pony on it.” Zayn and Liam groaned, knowing where this was going.
Niall raised his hand for them to keep quiet. “What happened next?”
“I noticed the character and said ‘Hey, that’s a cool shirt!’ She and her friend were squealing over my compliment. I asked where they got it from. The girl’s friend explained that BronyCON-”
“Pardon?” asked Zayn.
“BronyCON. It’s this place where people that watch My Little Pony gather to share their appreciation for the show. Anyway, they were coming back from BronyCON and it turned out that many bronies were actually a fan of us as well. So I signed her shirt as ‘Here is a brohoof for you!’ Brohoofs are a sort of fist bump.” Louis shook his head. “Harry is mad because a lot of the fans in the front row were coming from BronyCON.”
Zayn and Liam started to laugh.
“That’s it?! That’s the reason?!!” asked Liam in between chuckles. Niall sighed and walked up to Harry’s door.
“Harry…. Is this true?”
The door slammed open, barely missing Niall’s face. “It is NOT true!!” He stormed up to Louis. “It’s his stupid bloody OBSSESSION with this damned show, and now more and more people are joining this cult-like fashion!”
Louis rubbed his temple again. “How many times do I have to TELL YOU-”
A low rumbling caused the walls to shake.
“Uhhhh….. Guys?” Niall asked.
The two continued bickering while Zayn and Liam were trying to pry them apart from each other. The rumbling grew louder.
“Guys.”
“GUYYYYYS!!!!!”
~~~~~~
Pain shot everywhere in Louis’ body. “Is…. Is everyone okay?”
“Y-Yeah…. It’s smoky though,” commented Liam. “I can’t see anything.”
“Neither can I,” Niall replied. “Zayn? Harry? You there?”
Groans were heard from the remaining two. Louis sighed from relief. They were alive. Hurt, but alive.
“Hey, the smoke is clearing a little bit!” Louis exclaimed. It was short lived as a sharp pain from his head cut off his cheer. He reached to rub the top of his head but something was blocking it.
Something pointy.
Louis froze. “This isn’t normal.”
He looked around. They weren’t at their hotel room anymore. There was a clear night sky. Small cottages surrounded the five boys. Peaceful sounds of crickets were heard. “This isn’t normal either…”
He turned again to find a fountain standing in front of him. With some courage he slowly stepped up to it. Taking a deep breath, he peered into the water to see his reflection.
A horn.
The pointy thing was a horn.
“I’m a…. I’m a unicorn!” Louis looked at himself with wonder before reality hit him.
“Oh no…. I’M A UNICORN.”
