It was a Friday night in early December. Applejack was sitting on the couch reading a book in the dark living room in front of a fire. She heard hoofs clicking on the hardwood floor behind her and looked up, startled. Pinkie was grinning at her as she walked across the room.

Applejack nodded and shivered. Pinkie pulled a blanket over them as she snuggled into Applejack's side and wrapped her foreleg around her, holding the farmer’s drained body close. Applejack closed her eyes again, breathing in the smell of Pinkie's mane.
"Can I give you your Christmas present now?" Pinkie asked, softness replacing the coyness in her voice.
"That wasn't it?" Applejack smiled between deep breaths.
Pinkie giggled. "That was part of it."
"If the other part is anything like the first part… I think I might need to rest a little while first, sugar." said Applejack, eyes still closed.
Pinkie let out a soft giggle. "No, it's something you can unwrap," she reassured.
