MLP: Friendship is Reality
After a wonderful vacation in Manehattan, Twilight and Rarity stood in the hotel lobby waiting for the rest of the gang. Pinkie came hopping towards them with Fluttershy gliding behind. Rainbow Dash and Applejack seemed to be racing to the lobby. Applejack hurdled luggage…and other guests of the hotel while Rainbow agilely dodged the many chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Somehow they all arrived unharmed.
“Ah dunno ‘bout y’all, but ah wish there was a quicker way home,” Applejack hinted, breathing heavily as she looked towards Twilight.
“Oh no, I’m not going to attempt a long distance mass teleport again after what happened last time,” Twilight refused as she began to think back to that hectic day.
It had been several months back and they were late to an urgent meeting with Celestia, so Twilight gave her new mass teleport spell a shot. Upon exiting the teleportation bubble, they noticed they weren’t at the castle. They had somehow teleported to the moon. Luckily, Twilight was able to return them to Equestria before they suffocated, but she felt that had been a one in a million chance. Therefore, she vowed never to use it again.
“Twilight, are you sure you won’t reconsider,” Fluttershy said timidly with a look Twilight had a hard time saying no to.
“Don’t give me that look,” Twilight stammered, “Do you want to end up on the moon again?”
“Do you really think that could happen again,” Fluttershy asked, wiping the look off her face.
“Well…no,” Twilight said, “but as I haven’t really been able to practice it, I have no idea how to properly control it.”
“Oh Twilight,” Rarity pleaded, “Be a dear and try it once more.”
“Ooo ooo, are you talking about when we went to the moon,” Pinkie butted in, “Can we go there again sometime?”
“Fine,” Twilight gave in, ignoring Pinkie’s question entirely, “I’ll try teleporting us back to Ponyville.”
“Rainbow Dash,” Applejack yelled up to the distracted Pegasus, “Wer leavin’ now.”
She flew down and joined the huddle near the exit, ready for teleportation.
“Oh yea,” Rainbow dash exclaimed, “Let’s do this.”
“Shush Rainbow,” Applejack whispered, “Twi’s tryin’ to concentrate.”
Rainbow Dash went silent, waiting for Twilight to finish the spell.
“Is everypony ready,” Twilight asked after a moment.
They all nodded and she released the spell, enveloping them in a teleportation bubble. In an instant, the bubble burst and they were……….still in the hotel lobby.
“Well, that didn’t work at all,” Twilight sighed.
“Again, again,” Pinkie yelled.
“No,” Twilight said, “We are walking back to Ponyville.”
“Last one back is a rotten dragon egg,” Rainbow Dash exclaimed as she flew out the door, into a four lane…divided…highway, “Whoa.”
She shifted her flight path away from the oncoming traffic, narrowly dodging her new life as a hood ornament. The rest of them heard her and went to check it out.
“Whoa nellie,” Applejack exclaimed as she reached the door, “Where are we?”
The others exited behind her and slowly came to a realization that they were no longer in Equestria.
“Well…are you happy,” Twilight said angrily, “I have no idea where we are, Rainbow was almost hit by whatever that thing was…”
“A car,” Pinkie interjected.
“Yeah, a car,” Twilight continued, “Wait, how do you know what that is?”
“I’ve been here before silly,” Pinkie said in a way that suggested she should have known that, “This place is called Manhattan. It is this world’s equivalent of Manehattan.”
“So we are in the same place and time, but just a different dimension,” Twilight said inquisitively, pondering the weight of the situation. Yes, she was scared out of her mind, but the knowledge hoarder inside wanted to know all about this place.
“This is…the… worst… possible… thing,” Rarity cried as she magiced a fainting couch from a nearby store. It came crashing through the storefront window, shattered glass flying everywhere as it made its way towards her.
They all rolled their eyes as she swept the glass off and lay down.
“Hold on,” Twilight exclaimed, “If you’ve been here before, why do those weird creatures seem to fear us?”
“Those weird creatures are humans,” Pinkie replied, “They fear you girls, not ‘us’. Don’t include me in this. I know everypony on this planet.”
“You mean everyone,” Applejack corrected her.
“No, I mean every pony, because we are ponies and we use pony regardless,” Pinkie argued.
The cars were honking, the humans were screaming in fright and suddenly an airliner flew low over the city. It was all quite distracting.
“Argh, I can’t think with this noise,” Twilight yelled as she created a magic bubble that enveloped them all in silence, “Ah, that’s much better.”
“It sure is,” Pinkie started, “When it’s noisy, my ears hurt and when my ears hurt, I can’t think and when I can’t think, I can’t talk…”
“Pinkie,” Twilight yelled, cutting her off.
“Oops, sorry,” Pinkie apologized.
“So, what do you suggest we do now,” Twilight asked, beginning to calm down a bit.
She had asked for suggestions, but was silently formulating a plan for their return. What she got was a torrent of unintelligible shouting. She had had enough. Her friends got her into this mess and now they were beginning to drive her crazy. She needed time alone to think, so she decided to place a magic waypoint and teleport elsewhere. Twilight quickly fired up the spell and released it. In the frenzy of her rage, she had accidentally teleported her friends all over the city.
“Oh dear,” Twilight sighed, knowing she’d made a huge mistake.
She tried to trace the magic trails left by the teleportation, but it was of no use. They had already faded away.
