Celestia looked around her throne room an depressing sigh. The room was spotless except for two things. One, a large hole still greeted all who came into the throne room and two, the cocoon that held her captive still hung high above the throne. Her horn glowed with its golden aura as she ripped down the wretched abomination she had to call a prison. Slowly forming the green shell into a ball she tossed it outside through the hole and sent it flying into the abyss that lie below Canterlot. "A bit of a convenience having that hole there...at least for that one thing." She shook her head and left the room. "I certainly hope the fix that soon." Then she heard it. A small whimper. She looked around the halls till she discovered a small wastebasket,that she had told the cleanup crew to get hours ago,moving. She took cation to this as she feared it could possibly be one of the changeling hiding to attack. Carefully she lifted up the basket and saw a small white earth colt sobbing quietly. "Oh..oh my, you poor thing." She gently stroked his pitch black mane. The colt shrieked and scooted into the wall behind him looking at her with his large bloodshot emerald eyes. "No young one please do not be afraid. Do you not know who I am ?" The terrified pony shook his head "I am Princess Celestia." The child's rubbed his eyes and looked at her again. Then he finally spoke. "O...oh my mommy told me about you..." His voice was dry and uneasy as if he had been crying for hours...sad thing was he probably had been, maybe even longer. "I never seen you before though that's why mommy brought me along so I would get to see the three alicorn princesses." He coughed slightly and sniffled. "I wish I knew where my mommy was though I...I think she got taken away when the invasion happened..." Celestia looked at the colt, sadness filling up inside her. She smiled softly and lifted the colt to his feet. "Do not fret dear child I am sure she is looking for you right now." He smiled sadly at her "Now first things first. Can you tell me your name?" The colt pondered this for a second before nodding. "Good." Celestia chuckled slightly. "Now will you tell me your name?" The colt blushed slightly realizing she was asked that the first time. "I...I'm Obsidian.." He looked at her and smiled. "I am ten years old!" Celestia giggled slightly and smiled back. "Oh? Well then Obsidian. Might I saw that is a stupendous name for such a brave colt." Obsidian blushed yet again. "Now I have some unfortunate news for you." The white earth pony raised a ear in curiosity. "While your mother is being found you will have to stay at an orphanage." Obsidian backed away from the princess slowly and shook his head frantically. "Well there is no other option then that...I am sorry." Obsidian sobbed and nodded. Celestia sighed and smiled brightly "...I have an idea!" Celestia enveloped the colt in magic and shuddered dropping him and looking at him. Her eyes in a state of fear. "Y..you..well it seems my idea I had is for the best" "Is something a matter Princess?" Obsidian slightly tugged on her mane and she smiled at him. "No dear Obsidian nothing is wrong it appears my magic is still a little weak from the incident." Obsidian raised an eyebrow. "Anyhoof, Obsidian you will not stay at an orphanage instead you will stay with a very trustworthy and faithful student of mine in Ponyville..." She smiled at the colt. It's far too early to send a scroll to Twilight I'll just have to make a personal visit. "Come with me Obsidian we leave now." He nodded and followed Celestia outside. "Guard over here quickly!" Celestia shouted towards a nearby sun guard. He rushed over and knelled. "Yes my Princess?" He asked then looked at Obsidian. "What can I do for you?" "I require a chariot post hast. It seems I have to make a stop at Ponyville." She smiled at Obsidian then looked back at the guard. "How fast can you make this happen?" "Oh of course Princess...I can have the chariot and the pegasi ready in twenty minutes." Celestia nodded and the guard raced off to ready the ride. Celestia looked at the small colt. "Obsidian have you ever been on a chariot before?" He shook his head and Celestia grinned. "Well you're about to!" "Twilight...Twilight wake up it's like seven o'clock you're always up by now." Spike said as he shook the lavender mare. Twilight rolled over a snored loudly. Spike shook his head and sighed. "Oh my gosh! Twilight, Celestia just sent me an urgent scroll for you!" Spike shouted. Twilight struggled to get out of her covers and looked around frantically. "Seriously that's what it takes?" "Huh? Spike wheres the urgent message?" Twilight looked at her assistant with a puzzling look. "There is no message Twi. I just said that to wake you...whoaaaa" Spike was slowly lifted off the bed and put on the floor. "That's not funny Spike. Especially with what's happened." She sighed and smiled getting out of bed. "Now I am going to go by the bakery and get some breakfast. I want you to clean up understand?" "Yes mom..." Spike sighed and winced slightly as Twilight lightly punched his shoulder "Haha funny. Really though this place is a mess...guess I did a lot of reading last night.." Twilight blushed at the sight of books strewn about the library and notes piled upon her desk. "If you do it before I get back I'll see if Rarity can spare a gem." Spike eyes lit up and he grinned, "You're on Twilight!" He ran to a pile of books and started to pick them up. Twilight laughed and headed outside. "Pinkie what are you doing?" Twilight asked as she looked at her bubbly friend who was hanging upside down by a balloon string, "Duh Twilight isn't it obvious? I'm pretending to be Spider-Mare. You know...Spider-Mare Spider-Mare" Pinkie sang in her sing song voice. "Ummmmm no but I believe Spike has some of those comics. Anyhoof I need to pick up some things." Pinkie smiled and hopped off the string and nodded. "Okie dokie lokie Twi. So what can I get for you?" That was the thing about Pinkie Pie. Even if she was having a great time being Pinkie. When she had to do work she did it...sadly she still acted like Pinkie but one would rather have that then...Pinkamena. "Oh well can I have a blueberry muffin." "Muffinnnnnnn" A mysterious voice said. Twilight looked around and shrugged. "And can I have a Piece of apple pie?" Pinkie nodded and pulled out a bag. "Sure thing!" She put both items in the bag and gave it to Twilight. "Seven bits please." "Oh right...ummmm here." She handed her friend the money and smiled. "Thanks Pinkie hope you have a great day!" Twilight turned around and.."Ahh!" A gray pegasus floated right in her face. "Oh Derpy you scared me." "Muffinnnnnn" The clumsy mare said as she licked her lips "Pinkie get Derpy a blueberry muffin. On me." Pinkie nodded and tossed Derpy the muffin causing her to squeal in delight. "Oh thank you Twilight!" She eagerly ate the small pastry and smiles. "Mmmmm oh, I had almost forgot. Here Twilight." Derpy Pulled out a small package. "This came for you." "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" Twilight grabbed the postal and looked at it. "If this is what I think it is then I have to get home quick!" She put the package in her saddle bag and headed out the door. "Thanks again Pinkie and good seeing you Derpy." "Huh wonder what was in that package? What about you...ummmmm Pinkie?" Derpy looked around but Pinkie was nowhere to be found. "Pinkieeeeee" Suddenly Pinkie hung down from the ceiling behind Derpy. "Spider-Mare is here to save the day." She whispered then she pounced. "Oh I can't wait to open this!" Twilight raced home she was too distracted to notice Princess Celestia's chariot. "Spike guess what I got!" She stooped when she saw the Princess and a small colt. "Oh Princess I didn't know you were coming!" "My faithful student...we need to talk." Celestia patted the seat next to her and Twilight sat down."I'd like you to meet Obsidian." The small colt looked at Twilight and smiled. "Obsidian I'd like you to meet Twilight Sparkle." "H...hello" Obsidian said shyly "Well hi there...Princess what's going on?" Twilight looked at her teacher with concern." "I need you to take care of Obsidian. Until his mother is found." "Wait why not take him to the orphanage?" Obsidian hid under Celestia's tail at the word. "Twilight I want you to touch him with your magic." She obeyed and dropped the colt instantly. "That is why he must stay with you." "But Princess I can't!" Twilight got up and sighed. "What with the library and Spike and my letters to you I'm far too busy." "Twilight it does not matter who he stays with as long as he isn't in Canterlot." "Okay then lets see. Um how about Fluttershy?" "Fluttershy? Why Fluttershy?" "Well...she's the only friend I have that doesn't use magic, doesn't have a house in the sky and doesnt have someone living with her. Seems to me shes perfect right?" "Indeed it does seem this way...very well Twilight I shall go see Fluttershy." Celestia stood up and so did Obsidian. "When I return we have much to talk about." With that they left. "So when do I get my gem?" Spike asked "Huh?"Twilight looked at Spike and he shook his head. Meanwhile in a cave somewhere unknown "Dammit this shouldn't of happened...how did this happen?" A strange voice said with anger. "I do not know my queen." A changeling said as he bowed before Chrysalis "It's all that Twilight Sparkles fault! If she didn't rescue Princess Mi Amore Cadenza I would be ruling all of Equestria!" She sighed "Of course your highness..." "It does not matter soon I will be strong again and this time I will attack what hurts Celestia the most...her student." She laughed maniacally and her subjects stomped their hooves shouting. "Enough, you there!" Chrysalis yelled at a nearby changeling who trotted over to her and knelled. "Take a team and find some animals outside...there has to be something we can steal the love from." "So um what's Fluttershy like Princess?" Obsidian asked as they approached the house of the mare in question. "Hmmmm well for one she is the element of kindness so that's good...and she takes care of all the animals in Ponyville." "What about that little dragon Spike? Does she not take care of him?" "Oh no." Celestia gave a slight chuckle and smiled at Obsidian. "Spike is no animal...consider him Twilight's brother. He has been with her since the day he hatched." "Oh I see..." Obsidian stopped and looked at the door the Celestia started to knock on. "W..who is it?" A timid and frightened voice asked from inside. "Do not be afraid Fluttershy...it is me Princess Celestia." The door unlocked and the yellow pegasus smiled at the princess. "Oh I'm sorry Princess I had no idea you were coming," she looked down at Obsidian. "and who is this?" "No one knew I was coming Fluttershy. There is no need to apologize," Celestia placed her hoof on Obsidian's head and smiled. "this is Obsidian...he's going to be staying here for awhile." "Oh where is he staying?" "Here with you." "W...what Princess but I...I can't take care of a colt. You remember what happened when I watched over the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" "Indeed I do which is why you are perfect. You were able to watch the most active fillies I have ever met and when they sneaked out you took the risk of heading into the Everfree forest and even fought a Cockatrice. Most ponies wouldn't be able to do that...as I recall Twilight was turned to stone" "Yes Princess she was...may I ask why did you not take him to the Orpha..." Fluttershy saw that as she started to say the word Obsidian went to hide behind Celestia. "Oh I see..." " That and something else...something only me and Twilight know. I will tell you inside." "Oh of course." The three headed inside. "Wait you mean he..." Fluttershy asked looking at Obsidian "I believe so but I could be wrong...my magic is a bit distorted from my fight and so is Twilight's...but I would rather be safe and have him here then be practical and hold him in Canterlot." Celestia rubbed Obsidian head and smiled at him. "I agree...okay Princess I'll watch over him till his mother is found...how long should that take?" "Alas I do not know, but I will send Spike a scroll once a week for you giving you details of how the search is going." "Okay...well I hope we find her." "So do I Fluttershy..." Celestia got up and looked at Obsidian. "I must take my leave now so you be good for Fluttershy okay?" He nodded and smiled at Fluttershy. "It was good seeing you Fluttershy." "You too Princess. I hope you have a safe trip back." Celestia left the hut and Fluttershy and Obsidian stared at each other. "So um Obsidian what do you like to do?" "Oh well um I like playing outside...and I like um well thats really it I guess...Oh! I like making food like cookies!" Fluttershy giggled and nodded. "Well I have an idea...you help me feed my animals and we will make cookies. Deal?" "Deal! Where are your animals?" Obsidian looked around. "Most are outside but my actual pet Angel Bunny is right in there, Oh Angel." The white rabbit hopped in and looked at Fluttershy then pointed at Obsidian while he rapidly tapped his foot. "oh that's Obsidian he is going to be staying with us for a while." The Bunny shook his head and hopped off. "I um I think he likes you..." "Oh...ok" "So! Let's go feed those animals!" "Sure!" Obsidian jumped up and followed Fluttershy outside. "Whoa there's so many animals here!" "Indeed there are!" Fluttershy pulled out a bag and handed some food to Obsidian. "Now just feed the ones over there okay?" "Okay!" He ran towards the animals "Don't feed them too much!" I hope they find his mom. She thought to herself. "Obsidian! Obsidian I said not to much!"
