In the magical land of Equestria, home to the human race, there were 4 sub-races of humans, each with their own quirks, features, and flaws, what made them special is their history, a history that will now be shared.

The Arcanus, beings born of human form and pure magic, magic gave them knowledge, and they were the first to develop language and science, as well as the first to leave the reliance on instinct behind, magic acts like an energy that flows with the air like the atmosphere, and the Arcanus can harness it directly in raw form and shape it to their will. With a black star on the back of their right hand, the Arcanus use this symbol (like a unicorn's horn) as a vessel to manipulate magic, they were diplomatic and wise, and introduced their concepts of communication to the other 2 races, an odd (and sometimes funny) fact about the physiology of their stars is, the number of points on the star range from 3 to 100, not much is known about how much this affects, though studies have shown that the number of points does NOT correlate to the strength of their magic.

The Aegis, beings born of human form, birds, and magic, the magic allowed such a fusion to occur, and with it, they changed, with hollow bones, thin frames, and a deep seated tie with instincts, they were aggressive despite their fragileness, and communicated using various 'cave' noises, grunts, growls, shrieks, etc. While most of their animalistic instincts and even genetics have been left behind, such as males having brightly colored feathers to attract mates, mating seasons and rituals, and a few other things, involuntary actions like the flaring of the wings to make themselves look bigger in the presence of competition, and other wing things have survived the advancement of society. The span of their wings at full growth is always somewhat bigger than their height, many times those who are 5'0" to 5'7" have wingspan only 1 inch longer on either side, the lower limit of their height is much smaller than other races, 5'8" to 6'6" typically have wingspans between 6'6" and 7' even, the color of the feathers varies widely from aegis to aegis, but gone are the times that males were more bright and vivid and females were more muted and dull. Evidence also proves that aegis, being more in tune with instincts, can recognize emotions quite well.

The Geus, being born of human form, the earth, and magic, the magic that they have is less powerful, but more specialized than the others. Being born of the earth, they are extremely physically powerful, a proper representation is: imagine 2 Olympic gold medalists, one an arcanus, the other an aegis, they are gold medalists in many physical sports, average Joe geus guy, working an office job, comes into the game, the 2 medalists pale and collapse in comparison to average guy Joe geus. What little magic they have is towards nature, which is why they are the best at growing food, in the early times, they could be considered druids, living with the land, not beside it, not adjacent to it, WITH it, early communication consisted of animal sounds. A few reports show that a geus man once stole a bank, not robbed it, stole it, as in, STOLE THE WHOLE FUCKING BANK, he lifted it up off of the ground, shook out all the people, and ran off. Many towns founded by geus, despite what location they might be in, 9 times out of 10, there will be a farm of some kind near the town.

The Soverus, far from normal, the powers that be, Queen Faust and King McCracken, knew that the humans, with their destructive nature, would destroy themselves in the process of destroying everything else, so they created many avatars of power, beings of might and authority, who ruled the aspects of the world, from Celestia and Luna, of the sun and moon, to Morally, of diseases- I'm kidding, of morals, to Shaded and Miler, of darkness/lightness and technology, to even Arcana, Sora, and Gaia, of magic, the sky, and the earth. With the godly powers of the soverus, Celestia and Luna being the most diplomatic, they ruled over their mortal subjects, guiding them and protecting them. With the combined powers of all 3 races, great physical power, most of the time, the females can choose to be matronly or more lithe and regal. Their wings are built differently from an aegis, where as aegis would be like earth's birds, soverus would be like an angel, with wingspans often ranging from 7' even to 9' even, feathers large and sometimes ending with small curls, though the most common is a long oval shape. Their magic is, if pushed, about 1000 times more powerful than a normal arcanus, though the latter can push their magic into the triple digits.

Celestia and Luna, princesses of the land.

The people of the land, the arcanus, aegis, and geus.

It was a great place, almost perfect.

almost......

Long ago, in the mystical land of Equestria, there were 2 regal sisters who governed the land.

The older used her power to raise the sun in the morn and set it in the eve.

The younger used her power to raise the moon in the eve and set it in the morn.

They lived together in harmony, with their people, the humans, so bright, curious, and wide-eyed, yet at the same time content, foolish, and volatile.

One day, it was a *day*, the younger sister realized her contempt for her sister.

While their people worked and played in the day, they slept through her majestic night, ignoring its glories.

Hatred and evilness consumed the moon soverus, turning her into a wicked being of darkness who refused to set the moon.

Nightmare Moon.

Shocked by this development, the sun soverus pleaded with her sister, but when Nightmare Moon didn't comply, the sun soverus used the only other tactic she could think of.

The Elements of Harmony, relics of unimaginable power, the older sister used them all to banish Nightmare Moon to the very place she fought for, the moon itself.

Drained of her power and sealed away, Nightmare Moon would not return for another 1000 years, on the longest day of the year, she will escape.

She will enact her revenge, and shroud the land in an eternal night.

"HOLY SHIT! This isn't my math book." Derek Ganter shouted, setting the book aflame with his magic.

"Oh fuck, I'm probably going to have to pay for that." the Archmage worried aloud, running a hand across his face.

He was a decent sized arcanus, standing about 6' even, russet brown hair in a clean, short cut, though the back and front were slightly longer, he had a medium build, not too strong but there was some meat on his bones, a white shirt with red water designs on it covered his chest and upper arms, he had a C-oN-VeNieN-Ce brand watch, which not only told the time, but the day of the week, day of the month, the month, the temperature, and the season. Gray jeans on his legs, red all-stars on his feet, he had style.

Standing up, using his magic to clean off of his cutie mark, placed right below his left elbow area, it depicted a golden starburst symbol with a black brass knuckles to either side, showing that his talent was fighting magics.

Having fully cleaned his plain white shirt of the blood of a recent victim, he dropped the orb of red liquid onto the ground, stepping over the headless corpse of said victim, walking away and off to the library, he needed a new book.

"OMC, Derek, did you just kill that guy?" some annoying guy came up to him out of nowhere and asked that intrusive question.

"Shut up assclown, yes it was me, I'm the only murderer in the whole town, even Celestia knows that, I socked him in the face with the good old B.B. spell, he was trying to take my book, which I have to pay for since I accidentally burned it after realizing that it wasn't a math book." Derek explained, to anyone, even those who knew the context of the story, it would sound very confusing.

The annoying citizen left, and Derek walking his way to the library.

Something in his gut told him that today was not going to be a good day.

He might even need his AK, but probably not.

The library, and adventure, awaited him.
