It was a cold winter night in Equestria, and 8 months ago the kingdom got it's new princess, Princess Luna, a purple/blue alicorn with a light blue mane and tail. She was everything the King and Queen hoped for, besides their first born daughter Celestia, a white alicorn(like her father) with a light pink mane and tail, to them, their daughters were everything to them! But, even though they had two loving and healthy, beautiful daughters, they could never seem to have a son(even though they only had sex like, twice....) and still wanted one. One night, while feeding Luna, Queen Starlight said to her husband, while holding Luna in her hands and arms "Solaris, I know we've tried everything to get a son, but there's one more way." As she continued, she decided to preen her daughter's wings, hoping her daughter would be able to sleep through the night tonight.
"Yes my dear, what is it?" King Solaris asked his wife, as he stretched out his own wings, and used his magic(which had a red aura glowing from his horn) to grab a blanket and put it into his hands, then wrapped it around his wife, to where he was able to cover her hooves. His wife only looked back at him, at his pure white face, and he soon realized what she meant, as he looked at her dark blue face, which held two white orbs, with purple circles in the white orbs that were her eyes, then said to his wife "You mean adoption, Starlight?"
His wife nodded, as she put their now sleeping foal into her crib, then replied to her husband and said "But we mustn't tell Celestia, she'll want to go with the one of us that goes to the orphanage tomorrow." As she finished, she heard a small giggling, that of her 5 year old daughter Celestia's, and noticed a white night dress disappear behind a door, and heard hoof steps growing fainter and fainter. "Well, I guess it's too late now!" Queen Starlight said, as she laughed a bit herself.
"Wait... tomorrow my dear? Why so soon dear wife?" Solaris asked his wife, wearing a confused look upon his face, as this was the first he heard of the orphanage, AND the fact that one of them would be going tomorrow.
"Well..." Starlight said in a hushed tone, so not to wake the sleeping child in the room "I've already made the arrangements for you to go their tomorrow. Did you never ask why you had a free day tomorrow when ever the royal advisor gave you your schedule on Sunday?"
Solaris' jaw dropped, and he said without trying to yell "You.... went and made.... the appointment already, without.... my advise?" As he looked at his wife, surprised that he never did ask about that free day, believing he had a day off on the Friday. "OK!" Solaris said, with his jaw back up, and calmed down "I'll go tomorrow, and I'll bring Celestia with me. How does that sound?"
"Absolutely wonderful dearest husband!" Starlight said, then kissed her husband straight on the lips, then tip-hoofed out of the room, so not to wake the sleeping baby Luna, and have to redo everything she just did, after giving her daughter a kiss goodnight. Solaris decided that it was best for him to do the same, and that's exactly what he did! After this, he went to his room, to lie in bed with his wife, whom he loved very much, more than the moon and stars themselves.
The next afternoon....
King Solaris and his daughter, Princess Celestia, had stood outside the quiet "Canterlot orphanage for needy foals" and held each other's hands, Celestia's being completely covered by her father's enormously strong hand. Once the two entered, they noticed the 'quiet' orphanage was actually quite loud on the inside, more than anypony actually knew! The front area held a bunch of foals that were playing and making a ruckus. "Wow, so many potential brothers...." Celestia thought, then noticed two foal leaning against a wall, not caring about the ruckus and other noises being made "What're they doing?" Celestia thought, looking at a unicorn colt and another colt as well. Well, he seemed like a colt, but he was actually a mixed matched creature of may animal parts. Celestia let go of her father's hand and walked towards the colt, and the other foal, and said "Hi, I'm Celestia! Who are you guys?"
"New arrival eh? Hey, I'm Discord! Welcome to the orphanage of "no adoption"!" The mixed matched creature said, looking down at the floor, thinking of why he ended up here in the first place. Discord wore baggy clothes, that looked like the wouldn't fit him if he wasn't tall for his age. He wore black jeans, and a long sleeved grey shirt.
"And I'm Sombra!" The actual colt said, who had a dark coat and mane plus tail, who wore black jeans as well, but a black t-shirt instead of what Discord wore. "So, who dumped you here?"
"What?" Celestia asked, confused as to why they were such downers "I'm not her to be up for adoption, I'm here with my dad to adopt a new brother! By the way, how old are you guys?"
"Both of us are five." Sombra said "We've only got each other here, and that's how things are!" Sombra continued, looking around angrily at the other foals, crossing his arms to where his hands were hugging his ribs.
"Yeah, we haven't exactly had a nice track record with the other foals." Discord said "Plus, they're all too boring for me." Discord continued, looking up at Celestia "You, on the other hand, are rather interesting!" he said with a blush. Discord didn't know what he though was interesting about her. Was it her wings, her horn, her nice personality. "Hey, wait a minute.... You're an alicorn! So, you're a princess?" Discord said, then began to laugh like crazy!
Solaris noticed his daughter talking to th two foals, and walked over to the three foals and said "So, I see you've met some friends! What're your names boys?" Solaris asked, as he was squatting so he could be eye level with the unicorn and.... other foal, still trying to figure out what he was exactly.
Discord stuck out his lion's paw and said "I'm Discord, and I'm a Draconequus by the way! I've the head of a pony, body of an eagle, sleek and elegant like a snake, as well as a snake tail, a forked tongue, eagle and bat's wing, and-!" The Draconequus said, before being cut off by Solaris.
"Whoa there! I only need your name my son, there's no need to describe what you are, I know what you are now! I've read about Draconequi when I was your age!" Solaris said, chuckling and smiling at Discord's enthusiasm "And yours' young Unicorn colt?" Solaris asked the dark coated Unicorn.
"I'm Sombra, your majesty!" Sombra informed the king, getting down on one knee and said "At least I've the knowledge o how to act around royalty, unlike my brother here!" He said with a snicker, and was met with a slap to the back of the head by Discord.
"Wow, you two seem to be very special. Don't you think?" Solaris asked the two young boys. After he was met by some sad looking nods, he said "Well, me and my wife are looking for a son. Any I think we may have found THEM" Solaris said.
"But I thought you said you were looking forA son?" Discord said, looking confused with his brother Sombra.
"True, but I think my wife will be pleased that we'll have two sons, and two daughters as well!" King Solaris said, as he stood up to find the manager of the orphanage to do the paper work to adopt the two boys, who looked happy to finally be adopted after so many interviews and rejections.
Once Solaris had found the manager of the orphanage, he filled out the paper work to adopt Discord and Sombra, who beamed with happiness that they were being adopted by royalty! After he signed the last line, the manager said "Well your majesty, Discord and Sombra are now you sons! Hope you two have a wonderful life with your new family!" As she hugged the boys one last time, then hand shacked King Solaris, then went back to her office, while her hooves clacked against the wooden floor boards.
"Well boys, let's head to your new home!" King Solaris said, putting the new princes on his shoulders, while Celestia walked with her father.

The three ponies and Draconequus entered the throne room, where they saw Queen Starlight, who greeted them with "Welcome home dear husband, and my beautiful daughter! Who are these two handsome colts?"
Celestia giggled and said, as she went to hug her mother "They're my new brothers, and your new sons!"
Sombra walked up to his mother, and said "Hello, I'm Sombra! King of-" but was cut off by his brother, who said to the queen of the night "And I'm Discord!" as the two went to hug their new mother.

7 years later...
It was a snow day in Canterlot, as the winter day went on, and 4 foals decided to play outside in the Canterlot royal garden today! One foal, had a pink mane and tail, with pure white skin. The Alicorn Princess, Celestia was waiting for her brothers, Discord and Sombra, to arrive. The first of them to arrive, was Sombra, the tall dark grey coated, and black mane and tail, colt was wearing all black heavy clothing for the day.
Discord finally arrived outside, wearing nothing but black pants and a long sleeved black shirt! Once Discord joined his brother and sister, he said "OK, I've got a game for us!" looking at his siblings with a grin on his face. "Not again Discord!" Celestia said, looking worried "Your games got one of us hurt or in trouble yesterday! Can't we just do something more peaceful than one of your games?" Celestia asked, worried about the consequences. "Come on Tia!" Discord said "We rarely got to play outside, so why can't we play one of my games today when it snows!?" Discord asked, wearing a slightly annoyed face to convince her sister.
Celestia sighed, then said to her brother "OK, we'll play one of your games today!" and after that, Discord jumped up and down while laughing, his feet making some small prints in the snow, while his hands waved in the air, and his wings trying to hold him up, while his tail also shook around a bit, obviously Discord's choice. "OK!" Discord began "Today's game is capture the flag!" Sombra looked confused at this "Why that boring old game, brother?" he asked, his long black mane and tail waving in the wind that flew by them.
"Because Sombwa," Discord said, giving Sombra baby talk "this is MY version of the game!" Discord continued, using his magic to create a map of the royal garden "Now, the objective is: 'Get the purple flag!' Who ever can get it first, and bring it back to their room and plant it in their bathroom, wins!" Discord explained "Ready!"
"Wait Discord, where's the purple flag?!" Sombra asked.
"Set!" Discord continued, ignoring his brother's question.
"Discord, what does this have to do with having fun!?" Celestia asked, looking at her crazy brother.
"GOOOO!" Discord said, as he ran off towards no where, from Celestia's point of view at least.

Celestia walked around the royal garden, looking for the purple flag Discord talked about, thinking where he could've put it. "He knows where it the flag is, right?" Celestia asked herself, keeping her arms crossed to keep herself warm, the cold wind blowing against her, making sure the princess stayed cold. Celestia eventually found that the snow began to become knee deep on her "Oh man, I gotta find the flag!" Celestia continued to say to herself, looking around for the purple flag Discord promised.
Celestia continued to walk forward, but suddenly hit a pole that blocked path, and fell into the snow. "OW!" She said, as she fell into the snow, after hitting her head dead center into the pole. After Celestia got up and brushed the snow off of herself, she looked to see what blocked her path. "YEAAAAHHHH!" Celestia squealed, as she was delighted to find a long awaited object. Celestia bumped into, and found the purple flag before Discord or Sombra. "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I won!" Celestia said, as she then remembered what else she had to do "wait, i gotta get this into my room!" Celestia then tried to pick up the flag, only to find it heavy, heavier then Discord would've told her about. "Come on!" She said, trying to motivate herself "I know what to do here!" Celestia then used her magic to teleport into the castle, only to find out where exactly she teleported.

"Celestia, sweetheart...." Queen Starlight began to ask "why are you in Mommy's closet holding a purple flag?"
Celestia stood still, very still, and all she could do was stay still and blush at the fact she was in her mother's closet. "I uh..... Me, Discord, and Sombra were playing capture the flag and......" Celestia got out "Once one of us had the flag, we had to teleport to our room and set it there...." Celestia continued, walking out of her mother's closet, trying not to take any of her mother's clothing along with her.
"Celestia," Queen Starlight began "will you play with your sister today out in the snow? You know this will be her first time playing outside, especially in snow, and she'd love to know that her sister played in the snow with her when she was a foal one day. Please, for Mommy?" Starlight asked, as she was kneeling down and placed her hands on her daughter's shoulders.
Celestia put the flag down, and said "OK mommy, I will!" then turned around and gave her mother a hug, one only a mother could feel love from. The love Celestia always gave to others was always so radiant, it was enough to bring even the saddest of foals to becoming extremely happy.
Celestia ran to her baby sisters room, where Luna was playing with some of her toys that were scattered about the room, and Celestia said to Luna "Come on Luna, we're gonna go play in the snow!"
Happy to see her older sister, Luna called Celestia what she had begun to call her since she could talk, and said "Tia! Snow?" as she put her toy down then hugged her sister, and tried to stand up.
"Come on, you'll love it!" Celestia said "First, we need to put some warm clothing on you! It's really cold outside." Celestia said, as she went to go get Luna's winter coat and some pants for her sister "Trust me, it's fun! It'd white, cold, and you can make a snow-stallion!"
Luna laughed at her sisters rant, and put on her heavy clothes to keep warm while outside.

"Come on Luna, you can do it!" Celestia cheered on, seeing her sister trying to make a snow ball.
Luna finally finished the snow ball, and looked around for a place to throw it at. Luna looked for a while, and decided to chuck it into the distance, and she flung the snow ball as hard as she could to the south end of the garden. The two sisters could hear the snowball hit somepony in the back of the head, and began to giggle like mad mares.
"HEY! WHO DID THAT?!" Sombra shouted, as he began to ran from where the snow ball had come from, which made Celestia and Luna realize who exactly they hit with the snow ball. Sombra ran fast, faster then he could ever imagine, and saw his two sisters laughing, then shouted at them "Which one of you threw that snowball at me?!" in a loud, angry tone.
Luna, scared for her life from her angry brother, started to tear up, then said "I'm sorry Sombry," as she began to refer Sombra as Sombry "I didn't mean too!" After this, Luna had begun to cry, and sat down in the snow.
Celestia hugged her sister, then said to Sombra "Why would you make our little sister cry like this?" while she caressed a hand through her sisters mane "why are you so mean to her?"
Sombra began to look at his Celestia, then said "You wanna know why I'm a jerk? Cause when me and Discord were at the orphanage, we were picked on by others, especially discord! So I stood up for him, and whenever another foal would make fun of him, I'd beat them up to get the message across to them, to stop messing with us!"
"Well what exactly happened!?" Celestia asked her angry brother, who looked like he was ready to shoot Celestia with a small beam of magic.
Sombra stood still for a while, then replied with "Discord one day had started playing with some of the other foals, but he didn't know what he was getting into.... He had ended up being hung from his hooves upside down from the second story railing inside the orphanage. I helped him back up, then I found the ponies who did that to him, and beat them up, because I made a vow that day, that I'd beat up anypony who'd be a jerk to my family, and Discord was my only family......"
Celestia was dumbfounded at she heard, then hugged her brother "I'm sorry..... I'm so sorry....." Celestia said, as she silently cried into her brother's shoulder.
"Kids! Come inside for some hot chocolate!" Queen Starlight said to he children "Discord's already inside, so you better hurry!" she joked, as she watched he two daughters and her other adopted son run inside from the cold weather that was behind them.
