Though her friendships have suffered from the time put into her research, she has finally perfected her magnum opus: a source of unlimited magic, a gift she plans to offer to those even without horns. Through numerous tests, she knows how to use to its fullest potential. The stress from her work weighs heavy on her, but the Source provides her greatest relief as well.

On Earth, however, there are laws regarding that sort of thing. Miska Stahl is working to develop the next step in artificial intelligence, providing the first fully humanoid body for the planet's new pseudo-species. All that stands in the way of changing his own world is the sentient program he designed, with whom he shares the closest kind of relationship. Through it all, the couple's morals are at as great a test as their experiments.
