It was supposed to be just a normal day for training. A tournament in the Kanto region was coming up and my trainer, Evil, was anxious about it. Her team was as followed: Dent the Venusaur, Mori the Salamence, Lucky the Togetic, Riley the Lucario, Arco the Pachirisu, and me, Tayori, her trusted Keldeo. Everything was as what you’d expect a training session would be, but later, it would turn out to be the start of the weirdest time of my life…
After a few battles between each other, it was my turn. I was to fight Arco who, despite his cute looks, is real trouble on the battlefield. We got into our positions and the battle began.
Arco started off with a Rain Dance. This may give me an advantage, considering how I use Water-type attacks, but it also gives Arco an edge, since he has Thunder, which increases accuracy in rain. I transformed into my Resolute form, and charged at Arco, my Secret Sword ready. He quickly dug underground, avoiding my attack.
Now that my opponent was underground, I was a sitting Ducklett. I knew I needed to keep my guard up, or else I’d take some damage. I felt the ground shake underneath my hooves and quickly leaped out of the way as Arco emerged from the ground. This was my chance to attack, now that he was on the surface. I tried my Secret Sword again, this time, it was a direct hit.
The impact of the attack blew Arco to the other side of our makeshift battlefield. He regained his footing and called upon a Thunder. Because it was still raining, the Thunder was a direct hit. To make matters worse, I was vulnerable to Electric-type attacks, so I took a lot of damage.
I struggled to get up, the Thunder leaving me paralyzed. With all my strength, I shot out a strong Hydro Pump from my back hooves, the rain powering up my attack. Arco was again blown to the other side from the force. We both stood at our individual sides of the field, trying to catch our breath as the rain stopped.
“Okay, guys! Take 5!” Mistress Evil told us. I quickly reverted to my original form. Man, are we lucky to have a trainer allowing us to go all out, yet still making sure we don’t hurt ourselves.
With the help of Full Restores, Mistress Evil tended our wounds. She treated me first since I was a Water-type who was struck by lightning. In a few minutes, I was back on my feet. The technology humans make to heal Pokémon never ceases to amaze me. Arco didn’t have many injuries and was healed almost instantly.
“I guess it’s time we took a break from training,” Mistress Evil told the six of us. “I’ll go cook you guys some lunch. You’re all probably hungry. Dent, you’re in charge of the others.”
I rolled my eyes as she left. Don’t get me wrong, I love my trainer to death. I only wished she wouldn’t have to have someone watch over me when she leaves me. I’m a freakin’ lethal legendary, for crying out loud!
All the other Pokémon were chatting amongst themselves. I sighed.
“This is so boring…” I thought to myself. It tortures me to even sit still. Despite just being healed, I wanted to battle again. Because of my inability to wait patiently for anything, everyone, excluding Arco and Mistress Evil, called me Twitchy Tayori. Well, if you were bored, wouldn’t you be twitchy?
Finally, after what seemed like hours to me, which in reality, was probably five minutes, I got up to leave.
“Now, where are you going, Tayori?” Dent asked me.
“Goin’ for a walk,” I replied. “Call me when the food is ready.”
Dent shook his head and muttered, “Impatient kid…” I hated it when he called me a kid or treated me like one. Yeah, he is the one of the oldest Pokémon, in fact Mistress Evil’s first official Pokémon, but that didn’t give him the right to look down on me. I just ignored his remark and walked into the woods.
Everything seemed real peaceful. Sure, it’s nice to have a little peace every now and then, but it doesn’t hurt to have anything exciting happening. My stomach growled. Like I said before, I love my trainer, but why couldn’t she hurry up with the food? I looked around the woods for something to pass the time until lunch was ready.
There was nothing that could entertain me. The bird Pokémon were singing in the trees, the Water-type Pokémon were swimming in the river, and the Beedrills were buzzing annoyingly. Just when I was about to turn back to join the others and see if lunch was ready, I heard a roar. I couldn’t distinguish what kind of Pokémon it was but I knew it had to be a big, strong one. I ran deeper into the woods and decided to investigate.
The sound of the roar led me to a cave, one that looked suspicious. Then again, all caves are suspicious-looking to me. I entered it, but it was much darker than expected. Still, if it means I could get a good fight out of whatever roared, I ventured without a second thought.
Suddenly, I felt myself bump into something. Something big and bulky. I had a good feeling that this was the source of the roar, which I assumed was either a Rock- or Steel-type Pokémon. With my rear legs, I gave it a hard kick.
I heard the Pokémon move and readied myself for battle. I saw a gleaming light, which I identified as an eye. The eye moved up, which could mean the Pokémon was getting up. It roared. Finally, I could tell what it was. A Steelix!
The Steelix roared again, and I felt a rumbling, and then heard the sound of rocks falling. It had used Rock Slide. Now I knew I was in trouble. Using my speed, I ran from the Steelix and dodged the rocks. Normally, I wouldn’t run, but a Rock Slide in a cave? No thanks. It was so dark; I couldn’t see where I was going so I relied on my hearing.
From a distance, there was a light. Thinking this was an exit, I ran towards it. When I finally made it out of the cave, I was exhausted, not because I had used up energy to run as fast as I could, but from hunger. I felt so faint from being famished that I passed out.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in an unfamiliar room. It looked a lot like a room a king or someone high and mighty would reside. I got up from what I presumed was a bed and looked around.
I felt two weird things on my back. I raised a hoof to feel whatever was on me. It felt soft and feathery. I approached a mirror and to my surprise, I had wings!
Footsteps were heard outside of the room and were getting closer to the door. Well, they sounded more like hooves. The door opened and a white Rapidash dressed like royalty with a weird, colorful mane which I could tell was not made out of fire, a horn longer than normal, and wings entered the room. She was accompanied by two winged white Ponytas with knights’ armor. What was going on?
“The prince is awake!” one of the Ponytas exclaimed. Wait, prince? Does he mean me? The Rapidash smiled.
“Good to see that you’ve awaken, Prince Tayori.” She said softly.
“P-Prince? And how do you know my name?” I asked. I was so confused at this point.
“Well, it was on your goggles.” She explained. Now that she mentioned it, I wasn’t wearing my goggles. I began to panic. Those goggles were a gift from my trainer and were very important to me. The Rapidash placed her hoof on my shoulder, sensing how uneasy I was. “Don’t worry, my dear. Your goggles are on the desk.”
I turned to look at the desk and found my goggles sitting on it. I gave out a sigh of relief. Thank Arceus… Without those goggles on my head or around my neck, I just don’t feel myself.
Now that that was taken care of, it was time to get back to business; WHERE THE HELL AM I?!
“Okay, so you know my name,” I said. “Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to know what’s going on. Where am I and why did you call me ‘Prince’?”
“A couple of ponies were on a hike when they found you unconscious on the ground at the mouth, Your Highness,” a Ponyta replied. “They brought you back to our town of Canterlot where we indentified you as a prince of Equestria.”
“A prince of Equestria?” I asked. “Wait, you must be mistaken. I’m no prince. I’m not even from here!”
“Well, you have wings, a horn, and a sword made of water on it for your Cutie Mark.” The Rapidash said. I just stared at her, even more confused. “The marking on your flank.”
I took another good look in the mirror. She was right; there was a water sword on my flank. But why?
“I’m sorry, but I’m seriously not from here. I belong in Kanto with my trainer. Plus, I don’t usually have these… features…”
The three looked lost in what I was saying. I sighed.
“You have quite an imagination, Your Highness.” A Ponyta said. “You should probably get more rest.”
“He may be right…” The Rapidash told him. “He looks a lot different from the other ponies. Like he’s from a totally different world!”
Okay, let’s rewind that. Did she just say a different world? So, I was in a different world?! No wonder I looked different!
“I will have to into this much further.” She said. “Oh, I almost forgot to tell you who I am. I am Celestia, one of the Princesses of Equestria.”
“I’m Tayori, but you already know that by now. I’m a Keldeo.”
“What’s a Keldeo? You look more like an alicorn.” I was shocked. She didn’t know what I was. I guess I really was in a different world.
“Alicorn? What’s an alicorn?” I asked. She smiled at me.
“You have a lot to learn, dear. Until we get this all straight, you will stay in Canterlot as a prince.” Celestia said. She turned to leave. “Come with me. I will show you around and introduce you to the other princesses. We will also teach you the ways of a prince of Equestria.”
I gulped. Lessons? But I can’t even stand fancy-do’s!
I sighed again. This is gonna suck…
