Socks!
Socks
Load Full StorySunlight shone directly down onto a small village below, warming it with a soft yellow. A small breeze shook the fall leaves, making them fall down to the black road. The ponies were walking in their usual afternoon stroll, going in stores and coming home from work. But a certain unquiet group of four ponies was on something important. For, there was a pink pony who shone a smile on her face while hopping up and down endlessly. The three other ponies were looking at the excited mare with a look of annoyed amusement.
Twilight looked at the excited pink pony smiling, even though Pinkie did this all the time when excited. “I wonder what Craftsy has for us that SHE invented! I mean, she’s a crafter and all!” Pinkie Pie said while still hopping.
“Well, she did sound pretty excited. And Craftsy said it was a piece of clothing. So, that’s why we brought Rarity! To give advice,” said Twilight.
“Oh, I knew she’d need some,” said Rarity, a unicorn with a clean white coat, a curled purple mane, with beautiful sapphire blue eyes.
“I still don’t know why you’d bring me along though,” said a cyan Pegasus.
Twilight looked at the Pegasus with eyes telling that it was obvious. She had a rainbow mane and tail with a sky blue coat. Her eyes were a dark pink, and her personality was only one thing: anything about flying at dangerous speeds.
“Umm, to help with colors and to share your opinion,” Twilight said.
“Pfft, please, you know that’s Rarity’s job?” Rainbow Dash said, giving Twilight a smirk.
Twilight rolled her eyes and continued down the road. Beside her she heard Pinkie’s hops which was most impossible to hear it in a squeaking bounce. Behind her Rarity was arguing with Dash, but she wasn’t listening. Twilight didn’t even know what they were arguing about. Just that whatever Craftsy wanted to show her, it was probably a disaster. Any of her crafts just broke apart, or looked bad. Twilight hoped that this time walking all the way across Ponyville would be worth it.
The hot road shined black from staying in the sun for hours. The houses and shops passed my slowly as the group of friends trotted past. Ponyville was slowing down for the day when the group of ponies finally reached Craftsy’s house. It was a wierd house, and at some parts cloth was hung up by sticks, shadowing portions of the house. Strings hung from the roof covered with beads, and cut-up curtains hung outside the windows. Buttons hung on string at the top corner of each window, each different colors. Pretty much anything a craft pony could need either were hung up by string or glued on the yellow house wood.
Rainbow Dash was the first to walk in the doorway and knock on the door. Then Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie bounced in last.
After waiting a while a click, sounded and a pink unicorn opened the door, smiling wildly. She wore a messy pony tail in her dark red mane. Her horn was glowing blue, probably levitating something.
“Hey Craftsy, you wanted to show us something?” Twilight asked.
Craftsy smiled even wider, her pupils getting smaller. “Yep! Come inside!”
Twilight trotted on inside, instantly glancing in on the messy floors and hallways all cluttered up with stuff. Cloth, thread, paper, beads, and boxes with boxes stacked on top of each other, each stuffed with uncountable junk. Light shone from the only window visible in the mess, revealing a small dark brown wooden table. Spools of thread sat upon the table, along with a small shiny needle and two pieces of black cloth.
Craftsy looked back at Twilight with an even wider smile only Pinkie could make. “Come, come! It’s over here!” she said, pointing towards the table.
Rainbow Dash flew in front of Twilight to look at what was on the table. Twilight angrily shoved Rainbow aside to go look at the things on the table. She examined the cloth a little more to find small slits at the top of each fabric.
Rainbow Dash shoved Twilight aside and looked at the fabric. “What is it?”
Craftsy finally showed what she was levitating; a white board with some writing on it. SOCKS is what it said, along with small written notes around the edge of the board. Rarity trotted passed to look at the fabric cuts, then to the board. “Umm, why have you made—“ but she was interrupted by Craftsy saying, “SOCKS!”
Pinkie Pie bounced over with her smile even huger than Craftsy’s. “Is THIS what you invented? Socks!? OH MY GOSH! This is huge! What do they do?”
Rarity looked down at them a little more closely. “Uh, Pinkie dear? It comes to my focus that socks have already been invented…” Rarity trailed off.
Craftsy wasn’t paying attention though. “You wear it!” she said, putting on the socks. “It even has a purpose too- you can put them under horseshoes!”
Twilight squinted angrily, Rainbow doing the same. “You brought us here for nothing. YOU BROUGHT US HERE FOR NOTHING!” Dash said flying and kicking the table to the ground.
Craftsy lowered herself to the ground, looking at her socks with longing. “But I was sure I got it this time…” with that she went into tears.
Pinkie Pie bounced over, still smiling. “Don’t worry! Auntie Pinkie Pie is going to make you feel all better! Now how about some stories! When I was a little filly…”
And Craftsy burst into more tears.
The rest of them left, but Twilight stayed behind to look at the crying pony before trotting out the door and into Ponyville.

Craftsy sewed together her pieces of fabric and tried to make something new. She used every trick she knew of. Didn't work. She put beeds and buttons and extra thin fabric on it, but no. She got out her hammer and smashed the fabric until it was crushed. But it STILL didn't work. No, no, and no. Probably meant it was never going to work.
She sighed, knowing that her only friends would just laugh at her from trying. They'd watch her until they couldn't breath. Craftsy knew that she was a failure. She gave up trying, starting to look around her house. It was REALLY cluttered. It's cleaning day, she thought, going into tears and falling on the floor. Why try? Why this cutie mark? If it was my destiny, then why'd it stop working?
Tears ran down her cheeks until her crying stopped. Craftsy got a drink of ice cold water from the kitchen, made some popcorn, then sat down in her bedroom and watched her TV screen till it got blurry. She went to Rarity's shop and bought one of her silk dresses, pretty enough to make Craftsy feel better. She got some food and made a garden in her backyard. Everything cost money, but it was all worth it. Craftsy spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up her cluttered house and giving things to phillies she obviously did not need. Maybe a cleaning cutie mark? No, but she was soon feeling more happy than ever. Even if it took a whole day.
