Cloud wasn't really pleased with her annoying older sister Cloud Chaser. "You need to make some friends and go outside!" Cloud Chaser said.
"Why go outside when I have everything I need to survive in here? You know food, water,and air! I don't need friends or friendship to do anything!" Cloud looked back down at the comic she was reading as Cloud Chaser snatched it out of her hoofs.
"Outside.Now. Go make some friends and stop being such and anti-social dweeb"
"Stupid feather-brain"
"What was that?!"
"N-Nothing!" Cloud stuttered out before darting out the cloud door slamming it behind her loudly. Or well, as loudly as a cloud door can shut.
Cloud walked around the floating city of Cloudsdaile wondering what to do. She could go by the library and pick up some new books, or maybe she could take the tour of the rainbow factory. She thought for a little bit still wandering the soft, white streets. Cloudsdaile wasn't that big so... It was kinda easy to memorize everything there was in the floating city. Finally she decided to go practice her flying. After all, she was one of the best flyers in the class. So it would make sense to practice. Cloud took off into the sky gliding in the crisp, late-fall air. Everything seemed bright and happy. Usually she didn't really like this, but today was an exception she guessed. She looked around enjoying her sights she noticed a cyan pegasus Filly headed straight toward her very quickly.
Cloud moaned and woke up on a cloud to see that cyan pegasus filly standing over her. "Hey! You ok? I crashed into really hard! Good thing i didn't get knocked out too or else we both would be in trouble." The filly laughed and had expected Cloud laugh along But she just simply stared up at the filly
"who in the name of celestia are you?" She finally blurted out.
"I'm Rainbow Dash! The second best flyer in my class! I'v never met the pony who's in first. I think her name is Cloud. But I have no idea." Rainbow dash said happily as she helped up Cloud. She dusted herself off with her hardly groomed light grey and white tail.
"well Rainbow Dash, I'm cloud. that number 1 flyer in flight school" Cloud said as Rainbow Dash chuckled.
"Well, nice to meet you Cloud! Do you wanna race?" Rainbow dash asked as Cloud stared at her.
"Meh. This filly wants to be friends. She seems OK though. Not really hyper-active or annoying like the other fillies and colts at my school. But i don't know... she seems to be abit to proud in her speed though. Oh well, why not? Cloud Chaser said i needed to make some friends anyways." Cloud thought as she looked at the cyan filly with the crazy rainbow mane and tail who was smiling and waiting very patiently for her answer. Cloud smiled ad she nodded "sure why not!" Dash jumped up and down her wings buzzing with joy. "Oh yea! it's totally on! race you to the rainbow bakery!" without another word the filly took off into the sky with Cloud quickly trailing after.
afew years later
"Your such a cheater Dash!" Cloud laughed out and landed swiftly on the ground carrying her lunch bag as Rainbow Dash landed behind her
"says the one who tackled me in mid air causing me to get my head stuck in a cloud!" Rainbow dash laughed and trotted towards the cloud table outside of the Rainbow bakery. "Oh by the way, since it's your 13th birthday you can go in and get whatever the heck your little heart desires. It's all on me." Rainbow Dash smiled to her friend and took out a small pouch of bits she earned from working part time at the bakery. "But let me buy it, i might get and employee discount." Rainbow added on as she followed her into the small shop. Cloud looked carefully at all of the goodies as Rainbow helped her decided.
"Why hello Rainbow Dash! What a lovely surprise to see you here with your friend!" Rainbows boss exclaimed happily as Rainbow smiled at her boss.
"Hey boss! Nice to see you! hey, I got a question. Do i get an employee discount?" Rainbow asked her boss as she shook her head
"Sorry Rainbow, no can do." The boss said as Rainbow dash grunted angerly and sighed as Cloud patted Rainbows patted and smiled
"Can i get a extra large triple chocolate rainbow swirl brain freeze milkshake with extra whip cream please?" Cloud asked Rainbows boss as she smiled.
"that'll be 5 bits please." The boss said as Rainbow took out 5 bits and placed them on the table and some pony in the back made the milkshake.
"Thanks dash. I was craving one of these." Cloud smiled happily as Rainbow looked over at her.
"Anytime Cloud." Dash smiled at her friend and stared at her. Rainbow Dash always loved it when Cloud smiled. No matter what the smile was from, as long as it was a real smile. Rainbow dash thought about everything she and her best friend had done together. All the sleepovers, camping trips, vacations, and hang-outs after school they'v done together. Dash looked back over and her best friend as she got her milkshake and carried it back outside to there table. Even if she didn't alot of bits left, it was still nice to see Cloud smile like a innocent, newborn filly. "It's just 5 bits. Nothing much. Hopefully i'll get a raise and start earning more. I'd hate to have to move away" Rainbow Dash thought to herself as Cloud looked at her.
"You ok dash? You look worried. Something bothering you?" Cloud asked in concern as Rainbow Dash smiled at her friend and shook her head.
"Everythings just great Cloud. Just keep drinking your milkshake and enjoy your birthday. I have a surprise for you after you finish that." Rainbow Dash said as Clouds ears perked up abit in curiosity and started to suck down the milkshake
as Rainbow Dash landed on a cloud with Cloud swiftly landing behind her. "I thought, since its your birthday and all, I'd get a job at the weather patrol and clear out the sky for your birthday sunset." Rainbow dash told her friend and they sat down and chatted among themselves in hushed voices and watched the sunset slowly an beautifully.
"Thanks dash. I don't know were I'd be right now if i didn't have you as my best friend. Your the greatest." Cloud told Rainbow Dash as she leaned over and hugged her. Dash quickly returned the hug and smiled.
"Anything to keep you smiling Cloud." she thought to herself as she turned back to the sun as it's last few colors flared across the sky like a wild fire and and dipped down into the darkness. As Cloud got up ready to take off Rainbow Dash just simply flipped onto her back. "Were you goin'? That wasn't the end of the surprise featherbrain!" Rainbow Dash laughed as Cloud lied back down and looked up at the starry night as Dash smiled at her. "What you never stayed up and watched the stars before?" Cloud shook her head.
"Nope." She muttered somewhat embarrassed as Rainbow Dash just laughed
"Hey, it's fine. That makes this night much more special than it already was." Rainbow said. for a long time the two mares were silent. So busy gazing at the stars that they forgot to talk for awhile. But finally Cloud spoke up.
"Thank you, Rainbow. This means alot to me." she told her friend as Dash just smiled
"of course it did. I wouldn't do something that was lame and boring for your 13th birthday would I?" Rainbow Dash laughed and Cloud just smiled and stared at Rainbow. "Whatcha lookin' at Cloud?" Rainbow Dash asked her friend returning the stare as Cloud gave her a warm smile and replied.
"Oh something ugly." Cloud laughed as dash punched her in the foreleg.
"Not cool!" Dash said as Cloud as rubbed her foreleg and smiled at her. Dash grunted an turned away.
"Aw come on Dashie. It was just a joke" Cloud said as out of nowhere Dash flipped around and tackled her off the cloud laughing. quickly clouds wings spread out and she shoved RD.
"So not cool dash." Cloud laughed and Rainbow rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Aw come on Cloudie. It was just a joke" Rainbow said mocking her. Cloud and Rainbow both laughed as the flew back up to the cloud they were lying on and lied back down looking back up at the stars pointing out constellations.
3 years later
Cloud looked at Rainbow Dash blinking away tears. "A-are you sure?" Cloud asked her sadly as Rainbow Dash shook her head
"I just can't afford to stay in cloudsdaile anymore Cloud. I'm sorry" Dash said as Cloud stared at the fluffy ground.
"Isn't there anything. ANYTHING. I can do to get you to stay? I mean you could live at my place, or.. or.. Dash please don't leave." Cloud muttered out as a rolled down her cheek.
"Cloud.. please. Your making this harder than I wanted it to be. I already signed the deal on the nice big cloud house on the outskirts of Ponyville .It's cheaper than that apartment i was renting and its WAAY bigger. The only option I could see us having is if you moved in with me." Dash told Cloud as she broke away from the hug her face light up
"Well what are we waiting for then! Quickly! Lets go back my stuff!" Cloud puffed out in one breath as she zipped off leaving a stunned but happy rainbow to trail behind her.
The two mares sat at a table at Sugarcube corner drinking milkshake chatting about The weather patrol.
" You honestly shouldn't except much. It was supposed to be cloudy today Rainbow Dash." Cloud said as Rainbow grunted
"But it's not fair! Today could'v been the perfect day for flying but nooooo I had to make it ANOTHER cloudy day. That's 3 in a row! Do you know how many complaints I got YESTERDAY. Think about TODAY" As Rainbow Dash rambled on as Cloud listened carefully to her best friend carefully. since she was the quite one in the group she usually listened to whatever was on Rainbows mind and then whatever else she has to say. After Rainbow Dash had finished her ramble Cloud just simply smiled at her frustrated friend
"Don't worry Rainbow. Tomorrow calls for sunshine. We can go flying tomorrow." Cloud said as Rainbow sighed grumply.
"But I need the skies clear TODAY. Don't you know what today is Cloud?" Rainbow Dash asked her curious friend as Cloud shook her head and Rainbow facehoofed "Todays the day we met like, 12 years ago! How could you forget!" Rainbow Dash told her friend as cloud rolled her eyes.
"Uhh maybe 'cuz it happened 12 YEARS AGO." Cloud said taking a sip of her milkshake as Rainbow Dash gave her a stern look.
"It's an important date. Besides, I had plans for everything and this weather just ruins it." Rainbow Dash muttered and kicked the ground with her hindleg and Cloud gave her a reassuring smile and patted her foreleg
"I'm sure that it'll be just as fun Dashie." Cloud said as she finished off her milkshake and carrying the glass in giving it to a bouncy bright pink earth pony.
"Thanks! Did you enjoy the milkshake?" the earth pony asked as Cloud smiled at her and nodded.
"It was great! You need to tell me your secret to making them so thick and creamy Pinkie Pie." Cloud as the pink earth pony as she just giggled.
"Oh that's my little secret" Pinkie pie replied with giggles and bounced into the kitchen as Rainbow Dash walked in carrying her empty glass.
"Talking to Pinkie Pie Cloud?" She asked as she placed the glass down on the counter and Cloud nodded.
"Yea. I wanna know how the crazy party pony makes such good milkshakes." Cloud told dash as they walked out and trotted towards the more hillish part of ponyville.
Cloud stumble forward in the blindfold Rainbow Dash had but around her eyes. "Dash were in all of Equestria are you taking me!" Cloud asked Rainbow Dash.
"Just afew steps forward ok?... Annnnnnd stop! Your good! Take off the blindfold you silly filly." Rainbow Dash told her friend as she took off the blindfold to see a small picnic area on a hill that had a whole view of ponyville.
"Aw Dash! This is awesome!" Cloud gasped as she hugged her friend.
"Hey, that what i'm here for right?" Dash smiled at Cloud as they sat down and ate. After awhile they simply just looked up and tried to make shapes and objects out of the clouds. Dash looked at Cloud and smiled "I'm glad to see you happy Cloud. I always try to make you smile" Rainbow Dash said to her as Cloud looked over as her curiously and smiled.
"You always try to what?" She laughed as Rainbow Dash shrugged.
"I don't know. Ever since we were little fillies i always tried to make you smile. It was sorta like a game i guess. Because, it always made me happy to see you happy. So i guessed whenever you smiled that you were happy. Because you smile is one of the most amazing things I'v ever seen. And I always try real hard to keep it there everyday." Rainbow dash explained to Cloud. Cloud just kinda looked as her a tiny happy grin appeared across her face.
"I'll try to smile more for you then Dash. I didn't know it ment so much to you." Cloud told Rainbow as Dash kinda just looked up at the clouds her eyes looked as if they were lost in thought. Cloud just stared at her for alittle while. All was silent, but not a weird, awkward silence. When it came to Rainbow Dash and Cloud, NOTHING was ever weird or silent. But that made Clouds thoughts wonder curiously.
Rainbow Dash had been much more silent lately. As if she was hiding something. But Cloud respected Rainbow Dashes privacy and didn't interfere.
"hey cloud. I can tell you anything right?" Rainbow Dash finally spoke up
"of course! That's kinda what I'v done since the first day we met twelve years ago."
"well... I kinda met this stallion..."
Cloud quickly sat up and turned to her friend. "A who-what?" She said quickly as rainbow Dash turn to her in some concern.
"I'v been meaning to tell you for a long time but.. I didn't really know how." Rainbow Dash sat up as well but never once did she take her eyes off the ground. "His name is Ace, I met him a month ago. And i think he likes me." Rainbow Dash started to blush as all the came out of Clouds mouth was a giant
"SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! YOUTWOAREGANNAGETMARRIEDANDHAVECHILDERNAND-" Cloud had started to ramble out quickly and loudly and Rainbow Dash covered Clouds mouth with a hoof.
"Cloud! Geez girl your louder than Luna on nightmare night! Chill out!" Rainbow told her excited, hyper friend as she removed her hoof from her mouth as they chatted a bit more about him happily.
epilogue
Rainbow Dash laughed as she and a dark grey pegasus stallion with silver spiky hair trottted toward Rainbow Dashes cloud home. As they flew up they saw Cloud on the porch playing with a young, light grey pegasus colt with brown bangs
"But moooom! I don't wanna preen my wings! It takes FOREVER to do!" The young colt complained as Cloud picked him up and held out his wing with her foreleg.
"Bolt when was the last time you preened?!" She said to her son as she carefully put one of his feathers in place
"I dunno." He said as he placed his head against his mothers chest as she carefully started to fix his wings. Rainbow dash looked over at her best friend and smiled
"Hey Cloud. Do you know were my crazy little filly ran off to?" Dash said softly as cloud looked over at her best friend and smiled.
"I put her down in your bedroom for a nap." Cloud told Rainbow Dash and went back to fixing the feather on her little colts messy wings.
Rainbow Dash walked threw her bedroom door to see a dark grey pegasus filly with a crazy rainbow mane and tail. She sighed happily as she trotted alittle closer "Storm.. Hey.. Wake up you silly little filly." Rainbow Dash said as the filly moaned and looked up at her mother with sleepy eyes.
"Whats up?" Storm said with sleepyness rung in her tired voice as she got up and leaped off her parents bed.
"I thought we could get some flying done today. Your father got of early today so we all can go flying if you want." Dash said as all tiredness drained from storm and fresh and happy excitement filled up in her eyes
"What are we waiting for then? Let's go!" Storm said happily as she darted out the door with Rainbow dash quickly following behind.
