I still can't believe I'm doing this (Letter 1)
But here goes.
Dear Princess Twilight,
You told me, along with a few others to start sending you friendship reports, so that is what I'm going to do. I am also going to start posting them online, starting right now. You visited me in the hospital, and made sure that I would be able to use magic again, so I suppose I owe you this one, but I hope you know that they might not be weekly. As for this first friendship report, it will take a little time to reach you, due to the fact I don't have a little purple dragon to send them. Now, for my findings:
Today I learned that even the oddest ponies can help, if you let them (cliché I know) but the fact is, for a long while, all I cared about was myself, and my broken horn. I thought that the worst thing was losing my magic for good, but it's not. I also lost a friend in the process, who I hope; I can apologize to after I'm out of this hospital bed.
I know that you healed my horn, so what I'm saying would most likely be a bunch of horse apples, but the thing is, I had a change of heart before you even arrived at Canterlot, because I met one of the most interesting of ponies, one who I will never forget as long as I live. You see, her name was Happy Flier, who at first, seemed to me like the most annoying thing I have ever met. I had no idea why they had put this little filly in the emergency ward with me, I mean she jumped around my bed constantly, and asked me all sorts of questions, which ranged from my favorite color to why the sky was blue, (to which I had explained). The little Pegasus barely ever stopped to breathe! Then one day my best friend, one who I’ve known since childhood came to see me, he’s a green Pegasus, who always wanted to be able to use magic. We made the perfect pair, seeing how I always wanted to fly. (Which I almost accomplished, before plummeting, and well, ending up here). When he came, that annoying little Pegasus had bounced around him, and I had yelled at her, and made her cry. I don’t even remember why I yelled. But my friend, he had left, and I haven’t seen him since. Well after that, I started to blame the girl, that poor little filly, wouldn't even talk to me for a whole two weeks, as a matter of fact, the curtain was pulled shut so I couldn't see her.
Two whole weeks of me sitting there blaming her for everything, while she probably was sitting there feeling miserable about something I had done. But that’s the thing isn’t it! She wasn’t sitting there crying like a newborn (not the fictional enemy I write about), she was doing something much, much better. But I wouldn’t know that for another two weeks. Two weeks of me and my laptop, furiously writing some irrelevant manure about Daniel or something, this turned out to be crap that I wouldn’t use if my life depended on it. Two weeks of a closed curtain and me glaring at whatever nurse or doctor would come by to help. Speaking of which, on a much more irrelevant note, you were right about her, and I actually have a date set up when I get out of this hospital.
Anyways, back on track. So after two weeks of pretty nothing, that curtain opened, and that little yellow filly walked up to me so slowly, that I wondered if it was really still her. She wasn’t talking at all, and her tail was dragging behind her. And I, as a heartless bastard, just simply glared at her as she walked up to me. At the time it seemed to have taken hours, but truly, she was there within twenty or so seconds, (still a while, seeing how I was literally only five feet away).
When she had arrived at my bedside, she put a papier-mâché horn on my bed. It was expertly crafted, and actually looked my horn, color and all. with that she told me something I’ll never forget, I remember it word by word. “Mr. Ice Fire, I’m sorry I messed up your visit with your friend, and I’m sorry about bothering you, so to make it up, I made you a new horn, so you could use magic.” That sentence broke my heart. It shattered it. And that’s when you had entered the room. You saw what happened next, but I’ll write it here so those who are reading this that weren’t there can know too.
I put on the horn, over my broken one, and smiled. I had thanked her, and that smile on her face was so bright, that I couldn't stop smiling as well. That’s when it appeared, that little flower made of pipe cleaners, next to the papier-mâché tree. It was a simple cutie mark, but when she saw it, she managed to smile even more, which I had thought was impossible. That’s when you told me about how I should start sending friendship reports to you. Hah, who would’ve ever thought that I would be the student of Twilight Sparkle.
That’s when you fixed my horn with that odd alicorn magic. After a while, you left my room, (why you were in there in the first place is beyond me, but still), and the hospital. It has been one week. Hard to believe. It feels like a lifetime. In this week, Happy revealed why she was in the emergency ward. Her brother had tried to cast a spell far beyond his ability, one using arcane magic. He was dead instantly, and it had caused severe magic poisoning in his sister. She collapsed one day while we were talking about my parents. She was rushed out of the room. Two days later, they rushed me to where she was. It turns out, that she wanted to see me before
Well, that’s it for now, I have to get some rest, if I want any hope getting my ribs and left hind leg healed.
