Not much is known about the Everfree Forest or its denizens, and much of the information available is guesswork at best. To Twilight sparkle, this is both a tragedy and an unacceptable outcome. She has enlisted her number one assistant, Spike, to venture into the forest and gather as much information as he can about various plants, animals, and natural occurrences.

But while his scales can protect him from the extremely varying flora of the Everfree, they cannot hope to save him from the fauna. It will take the assistance of both a mysterious friend and an unlikely ally if he is going to make it out of the forest, but as the saying goes..

The best laid plans oft go astray.
