The Unknown Element

When he told her that he liked me i couldn't believe it, she was practicality on cloud nine especially since she thought different. Though the moment was crushed when he admitted why he called her to his place, for he was leaving. That's when her hopes of them finally getting together were dashed.

"What, you'r leaving? But for how long and why?" She asked once she calmed down enough to get the question out.

"Yeah, i am and i don't know for how long. All i know is that my mother contacted me and wanted me to settle a dispute in the city." He answered looking away, he wore a sad expression, which she could understand since he just told her that he liked liked her and then said he was leaving.

"So why can't you'r mother handle it? I mean she is the Princess right? I know that she sent you here to get you away from that kind of situation, that and because of what happened." He gave her a look which she learned a long time ago that meant that he rather her not to continue with what she was saying.

She had promised a long time ago she had promised not to tell anypony about him being a prince, and had also promised not to tell why he actually came to Ponyville. He had told Cheeriliee that the reason why he came here was because he wanted a change of scenery, and his mother had agreed. Another thing that he told her was that his mom wanted to test him. Part of that was true, his mom and him did want a change of location but since she was the Princess of the kingdom she couldn't leave. So she had sent him to live with Princess Celestia, but with her being busy all the time she sent him here to Ponyville to be watched by somepony.

It wasn't that Celestia didn't want to send him away after he came to live with her, in matter of fact she had enrolled him into her school for gifted Unicorns. This was because he showed great magical potential, but because of her royal duties she couldn't find the time to show him the affection that he needed at this point of his life. For his father had died and his mother hadn't told him why he died, until recently that is. As it turned out his father had became corrupted with power, though he managed to fight it for years he still surcame to the power and she had to fight him.

Unfortunately even though she had managed to get the corruption out of him, he was still badly wounded from the fight and he died because of it. The princess blamed herself, but she knew she had more important things to worry about. Like for example the young colt that was inside of her.

So Celestia decided to try and find somepony to take care of him, and a couple who were looking to adopt moved to Ponyville and Celestia decided that they would be a good choice. Unfortunately the couple made for terrible parents and it was Granny Smith who talked to Celestia about it. That's when she first met Song, for Granny had volunteered to take care of him until he was old enough to live on his own.

She remembered Granny walking in and telling them that they had a new addition to the family, and she waved him in. He was a Unicorn with a light brown coat and a dark brown mane, his eyes a soft shade of brown, he introduced himself as Baker Song. She and him had become instant friends, and it was because of her and her family that he discover his talent was of course baking. But every time he did bake he had a habit of singing, and one night she was having a night mare and when he came to investigate he had managed to wake her.

When he asked what was wrong, she told him about the dream, and when she finished telling him she looked at him and he was giving her a look of concern. He then asked if she would like to here a song, a song in which Celestia had sung to him when he had bad dreams. She told him that would be fine, but she wanted to know what song it was. According to him Celestia had called it A Lullaby for A Princess, she thought that it was going to be a nice happy song but when he started singing she could tell it was a sad tale.

Ever since then when she was upset or was having night mares he always sung that song to her for it seemed to actually calm her and let her get some rest. That's when his cutie mark appeared though, the first time he sung to her. It was a spatula bent in a weird way, for it was bent like a half note. If asked about his cutie mark he would tell them that it represents his love of baking and his love of singing while doing so.

"No, she told me that she thought it was time to start my royal training and she thinks that i'm the only one who can settle the dispute." He said snapping her out of her thoughts. "But after i get done with that i'll be back. Then we can finally be together, but i do not know how long i'll be there though. It could take weeks to settle this dispute."

"Hey we still have three days left right?" She asked before leaning in for a kiss, and for a moment she was waiting for him to lean in, and she was about to pull away in embarrassment when she felt his lips touch hers. Again she was now on cloud nine, her stomach had butterfly's and her heart was now racing.

She had been wanting this for years now, ever since he had stood up for her when she was being bullied for being a blank flank. Ever since then she had a crush on him, but never had the courage to admit her feelings and she had gone out with others since then. But her heart would always belong to him, funny thing that she couldn't tell him her feelings before since she took pride in being honest. So now that he was kissing her a long dream had finally come true.

They had no idea how long they kissed each other for, but once they broke it they just stared into each others eyes. This time he was one who started the kiss, and somehow she was now lying on her back on his bed. Where they really about to do this, for this was her first time and they only just admitted our feelings to each other.

"Are you sure you want this?" He asked with a look of concern in his eyes.

"Yes, but this is my first time." She answered, which now brought a confused look on his face.

"Really, i would have thought a mare as beautiful as you would have had a little experience, especially with all of the dates i've seen you on." He said.

"Nope, many have tried but my heart always belonged to you." She said and then started to kiss him.

"Well don't worry because this is my first time as well." He had said in between kisses. "And my heart belonged to you as well." As they really started.

The next day she had woke up, as she took in where she was she remembered last night. She rolled around expecting to see her lover but he was gone, and in his place was a letter. At first she got scared thinking that he had just used her or just left already, and she grab the letter which read.

"Don't worry, i'm just down stairs making us breakfast. Please stay in bed and i'll bring it up to you, i figured after last night the least i could do is bring you breakfast in bed." She smiled knowing that he didn't leave her. That's when she heard the door open and she turned her smile to the Stallion that not only won her heart long ago but also got her fully in one night.

"Mourning sleepy head. Did anyone else say how cute you are when you'r asleep." She blushed and looked at the plate he was carrying, which had eggs, pancakes topped with an apple slice, with a glass of what looked like regular apple cider. She just licked her lips at the food.

"So you cook all that yourself?" She asked, knowing how stupid the question was, but he just chuckled and put the plate down in front of her. When he kissed her again before he sat down though that just made everything get sharper. He just sat there smiling at her, which he seemed to glowing with happiness now, as she gulped down the delicious food. When she was done he took the plate and told her to come down stairs when she was ready, but when he said that his voice took a little sadness in it, and she now had an idea of why.

"Hey Applejack come and sit down." He said pointing to the spot where their night had begun. She was a little hesitant about sitting down, but she knew they had to get through this.

"Look Song i know what your going to say, but just know that even if your gone for years i'll always be waiting for you." She had to say before this emotional roller coaster, which brought on another kiss.

"I know, but that's not what i wanted to talk to you about." She just gave him a questioning look. "I wanted to talk to you about this last night, but my plan kind of changed." If you hadn't been around him for that long you might not notice, but in her eyes he turned almost as red as an apple. She even blushed. "But what i wanted to talk about my little sister." A sudden realization came upon her, his little sister just arrived in Ponyville two day's ago and was having a sleep over with Apple Bloom last night.

"Oh." was her response.

"My mom doesn't want her to be exposed to this kind of situation. So she wants her to stay here, but i don't want any of my up stuck family around her either." He was saying, but she already knew what he was asking.

"Sure, we'll take care of her don't worry." She said taking on of his hooves in hers and looking at him straight in his eyes. "I promise you." She then leaned in for a long kiss, then they heard a knock on the door.

"I guess i should get that." He said staring daggers at the pony behind the door. When he answered the daggers went away when he saw it was Big Mac. "Oh he Big Mac what brings you by this mourning?" He asked obviously trying to keep his cool, but Big Mac stared hard at him. "So i'm guessing your looking for Applejack. She's inside, why don't you come in and have a seat.

When she saw her brother coming through the door she panicked a little but she still let out a quick hi to him. She grew nervous as Big Mac was giving Song a stare that she never seen her brother use before and it kind of scared her of what he might do to him. That's when he looked at her and kept switching his gaze in between her and Song, and he just gave a big old smile.

"Well it looks like you two had fun, but uhh Applejack you might want to fix yourself up before you come home." Big Mac had said, and she ran to the bathroom and saw in the mirror that her mane and tail was a mess. She quickly fixed it before going back out, and she saw Big Mac sitting down and when he saw her he just said one thing. "So it looks like we got a house guess for a little while, but how'd you plan on telling your little sister?"

"I don't know yet, but i was thinking about telling her tonight." He answered. and then he looked at Applejack. "And i was hoping to tell her with you there."

"Yeah, i think i can do that." She replied.

"Oh, and Applejack don't worry about work today i'll cover for ya." Big Mac had said. She just gave her brother a smile of gratitude. He got up and hugged her. "I'm so happy to see you this happy." Then he started to walk out of the door but she could see a tear going down his face.

"What you'r leaving? But i barley just got here." Pumpkin was on the verge of crying.

"Listen sugercube, your brother will only be gone for a little bit, and you get to stay with us during that time." Applejack said, Song had been silent for a minute trying to figure out how to say exactly what she just said. He looked at her and gave her a smile. "And hey he's still here for the next day or two, so you still have that time to spend with him, and i'm sure he won't be gone for that long." She said trying to comfort the young filly, but her comfort could only go so far and so she looked at Song and he got the message.

"Yeah, we'll do what ever you want just me and you." He said, and Pumpkin looked at both of them with some tears running down her face.

"Alright, what i want to do is hang out with my new friend." She answered sadly. Song knew that she knew about him and Applejack. For a filly her age she was a lot smarter then what other ponies thought for her age. He just gave her a hug to thank her. "But when you get back you owe me big time." She whispered in his ear.

"Sure thing, now why don't you pack some cloth's and some of your toy's and i'll take them over later." He said, so Pumpkin ran to her bedroom and started to pack. "She is a lot smarter than what i thought, i mean she seems to know about me and you. Are you sure Big Mac didn't say anything?" He asked turning his head to Applejack.

"Nah, he wouldn't. But i know what you mean about your little sis though." She answered and gave him a kiss.

"Gross, i know that's what couples do but can you not do any kissing in front of me? Or at least while i'm in the same building as you two?" Pumpkin had said, which brought a smile to Song's face and Applejack just blushed, but just to mess with his little sister he leaned in and gave Applejack a long kiss. "Aaah, stop it my eye's are burning!" Pumpkin screamed closing her eyes and started to go toward the door. "I'll be over at Apple Blooms" Song and Applejack just laughed as the young filly ran out of the house.

The next few days flew by, and it was time for him to leave. As he made arrangements for a house sitter, he made his last rounds of his catering business and said good bye to everypony. Which when he got to the train station just about every citizen of Ponyville had come to send him off, but there was only two ponies he wanted to see before he left and there they were waiting or him.

"Hey there you are, you know your train is about to arrive right?" Applejack asked giving him s small smooch on his cheek, Pumpkin made a gagging motion so he grabbed Applejack and tilted her back and gave her a nice long kiss, which caused a lot of the crowd to whoop and holler. We even heard somepony yelling for us to get a room, but we just ignored them as we kissed. He broke the kiss and looked down and stared into her eyes, she just blushed hard and got out of his grip. "You, umm, better get a ticket before your train arrives." She said being embarrassed.

He went and got his ticket, and then until it was time to go him, Applejack, and Pumpkin spent some time together. The big crowd that had gathered to send him off kept them busy then his train arrived. It came to quick is what he thought, this isn't fair he just got the pony of his dreams and his sister had finally moved here as well, this was just wasn't fair.

"Well i guess i'll see all of you when i get back, and Pumpkin make sure you behave while i'm gone." He said, then turned to Applejack who just put her hoof over his mouth to prevent him from saying those words and gave him a kiss. When she pulled away he had a smile on his face, for they knew that no words were needed. He got on the train after saying good bye to the other ponies.

Once he got on the train and got to his seat and opened his window. As the train whistle went off and the train started moving he waved to them all, and gave a wink to Applejack. After the train left the crowd started to thin out until it was just pretty much the Apple family and Pumpkin, and eventually even they went home.

But that was two months ago...
