Bright Lights, Quiet Life.
Neon knocked on the wooden door, he anxiously fixed up his shades. The wind blew as if a giant fan was aiming down on the small town of Ponyville, where, the famous DJ hoped to find one his most dearest friends.
Neon's ears twitched as he heard a faint sound of music coming from the house, as he listened he sighed, surely this wasn't Vinyl's house! The music was classical, an obvious indication that she wasn't there; Vinyl Scratch hated classical, why in the world would she change opinions so quickly without telling him first?
Neon turned away from the door and reached out The Ponyville Press from his saddlebag, he levitated the newspaper to his face and read the advertisements column. It read: "DJ PON-3! AWESOME DJ WITH WICKED BEATS! TO HAVE HER COME TO YOUR PARTY MEET HER AT FIVE HOOFING STREET!"
He looked at the street sign, yes, this was Hoofing Street. The fifth house though? He looked to the house's mailbox, it had a large red five on one side.
After building up more confidence he knocked on the door once more, then the music stopped. "Come in!" A voice called from inside, Neon opened the door and started to trot in. The place was nice, if was decorated with paintings of different musical notes and sure did smell better than his apartment. The voice, which Neon presumed to be a mare's started up again; "I swear Vinyl! If this is you...!" Neon trotted into the hallway and into a room, where, an extremely annoyed mare stood. In her hooves was a large brown cello. Her coat was grey, and her mane was extremely messy.
Her expression turned from anger to embarrassment when she realised that, she was not talking to Vinyl Scratch. Her ears flattened, "Oh, I didn't know I was having a guest, pardon my rude interuption. I'll be right back, make yourself comfortable in the lounge-room."
Neon made his way to the lounge-room and sat down. After a few minutes the mare returned, her mane was fixed up and she seemed more awake. She sat beside him, "Hello, my name is Octavia Melody, what brings you here?" Octavia said calmly as she got comfy, Neon smiled, "Hey, I'm looking for my friend, DJ PON-3, is she home?" "I'm afraid not, but she will be returning in the afternoon. You can come back then if you wish." My heart dropped, "Ok, do you know anywhere I can go while I wait?"
Octavia gasped, "Oh, you are not from here are you? You can wait here you know. Would that be alright with you?" Neon took off his shades and looked into Octavia's eyes, "That would be great! Thanks!" Octavia stood up, "I'll get us a drink." Neon nodded and looked at the table in front of him, magazines spread out across it. He looked at them, they had such titles as: "Musicians Weekly", "Instruments and You" and "Play It, Mean It." Neon levitated one labelled "Dare to Dubstep" and started to read it, inside the magazine it displayed the newest music making software and DJ equipment.
He was up to the fifth page when Octavia came back in with a bottle of wine and two cups in her hooves, strangely enough she was walking on her two hind legs! She placed the items down on the table and returned to her spot on the couch. Neon looked at the bottle of wine, it was the very fancy kind, made in Trottington. She poured a glass and glanced at Neon, "Do you drink wine?" "Yeah, a bit." Octavia poured the second glass, "Vinyl doesn't care for it, she's more into cider or beer."
Neon took a sip, it was very sweet with a bitter after taste. "I didn't quite catch your name," Octavia said after taking a few delicate sips, "Neon, Neon Lights, or MC-W1SH." Octavia giggled, "So you're a DJ too I presume?" Neon nodded and smiled, "Yep! I used to do big concerts with Vinyl when she lived in Canterlot." "I must say, I am jealous! You must of spent so much time with her, I barely see her through the day!"
"Octavia, are you Vinyl's roomate?" Neon asked as he put down the drink, "Yes, I do live with her." "Ahh... Are you a musician too?" "Isn't it obvious?" Octavia laughed as she gestered towards her cutie mark, "I play cello, that's what I was doing when you got here. All morning I had been playing a piece I was going to play at the Grand Galloping Gala."
Neon raised his eyebrow, "Wow, the triple G? That's awesome!" Octavia put down her glass, "Yes, well I wish Vinyl would come this year, she says it's to fancy."
"Oh! Look at the time! It's one o'clock already! I better get ready! Lyra and Bon Bon will be arriving in an hour!"
