It was a lazy summer afternoon in Ponyville and in the emerald fields that skirted the town Rainbow Dash was taking a nap beneath a tree. Work had long since finished for the day and there was still plenty of sunlight to make use of so the pegasus had taken the small liberty of resting where none may find her. None save Pinkie Pie that is.

Whether she had searched for her or stumbled on the cyan pony by chance Pinkie was not telling, but, she gently crept along the fresh field and settled beside the pegasus, only to watch the little athlete's chest dance to the rhythmic breaths of sleeps. She sat for some time, enjoying her unknowing company and nestled in the sweet scents of fresh grass in a peculiarly placid nature.
Eventually though the peace past and Pinkie Pie reached a hoof gingerly towards her friend, nudging ever so softly against her shoulder, rousing the other pony from slumber. Rainbow Dash responded in kind with a yawn and looked to the pink pony in half sleepy stupor. She opened her mouth to say some form of greeting to the other mare but Pinkie placed a hoof to the pegasus' mouth and silenced her.

Bemused, Rainbow Dash grinned but honoured the Earth pony with silence. No doubt she wanted to play some kind of game and Dashie was one to oblige. She watched in silence and Pinkie Pie placed both hooves over her eyes, masking each of joyous azure jewel from Rainbow Dash. So Rainbow Dash couldn't speak and Pinkie Pie couldn't see. Was that it? Apparently not. Pinkie Pie relinquished the blindfold and grimaced in flush of annoyance. Apparently Rainbow Dash had done something wrong, albeit without having any idea what.

Calming herself, Pinkie Pie took another approach and reached for Rainbow Dash's front hooves. There was a small hesitation, a quiver, as Pinkie initially shied from the touch, but she found a new steel and gripped both arms, leading them up to Rainbow Dash's face. Rainbow Dash quickly got the idea and covered her ears, unbottleing an embarrassingly girly giggle as she did so. She was thankful her hooves masked her cheeks because she could taste the soft blush of embarrassment painting them crimson.

Then, she waited. Silent as a mouse and as blind as a mole. Seconds gave way to minutes and the pegasus came close to folding when it happened.

A small gentle and wet peck on the nose. Her face tingled at the undeniable touch of another pony's lips. Falling back in shock, Rainbow Dash thudded heavily against the the tree and passed a curse internally. Coming to her senses she looked outwards and found Pinkie Pie staring expectingly, no more then an inch from her face. Pinkie was never one to shy from intimacy but this was a new level. There was something in those azure eyes... a burning hope, riddle with fear. Great expectations battled with preparations for the worst.

Staring at her, all in silence, Rainbow Dash flushed hotly. A well of emotions poured forth and the poor little pegasus' mind struggled to keep up with them. It was just too sudden. How could she be expected to react to this? How could she figure out what to do so soon? Pinkie watching ever so intently... ever so fragile... She just didn't know the answer... or did she.

Inside her chest the pegasus' heart marched two fold but she ignored it. Her whole face bathed in crimson but she ignored it. Her legs trembled in nervousness but she ignored it.

Instead, she leant forward and nuzzled Pinkie Pie's cheek with a smile. She felt the relief wash across the Pink Pony and the muscles relax. A smile sang in chorus to Rainbow Dash's own and the two pulled back to look at other. The two locked eyes then kissed, properly, for the first time.

Pinkie giggled and embarrassment riddled Rainbow Dash instantly... but she soon found herself joining in. This went on for some time and the two soon found themselves laying besides each other, in the grass, hysterics rattling their bodies.

Eventually though, they calmed down and Pinkie Pie turned to Rainbow Dash. “I just didn't know how to say it.” she told the pegasus.

Author's Note

Prompt #1: “Hush”
Write a Rainbow Pie story in which one (or both) of the characters does not utter a single word of dialogue for the entire story.

I figured I may as well start with the very first prompt and so this is the first piece of romance I have ever written... and I am first to admit it is nothing if not fluffy.
