Within the lore of Roanoak the Royals, the Alicorns that rule, share a magical bond with their lands… A common term is "The Land and Crown are One", and it is this bond that grants them their power and allows them to be as ageless as their rule.

This "Will of the Land" is something of a sentience, and a mere fragment of the magic of the world, but is still so immense and without scale as to be nearly inconceivable in scope. The Ruling Alicorns serve as a conduit between the desires of the Tribes, and the Will of the Land, and while they serve to apply the power they are granted for the betterment of their Ponies, they still suffer from what they call "The Flaw of Heart"… They are ageless and immensely powerful, but still subject to the same emotions as mortal ponies, and this can lead to the same errors in judgement - only with consequences far more dire.

Aurora has recently had a few of these errors in judgment, and her self-doubt has driven her to speak with the Will of the Land, to see if she is still worthy of her power…
