You sigh as you scan over your former home for the last time. Each moonlit building you lay your eyes on brings back more and more painful memories, until your eyes finally come to rest on something out of a foal’s book. It was a large, two story gingerbread house, and as soon as you see it, the image of a straight haired pink pony hits you like a freight train. You shiver slightly as a tears start to trickle down your cheek. You take a deep breath and exhale before getting to your hooves and turning away from the small village. A large, dark forest greets you, stretching out on either side as far as the eye can see. Even with the full moon above, no light seems to be penetrating the canopy of the tightly packed trees. A few more deep, steady breaths later, you start to walk towards the pitch black forest. Three black shapes separate themselves from the trees and make their way towards you, their black, chitinous bodies glinting in the moonlight, their sky blue eyes locked on to yours. The middle creature takes a step towards you as you approach. His voice is like a whisper, a lot like another pony you used to be friends with. “Are you ready?” He asks softly. You close your eyes and exhale slowly before nodding. The three creatures nod as one and turn back towards the forest, and you follow without complaint. You pause before you enter the trees, your head unintentionally glancing back over your shoulder towards the town. “Goodbye Pinkie. I’m sorry.” You whisper before turning your head and following the three hole filled creatures into the trees.
You follow the three deeper and deeper into the forest, your heart growing heavier with each step you take. After what seems like an eternity, the three creatures finally emerge into a small clearing on a hillside, the whole scene gently lit by the moon. The three creatures turn towards you as one, each staring into your eyes, their flat, sky blue orbs burning into yours. An unspoken statement passes from them to you, and you nod. The middle creature nods, fluttering his insect like wings and diving into a small crevice in the rocks. The other three follow suit, leaving you to take one last look at the full moon before following. You follow the creatures deeper and deeper into the cave system, passing various branches. At each branch, more and more of the pony creatures silently fall in behind you, each pair of eyes staring at you. After what seems like forever, you finaly reach a large, ornately carved set of heavy wooden doors. Both seem to glow a sickly green before silently opening. Inside was a large black marble cavern with a rather simple black throne at the center. Perched upon that throne was the largest creature, pony or otherwise, that you had ever seen. She smiles sadly at you and slowly descends from her throne. “You have accepted this?” she asks softly, her odd double voice echoing off the walls with a haunting tone. You nod without pause, fully accepting what was to come. The large insect-like pony nods back. “Very well.” She says after a few moments pause. Her horn flares slightly and she turns towards a door in the back of the room, motioning for you to follow her. As you enter the room, you can’t help but glance around. It’s a large room, easily double the size of the throne room you just left, lit by a sickly green glow emanating from dozens of pony sized holes in the floor. Each hole is filled with a green gel like substance, and in each pit, you can see a pony; or at least they were ponies, at one point or another. Each was either partially or fully converted into a creature similar to those that greeted you in the forest. You finally gaze back up at the larger pony like creature. She had come to a stop next to an empty pit, and was looking back at you with an almost sad, yet warm smile. She nods down towards the pit. This was it; you take a deep breath and sigh, slowly dropping down into the hole and lying down on the bottom. The pit slowly starts to fill with green goo as soon as you lie down, and the larger creature leans down, planting a kiss on your forehead. “Welcome home.” She whispers before your head is swallowed up by the goop. You take a deep breath, filling your lungs with the viscous fluid. The image of a sad pink pony with a straight mane and teary blue eyes crosses your mind for one last time before you fall into a deep, calm, endless slumber.
