Twilight walked into her room at the castle, tired after a long day of her royal duties, and looked around the room that she had become so familiar with over the weeks of traveling from Ponyville to Canterlot for her to be able to perform her duties as a Princess of Equestria. Her room was painted a beautiful shade of light purple that, in the morning, shone a brilliant translucent color around the room upon the suns touch. The ceiling has the image of her cutie mark imprinted masterfully on it, the stars perfectly shaped the way they were on her flank.

The carpet she stood on was a dark lavender color, soft to the touch, magically changed to be softer than the clouds in the sky themselves. On the left side of the room stood double doors, that led out onto a circular balcony that had a view of the whole of Canterlot, with a telescope attached to it that Twilight had brought with her to watch the stars while she was there.

Her bed sat sideways at the end of the room, against the wall. The bed was large and round, the sheets on top of it being a royal blue color with golden fringe on the outer edges of them, with four fluffy light blue pillows against the bedpost. A small brown bedside table with a small yellow lamp sat beside it. At the foot of the bed stood a regalia rack that already held four hoof regalia with four extra spaces for another set next to them.

Twilight's horn glowed, the purple glow surrounding the regalia on her hooves and her crown. The regalia floated off her feet as she lifted them and went into the rack, her crown floating gently off her head and landing on the bedside table with a small ‘clink’ she sighed a long drawn out sigh as she shook out her wings and fluffed them up.

She looked at the large mahogany doors to the balcony and slowly walked over to them, deep in thought, and opened them with a hoof, walked outside and looked out at the city of Canterlot as she thought about what had happened during her day.

Ponies had come up to her during court time, trying to schmooze her over. They thought that they could get higher up in Canterlot society if they would get a date with the new princess so they could have more leverage. They also tried reasoning with her, trying to make her move to Canterlot fully, and not live in a “backwater country town such as Ponyville that was unfit for a princess.” when she, oh so calmly, began to tell them that her best friends were there and it was a great town that she would never leave for the world.

The nobles became speechless after that and left once she told them that. She wasn't happy at all that she had to explain this continuously to multiple noble ponies all throughout the day.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she put a hoof to her chest, before slowly taking the hoof away and opening her eyes as she breathed out. She looked up, watching the night sky sparkle as the white stars shone and danced across Equestria. She looked back down at her back and opened her wings wide, staring silently at them before closing them tightly against her side and looked forward, “Sometimes, I wish I wasn’t a princess...” She whispered, her eyes closed before opening them and walking back into her room, unaware of the shooting star that flew across the sky at that very moment.

Her bed was hard. That was what Twilight noticed first when she opened her eyes the next day. The next thing she noticed, once she stood up from the hardwood floor, was that her room was completely barren and devoid of everything it used to have, it was just a gray cube, and there was no shade on the windows, making it easy for her to see that the sun was just coming up over the horizon. A sunrise.

She frowned, wondering why the sun wasn't moving from its position like it was supposed to and what Celestia was doing to keep it in that spot.

Her horn glowed a brilliant purple as she decided to ask Celestia what she was doing and teleported to the throne room. What she saw terrified her. The throne room didn't look at all like the cheerful, happy place it was supposed to be. It was full of dark, twisted monsters who had changed it to their designs, for a start, sitting on three individual thrones at the end of the room was Nightmare Moon, Discord, who she had thought was reformed, and Queen Chrysalis, the Changeling queen.

The room was painted a dark black to give it an evil feel and appearance, cocoons hung from the ceiling and walls around the room, every single one filled with a pony, and all around the room were pink fluffy cotton candy clouds, the only bright thing inside the room, with weird structures on the floor that Twilight couldn't identify.

Twilight waited for them to attack her, but Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis, and Discord didn't even seem to notice her as she lied on the floor, outnumbered and worried. They just continued talking to each other and ignoring her altogether, like she did not exist at all, as they messed around with something she couldn't see in their hooves.

Twilight took a deep breath to lesson her fear and shakily stood up to face them, “What did you do to Luna and Celestia!?!” She yelled, her knees shaking together loudly. The creatures in the thrones didn't seem to hear what she had said, “I said, what did you do to the princesses!” She yelled louder, trying to get some sort of response from them.

Someone laughed behind her, “They can't hear you, you don't exist.” A voice filled with amusement said from behind her.  She turned around and was surprised to see who was watching her.

“Luna?” Twilight asked, confused as she looked behind her at Nightmare Moon and back.

Luna shook her head, her main flowing freely, “I am not Luna, I am just assuming her form so that you would be comfortable speaking to me better. My name is Comet, I know who you are, you’re Twilight. Are you enjoying your wish Twilight? she asked.

Twilight frowned, confusion written plainly on her face, “What wish?” She asked.

Comet smiled as her head went to the side, “Your wish to not exist of course.” She said smiling as she batted her eyes.

Twilight's eyes opened wide as her head rang in alarm, “I never wished not to ever exist!” She exclaimed.

Comet frowned condescendingly as she bored her eyes into Twilights, “Then let me shed some light to remind you the wish. You said you wished you weren't a princess, sound familiar to you now?” She asked.

Twilight scratched the back of her head with a hoof, knowing she had said that, “Well, yes, I did say that, but I never said I wish I did not exist.” She said.

Comet rolled her eyes as she shook her head, “You don't quite understand this do you? The moment you were born, you were destined to be great at magic, and destined to be a princess, that is why you are an alicorn now. You were born to be a princess. You cannot wish away what must be destiny.” She explained.

Twilight swallowed, thinking about this information, “So...since I wished to not be a princess, I was never born to begin with at all?” She asked, putting the pieces together.

Comet shrugged, “You were not born to your family, but somepony else was born in your place, as things usually go in these situations, a pony must replace another. A lovely white pegasus mare by the name of Sunny Sparkle, great pony at making the nobles happy anyway she can.” She said.

Twilight nodded, a small tear falling from her eye unnoticed. She turned to look back at the three thrones, “Why are they not as evil as when they first appeared, and is Sombra in charge of the Crystal Empire?” She asked,, unsure why the three masterminds of evil were just talking about something she couldn't hear.

Comet sighed, like she was tired of explaining, as she looked at the new rulers, “Sombra was defeated by those three, he wouldn't have helped them out anyway, they didn't trust him and vice versa. He was useless so he was destroyed the same way as when you were born and got rid of him, only with Chrysalis and Discord instead of your brother and Cadence. Discord is a very good throw.

Nightmare did successfully cause eternal night for about three weeks, before getting many complaints that ponies were dying left and right because they were unable to grow food to survive. Instead of eternal night, she made eternal sunrise. Technically To her it is still night, and the ponies were still able to grow food to survive, with what little light she allowed. When Discord was released from his prison, he learned very quickly that this ages ponies are much more fragile then when he first appeared because of Nightmare Moon. So he was unable to manipulate them without destroying them completely, he instead makes candy clouds and changes the way the environment looks in place of manipulation.” She said.

“None of that explains why the changeling queen is not attacking anypony for their love.” Twilight said, looking at the thrones holding her enemies.

Comet shook a hoof in disinterest, “She is the easiest to explain.” She said, “When she came to Equestria, her idea the same as when you were in Equestria, Nightmare Moon had intercepted her and offered her all the love she could ever want from her subjects, and a whole other country to rule over alongside herself and Discord.”

“That seems a little odd of the Nightmare Moon I knew, but...if they are all here though...then where is Princess Celestia?” Twilight asked, worriedly.

Comet stared at her with an expressionless face, “She had nopony as her student and nopony to fill the elements of harmony completely, so she had no way to save herself from her corrupted sister. She is currently stuck inside of the sun, asleep and unable to ever leave.” She said.

“No!” Twilight yelled, more tears falling freely for her mother figure.

“Sadly, it is the truth.” Comet said, watching Twilight.

Twilight stared silently at the ground, “It s all my fault...” She whispered.

Comet sighed, “It is not your fault.” She said, sympathy leaking into her voice as she talked, “You could not have known a wish could come true, nopony actually knows, or that a wish would turn out this way. You remind me of myself, when I was your age.”

“What happened to you? Did you get hurt?” Twilight asked, looking up with a tear stained face.

Comet flinched, “That is a story for another time.” She said, her voice turning cold.

“Sorry.” Twilight replied, wiping her eyes with a leg as she looked at the visage of Luna, “Can I see what you looked like before though?” She asked.

Luna’s shoulders shrugged, “I guess there is no actual harm in showing you.” Comet said, her body changing into a brilliant white as Twilight watched her transform from a tall alicorn princess into a normal pegasus mare. Her coat was a dark yellow while her mane and tail was a short dark spiky blue. Her eyes were a bright yellow that complimented her fur and she had a cutie mark that looked to be a shooting comet with fire trailing behind it. “What do you think? Comet asked.

Twilight gave a small smile, her initial fear of the situation she was in subsided, “I think you look beautiful...” She said, before she realized something and gasped, “Are my friends ok?! What happened to them here?!?” she asked, a new fear firing up inside her.

Comet smiled sadly, her yellow eyes piercing into Twilights gaze, “Your love for your friends is astounding, I can feel your worry amounting. Some of them are actually better off than the others, they are all very much alive though. Would you like to see them?” She asked.

Twilight nodded, “Yes, I would like to see them, take me to any of them, I don't care, I just want to see them.” She said.

“To the entrance of Ponyville then.” Comet said, nodding.

Twilight didn't see Comet use magic or even do anything to bring them to Ponyville, but one minute she was in the throne room with the bickering rulers walking wordless, and the next she was suddenly standing at the entrance to Ponyville.

“How did you do this? It should not be possible, only unicorns have magic and the ability to teleport.” Twilight said, looking wonderingly at Comet.

Comet shrugged, “It is a much different type of magic, you will get used to it. Now, the first pony you will see is Pinkie Pie. Look right over there.” She said, pointing a hoof in front of them.

Twilight turned her head and saw Pinkie Pie, sitting down in the dirt, staring intently into space with her hair completely straight and a sad frown on her face as she waited by the entrance.

Twilight looked at her friend with a worried expression, “Is Pinkie ok?” She asked.

Comet shook her head, “She felt like there was a problem a few years ago, on the day you were supposed to come to Ponyville. She didn't really know what the problem was, but she felt like something was missing in her life. She never leaves that spot, she sits there waiting for a pony that will never come. She is brought food and water by the other residents so she doesn't starve, even if they don't want her to be there.” She explained.

“They tried to get her to get away from there once, but she wouldn't come to get food and she was getting thinner, so they knew it was useless to try and get her to come back, so they started bringing food to her.”

“So she has been waiting for me, for three whole years?” Twilight asked, surprised.

Comet nodded, looking at Pinkie, “She is a very loyal, loving friend to do that.” She said, not answering Twilights question, yet answering it at the same time.

Twilight frowned worriedly, “Is there anything I can do to help her at all right now?” She asked.

“There is nothing than can be done for her.” Comet said simple as she looked at Twilight.

Twilight sighed, her whole body shaking as she processed all this before looking back up at Comet, “Can you show me what Rarity is doing now?” She asked quietly.

Comet nodded, “Of course I can.” She said, as the environment began to change in front of Twilight from the quiet country town of Ponyville, into the bustling city of Canterlot, inside of a frilly white clothing shop.

Twilight Smiled sadly, “She actually made it to her dream job? Thats great.” She said, looking at the floor.

Comet frowned and looked around the shop, “Actually no, she is actually an assistant to another designer. She couldn't figure out a way to work out her own career enough to get to the top on her own, so she got a job from another pony in Canterlot to do so.” She said, looking to a door in the back of the room, “She is probably fixing a dress in the backroom.”

“Oh...” Twilight muttered, guilt plainly on her face.

“Yes...” Comet said, reading her facial expression, “Do you still want to go on and see the others?” She asked.

Twilight nodded forcefully as she looked at Comet, “Yes, I want to continue, I have to know. I need to see.” She said, hitting her hoof against the floor.

Comet sighed, expecting a much different answer, “Very well, continuing on then to the city of Cloudsdale.” she said, blinding her eyes, instantly the shop changed into clouds and the huge ceiling into the sky. “Rainbow Dash, after Nightmare Moon took over Equestria and the Wonderbolts, was able to join the newly minted Wonderbolts, renamed the Shadowbolts to reflect her majesty.” Comet started, steel in her voice as she said ‘Majesty’.

“Once she got inside, she saw how they operated, hurting anypony who went against Nightmare and her laws. She was unable to leave the team, in the threat of banishment or death, so instead she works undercover for the resistance whenever she can get away from the brainwashed Spitfire.” She finished.

Twilight listened and thought over the information, “That sounds horrible! If Spitfire is brainwashed and all the others as well, how did Rainbow overcome her brainwashing?” She asked.

“She was never brainwashed to begin with. Nightmare could see the unawake loyalty burning in her eyes and her heart, and thought that she wouldn't betray her as long as the other elements were not found. So she left her with her own mind, as a gift.” Comet said, watching as three pegasi, one with a rainbow mane trailing behind, flew over where they stood, clad in black outfits.

“Hmmm...” Twilight muttered, “You said something about a resistance, what does that imply, can you tell me a little bit about it?” She asked.

Comet smirked, amused, “You do not actually think that everypony accepted Nightmares rule when she appeared did you?” she asked, walking closer to Twilight, “There would be ponies who would want to fight against her, and if they aren't destroyed, there is a resistance that recruits and takes them in, trains them, that sort of thing.

The more ponies they have, the more power they get. The resistance is the only main fighting force against those three tyrants, everypony else is too afraid to do anything. The leader of the resistance was a strong, handsome unicorn stallion, but he was ultimately struck down by Nightmare during a raid on the castle, the resistance lost a great stallion that  day, but they had to continue on for him, and voted Rainbow as the new leader.” She said, circling Twilight as she spoke.

“Who...who was the leader?” Twilight stuttered, worried,  following Comet with her eyes.

Comet stopped in front of Twilight and faced her, a sad frown on her face, “Your brother, Shining Armor.” She said simply.

“No!” Twilight yelled, “He was my big brother...” she whispered.

“Unfortunately yes, he was very brave to the end, even in the eyes of defeat and death when Nightmare gave him to Chrysalis to be fed to her swarms.” Comet said.

Twilights whole body shook as she listened to the pegasus speak, “Stop.” She whispered, trying to keep from crying.

Comet didn't hear her, “When the drones attacked, he didn't even scream as they ripped him apart, so very brave...” she continued, putting a hoof to her chin.

“I said stop! Why are you telling me all this?!?!” Twilight screamed, some tears escaping.

Comet put her hoof down and frowned, “You wanted to know about what happened, so I am telling you.” She said, her voice like ice.

“I didn't know it would be this bad! I didn't know I was so important I would change the whole world if I wasn't a princess.” Twilight said.

Comet smirked mockingly, “You didn't think you were important.” She muttered, looking Twilight in the eye, “You are as important as the next pony, and any other. Every single pony in the world is important as a whole to some degree, but you are just a little bit more important. You are the princess of friendship, Luna was the princess of the night in your world, Cadence was the princess of love, and Celestia was the princess of the morning, those are the most important things out there in the world, without one, the world is changed forever.” She explained, “Do you understand now how important you actually are?” she asked.

Twilight nodded, “Yes, I do.” She said, before sighing.

Comet gave a small smile, “Great, then we can continue on.” She said.

“Wait!” Twilight yelled, wanting to stay where they were for a bit, as the scene changed into a dark brick room, “...Where are we?” she asked uncertain.

“Prison!” Comet said, sounding happy as she stretched the ‘I’ out.

Twilight looked around the prison, “Why are we in a prison, is one of my friends here?” She asked worriedly.

Comet picked up a hoof and looked at it as she answered, “Yes, one of your friends broke Nightmares law, she was supposed to get the death penalty, but Discord talked her down to years in prison instead, said he didn't like death much.” She said.

Twilight's mouth opened wide in shock, “What did she do, and why would any of my friends do something illegal?” She asked.

“Hmmm, well for one she went into the Everfree Forest, which Nightmare forbid anypony from going into, I think you can imagine why, and she was also too friendly to the animals for Chrysalis’s liking.” Comet said, putting down her hoof.

Twilight's mind clicked as she figured out what Comet implied, “Fluttershy?” She asked.

Comet nodded, “Correct, would you like to hear what is going on?” She asked. Without waiting for Twilight to answer, she blinked and a voice sang out through the walls.

“What is this place, full of so many wonders.” It sang. Twilight was about to speak, but Comet put a hoof to her lips, signalling her to be quiet as the song continued.” Squirrels in the trees and cute little bunnies...” After they had listened to the song to its finished, Comet made everything go silent again.

Comet turned to Twilight, “If you speak while being able to hear what is going on in the world around you, anypony around will be able to see and hear you.” she explained, before Twilight could open her mouth.

Twilight looked around the dark prison again and noticed one thing missing, “If she is in there, then where is the door?” She asked, looking for a way into the cell.

“Nightmare used her magic to get rid of it, turning it into a wall. She is stuck inside of a four walled room.” Comet said.

“How long has she been in there?” Twilight asked.

Comet shrugged, “A few years, maybe three or four.” she replied.

Twilight frowned, “She must be scared and depressed. She can't handle being in jail, she also could be starving.” She said sadly.

Comets frown showed compassion as she looked towards Twilight for the first time, “Nightmare put a spell on the cell so that Fluttershy wouldn't need to be fed, and you are right about her not being able to handle it in there. She sings the song you just heard every day for five hours straight to feel better. She may or may not be mentally unstable now, but it helps her cope, anyway she can, singing the song she sang when she got her cutie mark.”

Twilight nodded, before a question came into her mind, “How do you know everything about what we did and what has happened here?” She asked suspiciously.

Comets eyes opened in surprise as she looked at Twilight, “It is a part of the wish I made, being able to know and remember these places.” she sighed, turning away, “I always want to take it back, but that kind of wish can't be changed without others help.” she said.

Twilight looked at her, wondering what exactly Comet had wished for to make her unhappy, but she knew not to pry, “I am sorry you had an awful experience.” She said honestly.

Comet shook her head with a small smile visible on her face, “Even when in the same boat as me, you care more about somepony you don't even know over yourself. I can tell you I am just fine where I am, I’m used to it now.” She said, her voice betraying her.

Twilight smiled, detecting her tone, “I care more for others than myself because friendship is everything to me. My friends taught me that. I care for everypony, no matter who I meet.” She said.

Comet chuckled, “Where I go, friendship is not an option. It also isn't possible. Everything to me is flight now.” she said, stretching her wings out, “It was all I had left.” Her wings tucked back against her sides.

She looked around again, “Anyway, lets get out of this gloomy place, we still have to go to your last friend, and I want you to hear what is said.” she said, shaking her shoulders as she made the scene change, the sound of birds singing ranged in Twilight’s ears as the prison changed into a beautiful meadow, that actually had the sun overhead.

Twilight looked over at Comet, who seemed to be looking confused by the meadow that seemed untouched by the Nightmare, “This is where Applejack is?” She asked.

While Comet looked around, she shook her head, “Applejack is not here in a green meadow, but somepony else is though...” She replied.

“Who?” Twilight asked, looking around.

Comet looked at Twilight with a half smile, “I assume you know of a pony named Trixie, blue unicorn mare, little bit boastful, wears a wizard hat?” she asked.

Twilight nodded slowly, “Yes, I made friends with her after the last time I met her before becoming an Alicorn. She is a nice honest pony now.” she said, opening and closing her wings to emphasise her point.

Comet nodded in understanding, “That explains it then! She is one of your friends, and since we are seeing your friends lives, we teleported here. I don't know why it didn't show the destination in my head though like it usually does...probably wasn't thinking of her.” She shrugged.

Twilight looked around where they stood, seemingly confused, “If this is where Trixie is, then why don't I see her?” she wondered. Her answer came a second later when the blue mare herself came into view on top of a hill a few feet away from them before she stopped and turned to look behind her. “What’s she doing?” She asked.

Comet looked over to the hill with disinterest, “Making sure she was not followed.” She replied.

Twilight lifted an eyebrow, “Who would be following her and why?” sSe asked, looking at Trixie.

“She was a prisoner to the changelings and was put into a cocoon you saw in the throne room. She was somehow able to break out, with only a few...side effects, and has been trying to find the resistance since.” Comet said, watching as Trixie turned around with a sigh of relief, before looking confused and starting to walk over to her and Twilights location as birds continued singing their songs.

“You might want to use a spell to hide your wings.” Comet said, looking at Twilight through the corner of her eyes.

“Why? I thought you said I couldn't be seen by anypony.” Twilight remarked, nonetheless she listened to Comet and used her magic to turn her wings invisible.

“Remember what I told you in the prison?” Comet asked, while Trixie walked over and stopped in front of Twilight.

When Twilight looked her over, she saw exactly what Comet had meant by side effects. Her eyes had changed into the compound changeling eyes with her own eye color and Twilight was able to see small, unformed bug wings on Trixie’s back. Her coat also seemed to be closer to an exoskeleton then to her normal fur coat.

Trixie looked at Twilight, distrust in her eyes, “Who are you? How did you get here, are you part of the resistance or are you chasing after me too?” she asked, her voice sounding slightly insect like as she stared intently at Twilight.

Twilight smiled nervously, “I honestly don't know how I got here, My name is Twilight, this is Comet.” she said, pointing to the pegasus.

Trixie looked at Comet with a frown, her eyes searching, before turning to look at Twilight, “I see nopony named Comet that you speak of, are you sure you are actually sane?” She asked.

Twilight turned to Comet, confused, “She can't see you?” She asked, while Trixie stared at her.

“I have been gone for years. I am no longer able to be seen by other ponies who have not wished, for I am nothing besides dead in a wish.” Comet said, sitting down in the grass.

“Oh.” Twilight muttered.

Trixie sighed, “Just my luck that I meet an insane pony. Just for once I want to find one pony who hasn't gone crazy!” she exclaimed, “I am going now, I need to find what I am looking for, strange unicorn.” She said, pushing past Twilight.

Twilight ran in front of her, “Wait Trixie I'm not crazy, I am your friend!” she said worriedly, smiling widely.

Trixie stared at Twilight in terror with her compound eyes, “I don't know how you know Trixie’s name, but I have to go...bye!” She screamed, pushing Twilight out of the way and running as fast as she could away as Comet smirked.

“That was interesting.” She said.

Twilight looked at where Trixie had ran off too, before taking the spell off her wings, “Her life seems so much worse here then when she was just a show mare. Now she is a part changeling hybrid!” She said, turning back to face Comet.

Comet shrugged as she muted the meadow again, and if anypony had been watching, they would have seen an alicorn vanish into thin air, ‘Yes, that is unfortunate, but that is the way things work sometimes. Some things change for the better, others for worse.” she said. “Do you want to continue on to Applejack now?” She asked, wanting to finish this.

Twilight sighed as she took one last look at where Trixie had gone, “Yes, I do.” She said.

Comet nodded, “Ok, hopefully I get it right this time and you have no other friends I don't know about.” She muttered, as the grass changed into a hard stone floor and the open air into a dimly lit cave full of ponies, unicorn, pegasi and earth ponies alike, running around.

Twilight looked around and yelled in surprise as a yellow unicorn pony passed through her, carrying food, “Where are we?” She asked.

“We are in the resistance hideout, where Applejack is second in command to Rainbow Dash. She is also right over there giving orders.” Comet said, pointing a hoof to the left to an open room before letting the sound back in.

“And remember, we need to find this mare named Trixie. She escaped from a cocoon and has valuable information. She has also probably been changed a bit, so if you see a half changeling pony, Do. Not. Attack. We need her alive” Applejack instructed, emphasising her point by smacking her hoof against the floor, to a group of fifteen ponies. She didn't look much different besides her hat having a lot of holes drilled into it.

The ponies all nodded as one and ran out of the room to fulfill their duties. Applejack smiled and walked out of the room as well.

The sound suddenly left the room and Comet smiled, “Isn't this impressive?” She asked.

“If I am being honest here it is kind of impressive, but two of my friends are in a resistance fighting for their lives, one being undercover for Nightmare, one as an assistant to another pony instead of having her dream, one is in prison and another is waiting for me when I will never come! I hate that I made this wish!” Twilight yelled, breaking down and finally letting her emotions take over as she lied on the ground.

Comet sat down and watched her, before she spoke, “So now you understand the huge risk of a small wish?” She asked.

“Yes...” Came Twilight’s muffled reply as her face lied against the floor.

“Alright.” Comet said, bringing them back to Twilights changed bedroom, “Would you like to listen to my story now then? We have nopony else to see and all the time in the world.” She suggested.

Twilight slowly brought herself up to a sitting position, “Sure.” She said, traces of tears on her muzzle as her mane frazzled.

“Alright.” Comet said, walking over to Twilight and putting a wing around her as she sat by her. “Its hard to remember how many years ago I wished for what I did, but I know if I didn't I would probably be dead. I loved acting as a foal, and I had my own idol, a pony who I wanted to be like when I was young, but I was never able to become who I wanted to be. On my twenty first birthday, during a star filled night, I wished to become a shooting star. I meant a shooting celebrity actor that became famous overnight, but wishes, I learned, are taken quite literally by the night sky, and I was turned into a shooting star in the sky.

I decided to change my name to Shooting Star, so I would never forget my stupid mistake as I flew across the sky every night.  I became bitter, unhappy and angry at everything as the years grew longer, until you wished on me last night. I was able to form your wish the way I perceived it, and not the way normal stars see it, so you wouldn't actually have never been born and never been a princess.” Comet explained.

“What?” Twilight asked, “What do you mean by that?”

“I mean,” Comet started, “that I made it so your wish wasn't taken as literally as mine. Your life is not changed forever like mine was, this is a world I created to show you what would happen if you really didn't exist. I figured if I had to mess up, I could at least help somepony else not to screw everything up for themselves like me.” She said smiling.

“I...I don't know what to say...” Twilight said, surprised.

“I do.” Comet said, “Sleep.” She whispered into Twilights ear.

Twilight looked at her, unsure, “What?”

“Go to sleep, and I will fix the wish to bring you back home.” Comet said, touching Twilight on the head with a hoof. She felt her eyes getting heavy and starting to close. She tried to keep them open, to ask what Comet had meant, but she was losing the battle, and in the end, she fell asleep on the floor of the room.

Comet smiled as she closed her eyes and stood up, “Sweet dreams, Princess Twilight, savior of this stupid wish maker.” She said as she started using the last of her star magic to reverse the wish.

Twilight shot up from her bed in the castle, falling over the side of the bed onto the soft carpet and stood up, looking around frantically with wide eyes. her expression changed from shock and terror, into confusion as she continued to look around her room, “What?” She whispered, before remembering something and running out onto the balcony, looking at the bright morning goings on of Canterlot.

“It was all just a dream then?” She wondered, shaking her head as she walked back into her room, closing the balcony door behind her as she thought it a good idea to talk about her odd dream with Celestia.

Outside Twilight’s bedroom door stood a yellow pegasus mare, her flank adorned with a flaming comet cutie mark. She smiled as she listened in on the movement inside of the room, her ear against the door. She backed away and silently walked down the hallway, and disappeared. Finally free of her hundred year wish.
