Pony Shipping Poetry Compilation
The day was stunning, the sun was bright
As Equestria bathed in Celestia’s light.
Ponies danced and sang and played in the sun
For today was a day off, today was for fun.
A large festival was being held in all of the towns
For today was the day the sun most shone down.
Not a soul was hidden in the shadows of gloom
All enticed out by summer’s sweet perfume.
Everyone was happy in little Ponyville
Except for a mare sitting down on a hill.
She looked down at the town, deep in thought
And wondering why she felt so distraught.
She could see all the others, her friends happy and gay
As though nothing was wrong on summer’s first day.
Yet here she was, away from the crowds
With her only company being an oak and the clouds.
The mare had cream fur and the mane of a rose;
Colored two-tones of red like the flowers she grows.
Her coat was as soft as the grass under her hooves
Where her pawing had formed a few little grooves.
Roseluck lay on her back to enjoy the cool, wet grass
And wondered how long her bad luck would last.
“If only I hadn’t gone and blown off my head,
I would be there with my stallion!” she said.
“I hadn’t meant to get so angry with him,
Except for the fact that he was just so dim!
I meant to give them as a sign of my affection
But he wasn’t interested in my selection.
I grew him those roses, so precious to me
But he threw them away, why couldn’t he see?
And so to him, my affections were denied
He only wanted my body, not what was inside.”
Her lament at her status nowhere completed,
Roseluck let her hooves fall and sighed, defeated.
“I’ve long searched around, but no one has wanted
A mare whose treasure is not being flaunted.
Those perverts in Ponyville don’t care about love!
They merely see me as an angel from above
They wish me to sing for them heaven’s song,
But all of them leave me and don’t stay for long.”
Rose stared at the town and pondered her luck;
It hadn’t served well and now she felt stuck.
“The good ones have all gone and found home
While I am looking for the ones who still roam.
I long to find someone to end this distress
To feel from another love’s sweet caress;
I wish to hear heaven’s song sung to me by my own
Yet now here I stand, cast aside and alone.”
Yet none but the wind answered her cry
And even then it seemed a solemn reply.
The branches of the trees stretched forth to embrace
To wipe the tears streaming down her face.
Nature called to her and wished to fix
To tone of the mare’s words that hit her like bricks.
Sticks and stones did more than bones break;
Rose’s own troubled words caused her soul to ache.
Rose thought she was alone, up on that hill
Yet another listened with some vague thrill.
And as she listened to Roseluck’s lament
She felt a certain discontent.
How lonely she must be, to be out on her own
Without a soul to hear her bemoan!
She realized the sound had come from nearby;
Perhaps she could give a shoulder on which to cry.
The mare got up and walked around
And soon the object of her search was found;
Roseluck had gone and closed her eyes
Thinking the world hadn’t heard her cries.
The mare approached the other on the slope
Praying she could possibly give her some form of hope.
She sat herself down on the grass next to Rose
And slowly tapped her on the nose.
From deep in her daydream, Roseluck awoke
And saw another mare sitting under her oak;
She had purple eyes and a lavender coat.
The gentle smile on her face did denote
She wasn’t there to hassle or blame;
It almost seemed her predicament was the same.
And as she sat up and examined the sight
She recognized her: the librarian, Twilight.
When Twilight spoke, her voice was gentle:
“Don’t think I’m here to be judgmental.
I heard you voice your cries to the sky,
And came over because I was wondering why.
Speak plainly to me, let your words be true
For I am here and have been listening to you.
What has happened to make you depressed?
To keep you from being at the fair as a guest?”
While Roseluck was wary and suspicious of her,
It seemed like Twilight her feelings concurred.
So Rose decided to spill out her heart
And hoped Twilight would have some advice to impart.
“Oh Twilight,” Rose said, “I’ve already confessed
The ponies in town have kept me oppressed.
They want me not for my heart and soul;
To get me in bed has been their goal!”
“I have dated a few stallions and even some mares
Yet they all have simply become mere affairs.
None stay for long; they come and they’re gone.
They all used me like some unwitting pawn.
I look in the town and everypony has dates
Except for I; I have been spurned by the fates.
I don’t expect you, linked to royalty,
To quite understand what has befallen me.”
Twilight put a hoof on Roseluck’s shoulder.
“You think with my status my problems are over?
I’ve tried to find someone to be with, to be more than friends
Yet every stallion looks for different ends.
My connections for them are all that I’ve got;
As though I’d let my intellect rot!
So you see, dear Roseluck, we’re two of a kind;
For what we have inside the others are blind.”
“You said that you have been forgotten by fate
Yet isn’t that what brought us together this date?
You lament that no one has heard your song
Yet I’ve been singing with you on this hill all along.
You say you’ve been wandering, all on your own
Yet haven’t been noticing that you’re not alone.
Perhaps we could give each other a try.
If nothing else, we’ve both got a shoulder on which to cry.”
Rose looked at the mare, and felt her heart soar.
Something had told her she wasn’t alone anymore.
She smiled at Twilight, her first time today.
“Thank you for listening,” she heard herself say.
“I thought I had completely given up on love.
And yet you’ve come like a guardian from above.
Forgive my blunt speaking; it’s simply been a long time
Since someone has come and spoken my rhyme.”
“Shall we go and join the others?” Twilight asked.
“There’s still plenty of time; only half the day has passed.”
Roseluck smiled at her new friend
And followed Twilight to the fair to attend.
“To depression I had once been a slave
But around you,” Rose said, “I shall try to be brave.”
“No need to be brave,” Twilight said with a grin.
“Just remember in soul that you are my twin.”
