The forest floor crunched under Luna’s feet as she walked alone along the path which headed to Zecora’s hut. Beams of moonlight shone through the leaves of the Everfree’s trees, illuminating the forest in a soft glow. She had been this way only once before but the Everfree seemed to be forever changing. Trees moving, plants changing colors on their own, it would be difficult to know where she was if it wasn’t for the path, which the Ponyville residents had made to visit Zecora on their on time. The wind blew causing the whole forest to shiver. Luna shrugged the cold off and picked a few stray leaves off her tank top as she walked.
Luna continued to walk down the path, tiny bugs and crickets scrambling to avoid being crushed, some hissing or chirping at her. She wasn’t paying attention to them, though. She was here to see Zecora, the only person who would know what was wrong with her. It had been plaguing her since she had returned from her banishment, something was missing. Something she couldn’t put her finger on.
Perhaps it was her job? Raising the moon and the stars was her duty before she was banished but after she returned she has yet to regain it. Yet, why bother? What significance does raising the moon bring if somepony else can do the same thing and has done it for over a thousand years anyway. The humans who she had left behind? Perhaps, but she was not close to anyone back then nor did she grow increasingly close to the people in Ponyville during the Nightmare Night festival. It had been fun, sure, but they wouldn’t invite her out to lunch on a regular basis like a friend would. That’s what friends do, right? Go out to lunch with each other? Luna shook the thought off as she saw a red door that was carved into a large, misshapen tree.
She looked at the colorful bottles hanging from the crooked branches above. Then wind blew softly making the bottles clink together. It sounded like some form of music. Luna smiled, “How beautiful.”
“They are my own wind chimes, making music about as often as I make rhymes.” Luna turned to see a tall, dark woman standing in the doorway of the hut. Her black and white hair laid on her shoulders as her round gold jewelry glistened under what moonlight escaped through the leaves.
Luna nodded at her and stretched her wings out. “It’s good to see you, Zecora.”
Zecora beckoned Luna into the hut. “Come now child, no need to stay out there in the wild.”
Luna nodded once again, folded her wings down, and followed Zecora into the warm hut. She shut the door behind her and looked around. Different color bottles and a variety of books seemed to overflow from the shelves they sat upon. Decorated mask and spears hung from the wall, and a bubbling cauldron was in the middle of it all. The floor seemed to be carved out the tree itself, it was smooth but still had a woody texture under Luna’s feet. Luna sat down on one of the cushions on the floor
Zecora poured a purple looking liquid into two cups and carried one over to Luna and sat next to her. “Have a drink princess, for your problem we will access.”
Luna nearly dropped her cup but managed to keep the liquid from spilling. “H-How did you know that I wanted to talk to you about a problem?”
Zecora took a sip of her drink and chuckled. “No one walks through the Everfree at night only to come to me because their mood is bright. Talk now dear, no need to fear. I will listen to what you have to say and access your problem so that you may be on your way.”
Luna took a sip of her drink, which was surprisingly better tasting than she thought it was going to be. “Well, I don’t know what’s wrong, really. I just feel like something's…. Missing.”
Zecora nodded and placed a hand on Luna’s shoulder. “You shall find what you seek in someone who is not meek. They will be someone you do not expect but your future she will perfect.”
Luna drank the rest of her drink and looked at Zecora. “She?”
Zecora took the cup from Luna’s hand and stood up. “You’ll have to wait and see on your own to believe me.”
Luna sat up and dusted off her jeans. “I guess.” She headed towards the door and opened it before turning her head towards Zecora. “Thanks for the help, Zecora.”
Zecora sat the cups on the counter and bowed. “Glad I could be blessed to help you in your quest.”
Luna walked out into the chilly air and closed the door behind her. The moon was still out so she still had some free time left. She stretched her wings out and took to the air, ripping through the tree’s leaves and flew. The stars twinkled against her dark blue feathers. She sighed happily as the wind blew through her hair. She smiled and let a blue magic surround her transforming her simple black tank to a veneer shirt that opened like a v-neck and in the middle like a jacket, exposing her belly. Her long jeans transformed into navy blue shorts speckled with, what looked like, glitter.
Luna looked down and giggled at the thought of her sister seeing her. She hated Celestia’s rules about staying “formally dressed.” She obviously didn’t realize this is the new fashion for people of the night. She ran her hands down her exposed curvy sides and grinned. [i]At least these clothes show more than my ankles.
She saw the illuminated city of Canterlot begin to appear as she flapped her wings through the chilled air. Luna grinned as she began to make out certain buildings. She couldn’t wait to find her favorite bar and have a few drinks. Maybe then what Zecora said would make sense.
Luna descended into an alleyway, her bare feet touching the cool gravel. She walked to the end of the alley and looked both ways before she sighed in relief and remembered she didn’t have to worry so much tonight. The royal guards were far too busy with the royal wedding preparations at the castle to keep an eye on her.
Luna walked out onto the street looking for the familiar sign. Her face lit up as she saw the pink and blue neon that read “Toppers”. She turned down the alley right next to the bar and placed her hand on the cool stones. A few clicks sounded from behind the stones and a door swung open. A bulky figure with a beak stood in the doorway, his dark brown wings folded against his back. His lion tail flicked back and forth when he stepped to the side to let Luna step inside the entryway.
Luna smiled and waved at the bouncer as she closed the door behind her. “Hey, Charlie. How’s it been going?”
Charlie ran a hand through his curly brown hair and shrugged. “It’s been going alright. No drunken idiots have tried to start anything yet.”
Luna smirked. “Nobody would be stupid enough to start something with you around.” She patted his shoulder. “Keep a watch out for any guards just in case, alright?”
Charlie nodded as he folded his arms and laid his head back on the bricks.
Luna walked down the dark hall until she reached another door. As she opened the door the sound of soft rock pooled into the hallway. She walked into the room, shutting the door behind her. The familiar faded black sofas with a few people laying on them filled her sights. She looked over to see two girls, with short skirts too small for their figures and their tank tops, jaggedly cut too low to try and show off what little breast they had, hanging around the jukebox looking for any customers.
The lights in the bar were dim but she was used to it. Luna walked over to the bar counter and sat on a cushioned stool. On the wall were shelves filled with glasses of different shapes and sizes. Right in the middle of the shelves was a small sign that was carved out of wood that read ‘Glass Moon Pub’.
A tall woman with long purple hair and bat wings, which were sticking out of the slits of the back her t-shirt, was behind the bar table shining a wine glass. She sat the glass on a shelf and turned towards Luna with a fanged grin. “The usual, Luna?”
Luna put her elbow on the counter and rested her hand on her cheek. “The usual, Melody.”
She watched as Melody grabbed two different bottles from the fridge and mix them into a glass. She then sprinkled some type of herb into the drink.
It was always more fun to sneak around Canterlot at night but hanging out at the pub was not as stressful. Even with the royal wedding preparations there was bound to be a few guards still patrolling the streets. Not having to worry about some guard coming into the bar looking for a drink or someone to entertain him put her mind at ease.
The bartender laid the concoction in front of Luna, “Here you go,” she then bowed. “Princess of the night.”
Luna rolled her eyes and took a sip of drink, which made her tongue tingle. “Ha ha, Melody, very funny.”
Melody stood up and laughed. “You know I couldn’t resist. Besides, you need to lighten up, what, with your family expanding and all.”
Luna groaned and laid her forehead against the glass surface. “Do not remind me.”
A voice interrupted their conversation. “Having issues at the palace?”
Luna looked up to see a woman sitting beside her. She had long teal hair which ended around her waist, her black and green tank top barely covered her breast, her wings were frail like a dragonfly’s, and her black horn was crooked.
Luna shrugged. “I suppose.” She took another sip of her drink, the alcohol starting to make her head buzz lightly. “Nothing new.”
The woman smiled, her fangs glinted from what bar lights there was. “I thought you weren’t some big, bad villain anymore, Luna.”
Luna felt her cheeks flush as she narrowed her eyes. “I’m not.” She sighed. “But sometimes I wish I could be.”
Melody laid a glass full of a green substance in front of the stranger. “Here you go, Chrysalis.”
Chrysalis took the drink and grinned. “Thank you, and Melody?” Chrysalis beckoned Melody close and whispered something in her ear.
Melody nodded as she walked to the back room. “Well, better go check the supply closet.”
Luna raised an eyebrow. “You asked her to leave?”
Chrysalis to a swig of her drink. “Of course, don’t you want to talk in private?”
Luna looked back at the room and the few people on the coaches. “I suppose you’re right.”
The changeling turned so she could face Luna. “So, what do you mean you wish you could be a villain again?”
The princess looked down at her half-finished drink. “I really should not be talking about this.”
Chrysalis shrugged. “Hey, I’m not gonna tell anybody, gossiping to everypony isn’t my thing.” She winked. “I’m a listener.”
Luna felt her face flush. “Well, I suppose. It’s just, when I was evil, a villain I guess, I had a purpose, to make my beautiful night last for eternity, but now that I’m stuck in this goody two shoes role, I just don’t have a clear purpose anymore.”
Chrysalis shook her head which made her breast jiggle slightly. “Sounds like a problem to me. Don’t you raise the moon though?”
Luna blushed from the sight and turned her head. “No, Celestia hasn’t allowed me to return to that task since I’ve returned.” She scoffed and picked up her drink. “I can’t even go anywhere without having to sneak out of the castle.”
Chrysalis put a hand on Luna’s exposed back, the cold touch making Luna shiver. “ I’ve always heard great things about the alicorn sisters, although, your sister sounds like quite the bitch.”
Luna nearly spewed her drink on the table from the unexpected insult. “She’d throw you in the dungeon if she heard you say that.”
The changeling shrugged and looked at Luna her green eyes sparkling. “If that’s my fate, so be it.” Chrysalis stood up and laid some bits on the table. “Oh, and personally, I think you were sexy as tartarus being evil and all.”
Luna felt a chill run up her spine as a flush grew on her face. “Really?”
Chrysalis nodded. “Yup.” Her eyes trailed up and down Luna’s body. “Although, you look pretty amazing right now.”
Luna looked at Chrysalis. She was nice looking, no, she was hot, sexy even. It didn’t help her outfit was showing almost everything the changeling had. Her breast were nice looking, though. So soft and squishy looking—
Chrysalis smirked and bent down in front of Luna, exposing herself. “Like the view?”
Luna flushed hard and looked down. Oh shit, she had been staring. She finished her drink and stood up trying not to make eye contact. “I should go.”
“Where are you going?”
Luna felt her breath catch in her throat. “Uh…”
“I’ll come with you.” She threw her arm over Luna’s shoulders. “Come on, it’ll be fun. Me, a changeling, get to hang out with a hottie like you for a night. What could be better?”
The two walked into the hallway out of sight from the rest of the bar. Chrysalis turned and slammed Luna into the wall, pinning her hands to her sides, her cold body pressed against Luna’s warm one. “Can I trust you?”
Luna felt her heart racing as she stared into Chrysalis’ eyes. She felt her panties grow wet. Damn it. Why does this turn me on? Her voice grew small. “Yes.”
Chrysalis trailed a hand up Luna’s side and squeezed her breast. She then nuzzled Luna’s neck and scraped her fangs along the princess’ soft skin, erecting a moan in response. “So that’s what you like.”
Luna felt herself blush under Chrysalis’ touch. The changeling squeezed her breast harder making her legs almost buckle. She felt a hand start to undo her shorts. “N-not here.”
Chrysalis held Luna in place. “Where then?”
