//-------------------------------------------------------// Rarity's Little Secret -by NixonRdr- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Family Ties //-------------------------------------------------------// Family Ties Chapter One: Family Ties- Rarity stared at her reflection in the mirror that night. Her eyes started to well up with tears and tremble down her pale cheeks. As mascara collapsed under the faint pressure of the warm liquid, the pony sunk her face into her soft hoof. Deep melancholy groans echoed out from that little white crouched ball that night. How could this be? How was thing her reality?? Honestly, she thought, out of all the ponies she knew in this backwater town, that she was the center of this gruesome nightmare? <<<<>>>> Rarity grew up, as we all may know, ashamed of her history. Her father to start off, an earth pony, was a brute of a colt. Well, that's what Rarity thought. Even when momma pony hushed filly Rarity away to go and sleep early at evenings, Rarity yet understood it was only an attempt to convert her away from the darker reality of her father's drinking problem. Rarity learned this early by awakening in the middle of the night to screams of driven anger, hushed tones of a pleading mother, and the occasional “crunch” of a broken glass being thrown at the wall. It goes without saying, Rarity grew more and more wary of the fights the older she became. Once she reached the age of maturation, she moved out, abandoning those patches of memories where she would shove her head underneath pillows and pray for a full quiet night. Equestria was indeed, a land driven by love. But then, sometimes, little creases of sin and discord slithers in the most vulnerable of places-like family life- to destroy and recount its many curses. If left untreated, it shall become darker, and denser. Her mother was a genuine lavender unicorn with no fashion sense whatsoever, a less than colorful vocabulary and an airhead-ish personality. She was, however, a great cook who added generous amounts of yellow butter to Rarity’s dinner foods. Of course, these buttery pleasures plugged in Rarity generous heart, adding a more serving personality. Despite being quite corpulent as a young filly, Rarity was yet blessed by not being tormented for that unfortunate reality. Perhaps it was the compassionate classmates of her year? Who knew. Well, of course she sharpened up as she had gotten older, but a percentage of that had to do with refusing to eat due to her fathers drunken surges. She cannot eat when she is afraid. As for Sweetie Belle, Rarity could not say much about her, since her memory of her in her past life was virtually non-existent. Right after Rarity at made her gracious exit out of the home, Sweetie Belle seemed to mysteriously appear to fill her empty void. //-------------------------------------------------------// Cheat Sheets //-------------------------------------------------------// Cheat Sheets Chapter Two: Cheat sheets- As Rarity opened the curtains of her room, the sunlight pierced in like a laser, striking away all past darkness and dreary history of last nights weeping. The sunlight also glazed over the accumulating dust settling on top of her dresser, offering the pony more heartache to add on to her drowsy hangover of misery. Opalescence lazily meowed huskily out from the covers and clawed at the light. Her “beauty” sleep was not yet ready to come to a close. “Oh, Opal, honestly...try to offer me some sort of a…” there was a ringing of the doorbell. Rarity, in amazement, jumped up in fright. What, now?! How dare she come this early? Doesn't she know I need time to prepare!? The exasperated pony rushed to her makeup drawer in a flash of light...almost. <<<<<<<<>>>>>>> The door was opened to the glittering cheerful face of a Twilight Sparkle. “Morning Rarity! I am so excited to hear your..BIG news that you wanted to tell me.!” Twilight let her self in confidently past her shaking friend. Rarity tried to wheeze out a confronting view-but it was too late. The purple confident unicorn pony was already making her way to the kitchen. Twilight used her levitation spells to press an apple to her lips and sink her teeth in, creating the evermore lull of a “crunch”. A slight glimpse memory of a green tinted empty beer glass thrown on a stained wall rushed through the head of Rarity. She shivered. Twilight sat on the blue sofa and snuggled in the nearby pillow. “Now, tell me the news! You’re gonna tell me, aren't you?” Twilight said through her smile. Rarity scanned nervously down onto her floors, her little heart started to beat profusely. She felt it, her face was becoming dangerously warm. “Rarity…” Twilight sounded concerned now, but Rarity didn't see her, she couldn't. “did you...cry...before I got here?” Twilight looked unto her pink tinted eyes now moistening again. She dropped the apple fruit, it rolled across the floor over to Rarity view of vision. <<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>> One hot summer day as filly Rarity was watching a baseball game among the other fillies, yet of course not participating, drew inside an aged journal. She was peering out of the nearby bushes next to the dusty field, entertaining herself by the cheerful yells of nothings shared by the other team players, and of course, dreamily viewing a handsome older pony she was enamored with at the age. However, such a savage and dirty game was not to be done on her part. She giggled at such a thought and continued back on her sketch drawing in the journal-of a dress. Yes, it was coming along nicely. It was incredible! Such a fashionable choice! All was coming along very nicely...this was after she had gotten her cutie mark on that day of the school play. It was just last week, and Rarity was still living in her glory of her fading lime light of that precious moment. Just as she basked in that memory, she heard a call from her home. She came galloping in. It was her mother calling her in for a buttery dinner of corn muffins, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn and peas. After the long dinner, Rarity found her father asleep soundly on the couch. Her mother was solemnly gazing in a magazine at the kitchen table with one hoof dipping in a cup of pinkish paint. Ah yes...perfect time for mischief. Rarity danced over to her parents’ room-this was the perfect moment to do so. However that following night, as she could finally sneak into the forbidden crevices of her distanced off home, Rarity’s sneaky obsessions soon came to a close as she stumbled upon three pages scrunched up in her father's dresser overflowing with belts. “Huh? What's this?” Rarity said. She held the pages in her hoofs after doing a full body stretch to get it. They looked like some old boring legal documents that a you filly doesn't waste her time on. And that task wouldn't be fulfilled in the first place, if it wasn't for her name enlarged in one of the sheets. RARITY J. DIAMOND was spread across the top. What was this, a birth certificate? If it was, that would great! Her parents never showed her certificate despite how many times she begged, after all. Once, for a class project, it was vital that each little filly had their own birth certificate to prepare class lecture about, but her parents only muffled a few words together and mother signed a flimsy note and they both told little Rarity to give it to the teacher. But as she thinks about it now, it was probably a dismissal. She passed the project anyway, despite her failure to do it. Rarity skimmed the first page of the document, which seemed like a registration form. The second looked like a bill since is was covered in a surplus list of figures and totals. Amounts of unimaginable prices. The last sheet, however, brought the most attention. Rarity’s eyes widened...pupils in dilation entranced with what it read. Ingredients, a long list of ingredients. Corn syrup, sugar, water, gelatin, vanilla extract...the impressionable little filly licked her lips and chirped quietly a “that sounds good! Like a marshmallow!” Continuing down the long list the words become more complicated and alien. Consisting of ultra-definitions in the like of dextrose, modified corn starch...she started to read out loud “tetrasodium...uh...pyrophosphate….artificial flavour and..blue 1?” Of Course she read out the words in a more weaker fashion. But it would soon become more of a nightmare than a reading lesson. A faint gasp came out as she skipped down to the last few ingredients. At reading of this bit, Rarity’s heart plummeted into a Hades abyss. It contained...pony hooves. Pony emulsifier, colt blood and mare pastern. A live mare’s heart, a live filly’s brain, function able colt liver, filly eyes, and a unicorn horn.….at to that, Rarity fell to the ground. Her head become heavy and pressed against the urine stained-carpeted floor and nauseating acids started to whip in her stomach. But she made the connection...a frightening connection. It can’t be. It will not be...Could it be? “Rarity! Rarity Jezebel!” A shrill voice electrified the Rarity back to life. Rarity scrambled up to her hooves and whipped up the sheets to press against her self. Her parents couldn't know that she read this! Not yet. She ran across the hall away from her parents’ dingy room into her comforting escape palace. Landing on her lavish bed mattress she shoved the three sheets into her pillow case and layed on it, pretending to be sound asleep. The door gave a creak tone as her mother peeked in to see the young filly asleep, after a nice long dinner. //-------------------------------------------------------// Out of the Dark //-------------------------------------------------------// Out of the Dark Chapter three: Out of the dark- Twilight grew intensely pale. “Y-you can't be-” “I am serious, Twilight. I am done living this double lie.” Rarity turned around to look into the mirror. Her blue eyes met the reflection’s eyes. They stared back at her, menacingly. Taunting her once again of her false nature. “Why don’t you eat yourself, you stupid cow?” a weak and shivering voice hissed. The harsh words is something Rarity grew to accept. No matter how she assured herself that it wasn't her, it still taunted. Just a dark and depressing realization of her inner psyche. Another reality that she couldn't come to grips. But she knew it was time for a change. Rarity just shut her eyes to the scene. “I know that when I confess to this…” she opened them, giving off a placid look. “I will be able to stop my nightmarish thoughts.” Twilight wiped away three thin streams of tears away from her cheeks and muzzle. She tried to speak maturely above her sniffles. “Rarity I had no idea, really. I am-I don't know what to say.” “Don’t say anything, Twilight.” Rarity turned to Twilight and embraced her in her pony arms. “You are the first pony to know about this. But I am starting a new chapter in my life. Lets...go out.” Rarity smiled against Twilight's mane. <<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rarity, now grown and capable of nourishing her self, was finally pleased to leave this manipulated trap of a household. Wrapped in lies and deceit, no comfort resided in there anymore. They were dead to her. She trotted away toward the more populated area of PonyVille. Bags on both sides of her back and a straw hat fully decorated with a light pink sash to match the Spring season, cat eye sunglasses and mane in ponytail, he made quite the scene. She would start off fresh, new, and a pony! Not a gelatinous fluffy monster that knew such a disgusting fact….but a pony. Yes, she was ready, ready to wipe it away. Ready for no regrets. No more regrets ever. That night in her newly purchased home/fashion studio, Rarity busied herself with all the furnishings she could do. Some of the neighbor ponies brought her housewarming objects and frilly things. And some just brought tales of nothings to cheer Rarity up and warm her up to her new surroundings. One pony brought a bouquet of roses, another bought her a glass vase. A colt made her feel welcome by talking about the weather, but also complimenting her hair curls; which made her blush. A blue earth pony-mare and a younger grinning pink earth pony with the curliest atrocity she saw on her head came over and gave quite the warm welcome and added a yet steaming batch of blueberry-almond strudels and a jar of spiced eggnog, to top it off. All was coming along nicely that day. But as the weeks came by and the strudels ran out...one day Rarity found herself alone at home. No one was at first buying her products, no food was available and hunger overwhelmed her. One certain night, however would start to open a door of squeamish horror. “Oh! What is a pony to do around here to pay the bills!” She shrieked. Sniffing the cold air around her, no foodish scent trail was near. Her cannibalistic inner self was winning over, mixed with indifference, and frustration turning to anger. “Perhaps...I could…” She tried to reason with her self helplessly, gritting her teeth together, then biting her lip. Anything to get the gnawing, cannibalistic streak slicing up in the back of her head. She looked up at her horn. “No.” She sighed “my magic doesn't work that way.” Liquid watered down her further vision. She fell on the sofa, but a gelatinous jiggle faintly ran across her body. She remembered…. her stomach growled. Her past came to haunt her from weeks of breaks. NO, she thought, trying to erase the idea. Suddenly, memories of failed piano recitals, a burning of the stove, the smell of butter, the crack of glass….She looked at her leg...longingly. Was this a perfect way to end this once and for all? For good? The vanillin smell was never smelled by Rarity, but it seemed to distinguish itself now, finally. Perhaps...it is time. Her mortality was prevalent, flesh of a gelatinous pony would soon to be chewed up, swallowed whole, and found in the next few days a dense heap of salivated flesh in the middle of an abandoned and lonesome hall, where it might have belonged. Was this the conclusion she was going to choose, after all? It was her destiny, to be eaten. But who would be the best at it, than herself? //-------------------------------------------------------// Dinner at the Cafe //-------------------------------------------------------// Dinner at the Cafe Chapter Four: Dinner at the Cafe-“A cafe mocha and a lettuce sandwich please. Oh, and skip the mayo if you could. Thank You, dear.” Rarity handed over the menu to the waiter pony. He smiled and nodded as he trotted away. Rarity turned to face Twilight, meeting a face of pity, yet a helpless smile. “Twilight, even though I told you about my past, I trust that you won't give me that somber look all the time, now!” Rarity huffed and reached over to play wine glass. Twilight lovingly gazed at Rarity and grinned. “No. Rarity, I am just so glad that you-are starting fresh.” Twilight looked down at her mug of latte. Seeing a pool of light brown, white milk forming a shape of a diamond. “And...I am so happy that in that night, you didn't...well...decide to end it.” She was holding back a few tears as she said that. “I am just so glad you are my friend, Rarity.” Twilight's eyes glistened with compassion as she looked back up. A warm smile grew on Rarity's face. She looked out into the blue, sunny sky. It was a new day, a new beginning. She was yet a marshmallow. But she was still a pony. She is Rarity.
