I stared at the reflective surface before my eyes. A mirror is stood in front of me in the room, with to identical ones beside it lodged into the steel wall. I stare at my own reflection, deep into my own eyes. Oh yeah, by the way I'm Terry, game and pony obsessed nerd, pleased to meet you! I threw the switch down, causing it to let the power of a controlled nuclear bomb power my machine and it's software. Through the blinding light and immense heat I stare at the person in the mirror, looking for any imperfections or abnormalities. Usually faults would be dreaded and unwanted. However that was what this machine was designed to do. The hunk of steel in question, was the "BUTT". After coming up with the abbreviation, my cocky, although smart, friend Sam came up with the name "Big Useless Traveller/Teleporter". Right now all it was being was a "BUM" (Big Useless Machine). Concentrating once again, I stared at the mirror even harder, my eyes nearly shrivelling from the burning heat and the fact I wasn't blinking. Suddenly, the heat and blinding light stopped. Even after 3 years in development it still failed. I had had enough, I threw my clenched fist at the mirror in front of me, expecting the feel of shattering glass. However I wasn't met with any feeling at all, besides from if you were to stick your hand in a bucket of silly putty. I looked up, shocked at what I saw. My arm was submerged up tot he elbow, the mirror giving of soft ripples around it. I stared at it in bewilderment. "It...it finally worked!!" I proclaimed, jumping into the air with my non-submerged hand fist pumping into the air. After a short celebration however I noticed my reflection out the corner of my eye.
"What.." I began.
"The.." The creature in the glass continued.
"FUCK?!"
We screamed in unison. I stared aghast at my new reflection. Meeting my hand I saw a hoof, submerged in the other side of the mirror, ripples emanating from it on the other side as well. I followed it up, to the furry chest, neck and eventually wide open muzzle of my alternate reality doppelgänger. Our mouths/snouts shut the opened briefly again. "OH MY SWEET GOLESTIA" our voices mixed at the same time to pronounce a completely different name than what we both intended. "EARTHQUESTRIA IS REAL?! AND THERE'S A POMAN VERSION OF ME THERE AS WELL?!" We basically squealed in excitement. "Wait for a second, I'll be right back!" We both said. I quickly dashed out of the BUTT, ran out of my garage, grabbed an apple from a bowl on my kitchen table and ran back. I met my doppelgänger again with a similar apple "Here" we thrown our apples into the wall of goop before us, watching it sink to the other side. "OW SHIT" we yelled as we noticed the other apples heading towards our heads.
After picking ourselves and apples from the floor we took a bite from the universe travelling apples. "Oh my.." We both bent other with our tongues out in disgust. "You eat this switter shit?" Apparently the Equestrian apple was sweet and the Earth one was bitter....I looked up at the pony standing in the huge mirror, examining him as he did me. He was a Pegasus with what seemed like an average build, red coat and a dark green mane and tail. "Nice mair. Wait, what mare?" We both looked around in confusion before catching on to our weird blend of words. "I don't know if I'm going insane, but this is awesome anyway!" I reached for a piece of paper from a clipboard on top of a nearby control panel while he reached for one on a nearby wooden bench. "We'll write our names on here to stop any confusion." I said as I waved the paper. After we had finished the process of throwing the paper through the portal, this time proctecing our skulls, we glance at our papers. Huh...Torchlight. "Nice name. Thanks, you too."
An hour had passed, Torchy and I had told each other about the similarities and differences we didn't know about before about our worlds. We had also told each other about our two best friends. My version of them were Sam and Maddy. Sam was, like I said in the beginning, a smartass all the time. He enjoyed art and astronomy and he had helped a bit with the BUTT. Maddy however, was a nerdy tomboy who absolutely loved gore and violence based video games and movies. She really did have a soft side though and often went outside, fiddling with flowers and trees. Torchlight's versions were mostly the same except had different names, Sam was a unicorn named Stary Streak and Maddy was an earth pony named Merry Day. We laughed at how simple their names were in each other's worlds.
After returning from getting a drink, I gazed at Torchy's Cutie Mark. Wait..that isn't... I had noticed Torchlight was staring at my arm. On it, I had the same mark as on his flank, a simplistic phoenix tattooed on. "Nice mark" we once again said identically. We gave a short chuckle and brohoofed/brofisted each other. That totally doesn't sound wrong.. I thought sarcastically to myself. We each grabbed a watch from the tables beside us. Oh...shit. "It's 11:00 here. Oh it's the same in your world too? Wait, why are we even talking, we have the same thoughts. Anyways, I'm going to bed now. I'll get Maddy Days and Stary Sam...wow when our voices merge it sounds so weird.." I begun to power down the mirror as he did as well. As the reflection around me slowly turned back to my own I waved goodbye to my pony self as he waved to me. This means Equestria exists..and so does magic! I wonder what their culture is like, besides from what the show depicts...well seeing my pony self as being the same Equestria must be resembling Earth in a way..but how would that work? Oh god I hope that when I go over there that it isn't some steampunk version of it. I gave a old shiver as I thought about a Fallout Equestria-esque version of Ponyville. Man, I read too many fan-fics.
