Friends forever... and ever... and ever...
Not even death do we part
"It's okay girls, you tried your hardest." Pinkie whispered before coughing up more blood. Her friends were huddled around her inside the ER of the Ponyville Hospital. The mane six had tears streaming down their faces as the EKG monitor beeped slower and slower.
Applejack was stroking the party pony's hair. "I'm so sorry Pinkie Pie, if I was only just a bit faster I could have stopped that carriage." Pinkie was a terrible sight. There were deep cuts and lashes all over her body, the most serious near her belly. Her eyes were sunken in, but the gleam in them was still there. Blood was pooling around Pinkie's mouth, and Rarity was trying the best she could to wipe it up with towels. Poor Fluttershy was rocking back and forth in a corner, while Twilight was trying to comfort her, saying it was going to be okay; they all knew it wasn't.
Rainbow Dash hugged Pinkie. "You know, it was nice knowing you Pinks. We will see you up there soon. okay?" The pristine pony gave a weak smile. Suddenly Pinkie breaths became shallow and ragged. "Wait Rainbow... there is one more thing... I wan-nt to tel-l you." Dash leaned in. Pinkie quickly grabbed her and gave her the best kiss she could give. Dash's eyes went in shock for a moment before relaxing and hugging the pink pony. "I love you Dashie." Those were her last words before Pinkie Pie's gleam disappeared.
It was silent for what felt like a year. Only the flat line of the KEG could be heard. Everypony rushed into Pinkie Pie, hugging her corpse, hoping that somehow she would wake up breathing. Rainbow Dash threw herself into the ground wailing and pounding. Twilight to stop her before the pegasus could hurt herself. " That... that's not even supposed to happen! HOW can this be possible Twilight! Please answer me!" Dash starting shaking the motionless alicorn. " You can't kill one of the Elements of Harmony! What happens if an old vanquished enemy shows up? We can't fight without the Element of Laughter. Remember how..." Dash starting racking with sobs. "How when we all switched cutie marks? Everypony was upset that there was no Pinkie to make everything better. How about now? ANSWER ME!"
The pegasus pointed outside the window, where ponies were trotting around happily, not knowing of the terrible tragedy that just occurred. "Please Twiliy, can't you use your magic to bring my marefriend back?" Rainbow put her shoulder on Twilight, but she brushed it away.
"I'm... so sorry... but my magic doesn't work that way..."
"Then call Celestia, she's the ruler of the land! Please... i'll d-do anything..."
"... Dashie-"
"DON"T CALL ME THAT! ONLY (sniff) P-pinkie can."
"Please... listen to me." By now, the mane five were huddled together. "Death works in mysterious ways, you can't mess with it."
"Oh, now oh-so-high-and-mighty Princess Celestia can't even show up, not even CARE! " Rainbow was hovering in the air, her eyes bloodshot with anger and misery.
"Please... my little ponies, Twilight is right. Death is beyond even Luna and I's reach." Everypony gasped in surprise as Princess Celestia walked in. There were bags under her eyes, her hair was now falling limply instead of floating, and she was accompanied by no one.
"Princess..." Twilight rushed up to hug.
"Twilight, I heard the news and hurried as fast as I could. Maybe if I was a little faster I could have hea-"
"Your highness, everypony wished that she was healed. They all wanted to be fast enough to save her too." Luna ran into the doorway. "Dearest Sister what has happend! You left without telling me and I must demand that you let me know!" The Princess of the Night's gaze wandered from her crying sister to the peaceful looking body on the bed. "Oh my Faust."

The memorial for Pinkie Pie was held a week later. That week was the toughest for any of the mane 5. Everypony was moping, and all had to be dragged out by Twilight. Everypony was extremely depressed, but Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were the worst. When Twilight came to check up on the yellow pegasus, her house was boarded up and looked dead. The alicorn broke down the door and looked at the crumpled heap sobbing in the middle of the house. All her animal friends were currently taking care and comforting her, but the wasn't any response. After an hour of encouraging Fluttershy reluctantly agreed to go.
When Twilight cautiously flew up to Rainbow's floating house, she expected the blue pegasus to act like Fluttershy. What she saw was worse. Rainbow was sprawled in the kitchen passed out. There was blood all over the floor and it seemed like it was coming from her wrists while a knife was clenched tightly between the between the pristine pony's teeth. Twilight screamed in horror while Rainbow woke up moaning in pain.
"Twilight, please let me die in peace, I need to be with Pinks."
" Dash...you can't."
"Oh boy, another rule that I have to follow."
"Rainbow, you sick, please come with me to the hospital, we can make you better."
"DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND! YOU DON"T KNOW HOW MUCH SHE MEANS TO ME!" Rainbow screamed as she prepared to throw the knife into Twilight's heart.
"NO! PLEASE DON"T DO IT DASHIE!" For a moment, Twilight thought she heard Pinkie's voice crying out. She snapped back to reality as she instinctively shot a sedative spell at Dash. Dash wobbled a bit before crashing hard on the bloodied floor, muttering incoherently.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.

I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
Thanks to the incident of Rainbow Dash, the memorial was postponed a day later. The pegasi managing the weather respectfully scheduled a light drizzle, with tons of clouds. Fluttershy, Twilight, Applejack, and Rarity were there to arrive first, minus Dash. Soon after, ponies from all over Equestria came to the memorial. Everypony turned to each other and smiled; Pinkie had touched their hearts in every place she visited. Rarity could see Gilda blow her nose on a soggy tissue nearby weeping.
After an hour, the priest walked up to a makeshift stand that held only a coffin and a painting covered by a tarp. "Friends, Family, today we are here today to discuss the tragic accident a week ago that resulted in the death of our beloved Pinkamena Diane Pie." He whisked off the tarp to reveal a portrait of Pinkie Pie in her first Gala dress.
"One week ago a runaway carriage ran into Pinkie while she was delivering invitations for a party for Roseluck. Pinkie suffered internal bleeding and heart failure for half an hour before passing away peacefully. She died at 20 and will be remembered forever. This wonderful mare inspired many people with her optimism to do the best they could, and threw parties every day like it was her last. She was the Element of Laughter, saved the world four times, and loved everypony, no matter what they did to her. Please, anypony who wishes to say their last respects may come up now."
Gilda was the first to walk up. "I-I just wanted to pay my dues to that dwee- I mean my friend. The first time I met her, I was cruel, and she loved me nonetheless. I was jealous of how she was best friends with my other friend Rainbow Dash, and so I called her names, popped all of her balloons, and destroyed her candy-copter. She even threw me a party to cheer me up, and I ruined it. I hated her with all my guts for embarrassing me with her pranks. I wanted h-her dead. Now she is... and I never got to say g-goodbye." Gilda yelled into the gloomy clouds above. "Pinkie Pie! Please forgive me for what i've done! I"M SO SORRY!"
The mane four walked up all at once. Applejack shook her head; the clear coffin had Pinkie's body wearing her dress for Twilight's coronation. Even in death, Pinkie still continues to smile. Fluttershy spoke up first. "Well, Pinkie was a wonderful pony. She brought smiles to me everyday. Even though she wasn't too good with taking care of animals, she tried to help me the best she could. Pinkie even adopted her alligator Gummy from me! I miss her so much, and there is nothing I can do about it. Five months ago, Pinkie made me do a Pinkie Promise that I would be strong, no matter what happens. But today... it's really hard too. Fluttershy turned her tear streaked face from the audience and sprinted to her cottage as fast as she could.
"Pinkie Pie was a perfect example of a sugar cube. She always helped a friend in deed, even helping Applebloom obtaining her cutie mark." Applejack grinned at her little sister below, who sported a table with a hammer and smiley face. "Even when she accidentally destroyed the farm a couple times, she would always come back to build."
Everypony told one story after another how Pinkie Pie changed their lives, and how much she meant to them. After one told a story, one more pony took the spot. It was a good four hours until everyone stopped grieving and cleaning up. As Pinkie's coffin was lowered into the ground, everyone threw candy and other sweets into the pit. Applejack remorsefully threw her Pa's hat into the grave. "Goodbye Pinks."

Lovely Bones finished covering the last of Pinkie's grave with dirt. As he took a quick breather in the graveyard, heavy rain splashed him on the snout. When he looked into the sky, it darkened quickly and rained harder. Bones yelled at other workers filling holes. "Quick put the tarps on the graves!" The workers threw tarps over the freshly piled dirt and hammered them in. In stages of grief, a pony might become so upset that they will do anything for the corpse to come back. There have been several cases in the past where somepony will bring back a corpse using electricity. Usually the pony became a zombie, and several towns have to be burned down to prevent widespread contamination.
If the pony did not become a zombie, it would suffer and drive the lover into insanity, and suicide of the corpse and lover. Tarps absorbed the electricity and were a rule, and the violator may be hanged of the crime. The stallions rushed to Pinkie's grave and hammered the tarp feverishly. But alas, the wind from the storm blew the cover back. To the horror of the grave diggers a white hot lightning bolt slammed into the ground, spurring dust everywhere. It was silent for what felt like a month. Just when it couldn't get possibly worse, an audible moan was heard and a pink hoof slowly etched itself from the ground.
