Chapter Two: Souls of the Unknown

As the days went by, both ponies and Wolfras have bonded well with their common interests and they begin to develop an intimate trust between them. However, there is trouble in paradise. A big trouble.

One summer afternoon at the restaurant, Twilight and Applejack talked to Princess Bianca, with deep concern on the future of their friendship, “So let me get this straight. You girls are wolves that eat meat and vegetables?” Twilight asks curiously.

“Oh yes. We also eat fruit, sweets, plants, fish and dairy products,” Princess Bianca replied cheerfully.

Applejack then questioned the wolf, “So, wha’ kind of meat d’ya eat?”

Bianca answered back, “Well, all kinds, although Wolfras promise never harm a friend of ours, so since you’re our friends, we would never eat you.” The ponies then exhaled with relief. Bianca then asked the waiter, “Excuse me, but have you got some deer or sheep for a main course?”

Twilight and Applejack both looked at each other, about to vomit and the mares quickly galloped away as fast as they can.

“Shame, the heat must have got the best of them,” Bianca said to herself, whilst the waiter looked at her anxiously.

Meanwhile, Diamond Rose and Rarity are in Carousel Boutique, who were making new dresses for the summer line for Canterlot, but Sweetie Belle begged Rarity to play with her. “Rarrrityyy, I want you to play this with me!!!” whined Sweetie Belle, whilst holding up a Monopony board game to her sister’s face.

“But can’t you wait a little while longer? I need to finish these dresses for Canterlot tonight!”

“I already waited two hours! And I’m bored!” replied Sweetie Belle.

“Why don’t you play with Opal?” Rarity suggests.

“I think she doesn’t want to,” Sweetie Belle answered, showing to Rarity and Diamond that half her tail was cut off.

“Oh, fine.” Rarity reluctantly said; who walked with her little sister. “Diamond, could you finish the dresses please? It’ll be nightfall soon and I won’t have enough time! ”

“Sure, dear, just relax, I got this.” Diamond answered reassuringly.

The next day, Rarity took Diamond Rose to Canterlot, where they saw Rarity’s dresses on display, which were so good that it drew the attention of Canterlot’s whole population. The unicorn gasped in amazement “Oh, my, it’s spectacular! Thank you thank you!” Rarity squeed in delight and hugged Diamond very tightly, almost like a bear’s hug.

“Uh, can you let me go?” Diamond says, struggling to breathe.

After that, Hoity-Toity then greets the two, “Miss Rarity, your dresses are amazing. Better than those inferior dresses from Ponyville, and since your dresses are such a sensation, it is nowa must-have item in Canterlot’s Mare Claire magazine. Kudos to you, Miss Rarity,” Hoity-Toity says, climbing through the huge crowd of mares.

Rarity squeals. “I can’t wait to show this to my friends!” says Rarity bounces with delight whilst holding her magazine. Suddenly she looks at Diamond Rose, who has saliva dripping from her mouth, eyes growing into slits and starring in a zombie-like gaze. “Diamond, are you alright?” Rarity asks with concern.

“Well, I am a bit hungry.”

“Of course, darling!” Rarity replied positively. “Which restaurant -”

“No, I need something…different...” Diamond interrupted the unicorn. She then looked at Rarity and she began to illusion the world around her turn corrupted, twisted and dark, with Rarity and the rest of the ponies as the only things bright.

“Diamond...” Rarity said fearfully to the red Wolfra and stood in a look of alarm.

Diamond knows that something is going on. “I’m sorry, Rarity.” Diamond retorts and flees the city, leaving Rarity in distress.

Back at Ponyville, Skybolt is about to race with Rainbow Dash on the racing track “Now, THIS is a racetrack, mine’s tiny compared to this!” Skybolt says.

“Hey, Sky, how ‘bout a race, for honor?” Dash suggested, challenging the wolf.

“How about a marathon!?” Skybolt energetically replied, fuelled with burning courage.

The two rocketed upon the track; both at the same velocity when suddenly a mysterious figure laid a sharp rock in front of the track that Skybolt tripped on and fell centimetres before the finish line. Dash stopped in her tracks and ran to support her Wolfra friend, whose paw was bleeding.

“Come on, let’s find you a seat,” the blue Pegasus countered, carrying Skybolt with her hooves. “Who did this?” Dash questioned.

“I did,” said a voice.

Both Skybolt and Dash looked up to see an old friend, Gilda.

“Well, well, look who’s a sight for sore eyes,” Gilda smirked.

“What do you want, Gilda?” Dash interrogated, with an angered tone.

“Who’s Gilda?” said Skybolt.

“She used to be my friend from flight camp,” Dash explained, “But she offended my friends from Ponyville, so we are now…”

“Enemies?” Gilda interrupted.

Dash thought about this and replied no, saying that she didn’t want to hold a grudge against the griffon.

“Well, Dash, I thought I’d dropped by to say hello to my favourite dweeb, who’s now friends with a drooling mutt,” Gilda insulted the two.

“Hey, Skybolt here is better friend than YOU’LL ever be!” Dash replied angrily, defending her friend.

“Oh, yeah, prove it. How about a race against me, mutt?” Gilda responded boastfully.

“Well, thanks to YOU, I’ve hurt my paw.” Skybolt answered, showing her wound.

“Aww, is this wee little puppy too chicken for a little race?” Gilda jerked, further angering the Wolfra.

“Oi! I had just about enough of your lip! I ain’t gonna let a bully like you hurt my friends or ‘offend em either!? You maybe all cool and hip, but you know what? You’re just a bully and a coward, no matter what. Look, I don’t know this for sure but maybe Dash became friends with you because you had no one else to be friends with and maybe you were lonely.”

“Now what I know, is that Dash left you because the way you treated everypony was wrong. And you lost a really cool friend. If you want friends, then you better change your attitude, mate. Because you’ll never be friends with anypony with an attitude like that. So, the choice is yours, be nice towards others, or be alone. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to the Coliseum.” Skybolt says, caring her friend with the power of words.

Gilda was left shocked, having being beaten by her game by the simple act of conversation. While she stared at the two friends with deep emotion, Dash then picked up Skybolt and flew away. Gilda looked up stunned, but forms one small tear in her eye and walked away in melancholy.

Once the duo landed on Cloudsdale, Dash was the first to speak after a short pause. “That was AWESOME!” Dash said triumphantly, “You were so cool with that speech,” She continues, “In fact- hey, are you all right?” Dash suddenly asks, looking at Skybolt, who is beginning to grow out claws and her teeth are growing sharp.

“I-I’m fine. I just need FOOD,” Skybolt said ominously, in a stare.

“Then, let’s get some grub! Besides, that race did work up an appetite!” Dash replied cheerfully and pushed the now twitching Wolfra to the coliseum. At Cloudsdale Coliseum, which was holding the Wonderbolts Derby, Rainbow and Skybolt both took their seats. “Wait here; I’ll go get the food. Be back in a dash!” Rainbow said, speeding off.

While she waited, Skybolt began to feel something she didn’t feel before. Her claws were showing, her stomach was growling and her memory was beginning to fade. If only she knew what it was? She never had this back in Caniselia.

Then, Rainbow then came back with food and drink. “I am Rainbow Dash, the delivery mare of the Food Train!” Dash said, whilst she playfully mimicked a train. She laughed, “Hey, thanks for helping me with Gilda back then, I’ve never seen anypony stood up to Gilda before. Well, except me, of course. Here, on the house.” She asked and handed over a cupcake to her friend.

Skybolt quickly eats the cupcake down her throat to satiate her hunger, but to no success. She then starts to ignore it. “Whoa, ‘ow did I get up ‘ere?” she says, looking at how high she is.

“Duh, Twilight did a spell that gave you Wolfras the power to stand on clouds, remember?” Rainbow Dash reminds her.

“Oh, righ’.” Skybolt sat in deep worry. “Are you okay? You’ve been acting very weird. Do ya need to lie down?” the Pegasus asked.

“No, I need…I need…” Skybolt began to fear the worst now and she didn’t know what to say.

“Well, what?” Dash replies.

Skybolt finally gave up and shouts, “No, I will NOT DO IT!” causing the other Pegasi to look at them both. Skybolt then runs away.
