Dull Sheen
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryI woke up with the sound of my alarm clock buzzing in my ears; I turned to look at it and it read 5:55 A.M. I got up and out of bed but before I headed upstairs, I saw my Domestic shorthair cat Piper sitting next to her food bowl. I gave her black fur a quick pet as I proceeded to put food in her bowl. Then I continued upstairs and headed to take a shower, after I got out I brushed my hair, just staring at my reflection in the mirror as I did, my brown hair was always a tangled mess even when I did brush. After brushing I dried myself off and then I wrapped myself in my towel as I headed out and back downstairs to get dressed for the day. After I went and sat on the couch grabbing my Pokémon game and playing that until I had to leave.
My brother came downstairs grabbed his clothes and went back upstairs, I did not pay too much attention to him as I continued to play, it was only a while later when I heard him slam the porch door when I realized it was time to go. I got up and grabbed my MP3, turning it on as I shouldered my backpack and went upstairs. I opened the door and stepped out.
"Warm." I said to myself, just describing what I felt.
I went from the porch to the garage, I got my earbuds and looped them around my ear before putting them in and I choose Caramell Megamix, speed up version, I put it on repeat and put my MP3 in my pocket. I grabbed my bike and took it through the porch and into the driveway. Then I got on, and shot off to school. The ride to school was normal, it was long I lived at least a mile away, but I rode my bike because I needed the exercise. I finally got to school, and was all sweaty, I hated being sweaty, I got off my bike and put it on the rack not bothering to lock it, I pulled out my MP3 and my earbuds, turned off the MP3 and wrapped up the earbuds around it and placed it in my pocket as I headed in to school.
I have no need to bore you with the details of every hour so I will just tell you the most significant thing. First hour, Biology was boring, a lot of notes that I didn’t take, a lot of talking, I didn’t listen to. Instead I read my book, and the only noticeable thing afterwards was that it was cloudy. Skip to fifth hour, English, the only good thing was that it was Friday and on Friday all we do is read, afterwards I noticed that it was much darker in the sky, my only thought was that it was going to rain. Skip to seventh hour and right in the middle of it a student kindly notices that it’s raining outside, making my day worse. As the hour progressed it got to be a heavier downpour, and I could tell that just by the way it was pounding on the roof. Soon enough the bell rang, signifying our release. I headed to my locker and got my backpack on. I took out my MP3 and got my earbuds looped about my ears, and then I turned it on as I went to the schools exit. I choose a song; I was going to need something to keep my spirits up, I choose Fluttershy's Ballad and hit repeat, then I put the MP3 back in my pocket and walked up to the exit. I went out and damn was it bad out. Not only was the wind blowing against the direction I needed to go, but also it had dropped about fifty degrees. I ran to my bike and got onto the cold wet thing, then pulling it out of the rack I rode off. The wind kept me from going very fast, but my school was on top of a hill so I got some help from gravity going downhill. After what had been like twelve minutes, I could tell because this song was about four minutes long and this was the third cycle of it. I was on the sidewalk next to the highway of Main Street. I was going pretty well for bad weather and I kept peddling I had seen some lighting and it had never crossed my mind that I should be afraid of it.
That was until I felt and incredible heat and was blinded by pure white light. Then I heard a giant thunder clap as I realized I had been hit by lightning. My life didn’t flash before me, but everything did go dark, I was wondering if I was dead, did the dead still have conscious thought? I had been wondering many things, but the most prominent thing was, why could I still think? Then I realized that maybe I had lived, that the lightning went through me without any harm. Therefore, I focused on opening my eyes, which for some reason I found rather difficult. Nevertheless, after I pried them open I was shocked to see trees, a forest, where was I? I tried to stand but I fell easily I wondered what was wrong with my legs, I looked down, hooves, I had hooves. I managed to sit up and look at myself; I was a pony, not just any pony, a Pegasus pony. I had a dark yellow body with small dark yellow wings; my tail was short and was a mixture of pink and orange, as was my long mane the same pinkish orangish color. Then I noticed a convenient puddle, I managed to unsteadily walk towards it, thankful that these wings I had could help me keep balance. I looked into the puddle and noticed deep brown eyes, my eyes looking back. I got up and looked around it was evening, the sky was darkening, and I felt tired, which was fully understandable by any standards. I felt some type of panic rising within me, which felt reasonable but I shoved that feeling away. I headed over to a tree, it was a large one with thick dark green foliage towers over me and big thick roots snaking their way into the soil. But fortunately it had a small empty hollow underneath some of it’s roots it and it was just large enough for me to fit in. So I crawled into the hole and laid down to think about my predicament in a relatively safe spot. But as I closed my eyes and wracked my mind, I soon drifted off into a deep slumber.
