In the meadows about an hour trot away from Ponyville, it was a calm and peaceful day, the critters were having a nice day as the sun reached the top of the sky, indicating that it was noon. Fun times were had and everyone was happy.
Well, happy, until the dark portal of all that is despair opened up, destroying any sense of happiness and joy from the area. One familiar bunny, once he stopped and calmed down a bit, decided it to be a good idea to return to the cottage near the Everfree Forrest, and then skedaddled on over there, hopping as fast as his little bunnies legs would let him.
As the dark portal disappears just as quickly as it had appeared, peace and serenity return to the meadow, and all the little creatures return to their normal carefree attitudes.
But, before they could truly return to their fun, they had a bit of a small dilemma. A small dilemma in the form of a big creature. Now, the animals of Equestria are a resourceful and unified bunch. So, they decided that the only way to decide what to do with the giant creature would be to hold a democratic meeting to decide his fate. Sadly, this democracy was cut short once the creature started to move and make noises similar to a pony waking up with a hangover
“Ugh,” the creature moaned, not feeling well in the slightest. “Well, that was a failure.”
The creature gradually stood up, a bit off balance, expected if it truly had a hangover. The creature was a very tall thing that stood on two legs. It wore red, samurai type armor, and had many types of weapons, ranging from blades to axes. The little of the creature's skin that could be seen was very pale, it's face had red markings.
“I can't believe I keep losing! Any dimension or land I go to, some band of 'heroes' is ALWAYS there to stop ME!” the creature screamed. It's voice had a very masculine feel to it, so it will now be refereed to as 'he' until proven otherwise.
“I just don't get it! I am the mightiest swordsman of all TIME! How could I lose to such lower warriors everywhere I GO?” he said angrily. As he looked around the meadow, a calmness soothed his soul, making his mood serene, and relaxed. “Ah. What a beautiful day! Shining sun, a cool wind, almost makes me miss the sea.” he reminisced.
“Wait a minute, something is amiss.” he states. He starts to question the calmness of the open meadow, almost expecting something other than the animals to pop out at him. “There seem to be no monsters around. In that case,” he says. “this land must not have many warriors if there are not even monsters roaming the fields! In that case, I am the most POWERFUL warrior in the LAND! I will show this world who the MIGHTIEST swordsman in the UNIVERSE is!” he exclaims.
“But, will this land have a suitable weapon for me to claim? Could a land barren of foes truly have something for me to want, something that makes visiting this world have a point?”he questions, wondering if he should just leave. “NO! I have to at least allow denizens of this world to know my name, to bow, and to create any holiday that celebrates me and my glory!” he exclaims.
“I think I talk to myself a bit too much. Well, whatever. I am off! The closest civilization is my destination!” and with that, he was off.
Meanwhile, a small bunny hops off to his caretaker's home. As the rabbit makes his way closer to the cottage, he wonders how he will explain to his caretaker that a strange being has came out of a portal and into their world. Past attempts to tell her usually end up taking far longer than need be. As he entered the cottage, he began looking for her, but to no avail. He finds a note, explaining that she had gone out to town to buy groceries. The bunny makes an exasperated sigh, and hops off to Ponyville, hoping to get their before the being gets there.
Back with our red friend, he begins to realize why past battles have usually been fought indoors, at night, or only in the sun for a short amount of time. The summer heat was taking a toll on his health.
“I... cannot... remove my armor. It would... be both... dishonorable... and... inappropriate. What... would the... neighbors think?” he says, losing his breath. “How much longer... must I endure... this hell?” He says, blacking out.
“Gah! Oh, I'm still out here. Of course, if a 'hero' faints in any sort of fashion, they get carried off by some stranger or evil tribe. I get squat.” he complains. And so, after his five minute nap, his trek continues.
Meanwhile, with our hastily hopping hare, he reaches Ponyville before 'it' could get close. He finds that the Ponyville market is packed and waits for it to calm down a bit.
Our friend finally reaches the town entrance, looking at the sign with a questioning look. “Ponyville? What kind of backwater people name a town after horses?” he questions. “I guess it is quaint, but just that. It is a terrible name, I'll have to think of a better one.” and with that, he goes deep into town. Many of the ponies see him, looking frightened, or, in the case of a mint green one, intrigued.
“They just let the horses walk about town? Simpletons. And why are there so many? I could make my own horse racing derby with this many!” the red man says as he makes his way through town. He encounters something he also finds both frightening and intriguing.
“A-a-a giant tree!” he exclaims, frightened. “Is this truly another world, or is it just an alternate version of my old world? One with more horses and less monsters. It seems to be a house, and I don't think HE would live here.” He looks in the window, checking the inside.
It is more designed like a library, and that thought didn't make him feel any better. “I never visited that library the troops occasionally talked about, but it didn't sound enjoyable. If this is a fusion of that tree and the library, I don't CARE about fame, I need to leave as fast as I can!” he exclaims.
“Well,” he gulps. “here goes nothing. He enters the library, expecting the worst.
“Whoa, nice costume. Whats the occasion?” A voice asks him. The red man looks around.
“Where are you, show yourself!” He yells. “Down here. “the voice states back, in an unnamed voice.
He looks down, and sees a small lizard standing on his feet, looking up at him.
“Well, this is NOT a costume! This is the traditional wear of my village! It is honorable and it is my destiny to wear it!” he yells. “Now, what type of lizard are you? Your rather small and purple, not like many lizards I see.
“I'm a baby dragon. The names Spike.” the dragon extends a claw. “Man, your really taking that costume seriously. So, who are you? You don't seem familiar.”
The red man grabs Spike's claw and shakes it. “A dragon? Bah, I've faced birds scarier than you!” he says, and Spike growls at him. “No matter, I am probably the most important being you have ever met!” Spike rolls his eyes. “I am the Mightiest Swordsman in all the UNIVERSE! You may call me by my name, Gilgamesh!”
