//-------------------------------------------------------// Dreams of a Love I Haven't Met -by Fuedra- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch01. To Canterlot //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch01. To Canterlot Death Petal pawed the floor as her father Futile Task entered the house, looking up to see a grim look on his face as he headed toward the stairs. “Daddy,” she called, getting the thestral’s attention as he turned to walk over to her, nuzzling her behind the ear as she squeaked. “Hey my angel, I need you to go to your room and pack your things ok…were leaving.” “She wasn’t here was she daddy?” Futile shook his head, “no sweaty she wasn’t, but we’ll find her someday I promise.” The filly nodded, then headed to her room, while Futile went to his own, picking things up with his wing claws as he moved about the room. He put several items into his saddle bags, then grabbed up a locket that he had sitting on his bedside table, popping it open and looking at the drawing inside of it. The drawing was of very beautiful mare, whose face was a beautiful mix of pony and dragon, a legendary Kirin. He had never seen her accept for in his dreams, but deep down, he knew somehow she had to be real. He knew it was foolish to think so, for one it was just a dream, so she could not be real, and two Kirin were extinct, the last one having died out hundreds of years ago. But no matter how hard he tried, no matter how many mares he tried to connect with both physically and emotionally, he could never shake the feeling that she was as real as his little girl. He sighed, and then put the locket around his neck, heading out the door and into the living room to find Death Petal waiting for him, her back pack strapped on her back between her wings as she clutched her stuffed animal in her hooves. “I’m ready to go daddy,” she said, walking up beside him and then climbing up onto his back. He nodded, “I know angel…I…I am sorry we couldn’t stay.” She didn’t respond, nuzzling into the back of his neck as she closed her eyes. He hated himself for forcing her to leave with him, but she knew he needed this, and he knew she wouldn’t leave him for the world. He then took one more look at the house, and then left out the door, taking off into the sky and heading onto the train. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Luna looked over her paperwork, keeping her eyes averted from everything else in the room till she heard a knock on the door. “Who is it,” she asked. “Your highness, the Lady Blind One wants to have a word with you, concerning the whereabouts of her son.” Luna sighed, “Send her in.” The door opened, and a pure white bat pony walked into the room, walking over and sitting down in front of Luna, looking concerned. “I beg pardon your grace, but I was wondering if you have heard word from my son, I know he was your student for a time, so I assumed he might have sent you something.” “I have had word from your son, he is returning to Canterlot, apparently whatever search he was on has yet to bear fruit, so he decided to continue it from here. The look that came over Blind’s face worried Luna, “you do not like what he is doing?” “I…I may have told him a story that caused him to go on this search, a story that was passed down by my ancestors from the old time when you were Nightmare Moon. It…it may have given him false hope about something he has been living with for years, something that he has been experiencing since he was but a foal.” The princess stared at her for a long moment, and then set down her quill, giving her a look as she spoke. “If you have the time, I would like it if you could tell me these things you told him.” https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Futile wrapped his forelegs around the mare’s body, quickly pumping into her as she growled her approval. “Keep going Futile…I’m close!” “Me…me to Kira!” cried Futile, keeping his pace before finally climaxing, his lover climaxing as well and digging her claws into his back with a sudden fever, causing him to cry out before his world went black. Futile shot up in bed, sweat coating his form as he stared out of the window of the train. He felt a trickling running down his back, and slowly looked back to see blood soaking the sheets, cursing as he got out of bed and pulled the sheets off, heading finding a bathroom to clean up and then a trash bin to dispose of the bloody sheets. He then walked back to the bed, climbing into it and then grabbing his private journal, turning to a blank page and beginning to write. Search Day: 486 Current Status: unsuccessful Next Search Destination: Canterlot Had another dream today, another intense dream, and like all the others, this one felt as real as all the ones I have had all my life. This one left me with another group of scars, like many of the ones before these ones were earned during our…coupling, which makes me wonder. If she is real, does she dream of me like this, does she to bear scars from where my dream-self bites her…does she enjoy it. I guess I won’t know till I find her…but I am starting to lose hope, I have already searched Canterlot once before, but I have also searched every other city within the province of Equestira, for I know from these…sensations I keep getting that she is here. But I can’t keep going from city to city like I have been, it’s not fair to Petal, she needs a stable home. So that’s it, if I don’t find her in Canterlot or the town beyond, I am going to end my search…no matter how much it will kill me. He finished writing, closing his journal and putting it away, and then laying back down to go back to sleep, knowing that his dream would pick up where it had left off, like it had thousands of times before. //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch02. The Travelers //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch02. The Travelers Kira awoke from her dream, her claw going to her neck as it traced along the new bite marks that had been left there, grimacing as she rose from her makeshift bed. She had been staying in Appleloosa after her search in Las Pegasus had turned out to be a bust, but it was only a temporary stay till she moved on. She had to stop for a moment, feeling a kicking coming from her stomach as she sat down to look at her swollen belly. She rubbed a claw along the miracle growing in her belly, still amazed that it had actually happened. It was a few weeks after one of her many dreams she had shared with her lover, she had started to throw up in the mornings, and after a few more bouts she had gone to see a doctor, who had given her the exciting news that she was carrying foals, triplets to be exact. She had been stunned, she had never been with a stallion in all her life, she was in every way a virgin. But despite this the doctor had found something, magical residue which contained all the seeds necessary for impregnation, though how it had gotten there was beyond him. She knew it had to be him, even though it should be impossible for such a thing to occur, she knew the foals growing inside her had to be her lovers, for he had magic inside him, powerful magic. “Calm yourselves my darlings,” she said, rubbing her claw over her belly again and then getting up to pack. She had learned to trust the information she gleamed in her dreams with him, and in this latest one he had mentioned that he was heading to Ponyville, so that was where she was planning to go as well. As she moved one thing to another into her saddle bags, she heard the door open, and looked up to see Braeburn standing in the door way, a concerned look on his face as he spoke. “You ain’t thinking ah leavin are yah, you’re really getting along there, and moving around like this can’t be good for tha youngins.” She walked over to him, running a claw over his face as she smiled. “Brae you’re sweet, but trust me I will be fine, and these foals of mine need to know who their daddy is, after all it was him that gifted them to me.” “Ah hate how yah talk so kindly about that stallion; honestly Ah want to kick that son-bitch in the teeth for leaving…” “Brae please,” said Kira, placing a claw over his mouth to stop him from speaking. “How I got pregnant is…complicated, so complicated I know you would never understand, just trust me when I say he is not a bad pony, he would be horrified if he knew he had left me like this.” Braeburn looked like he wanted to argue, but he had spent a lot of time with the Kirin mare, and had learned when to trust her when she said something. “Alright Kira, Ah’ll trust yah, but Ah’ll be dammed if Ah let you go wherever you’re going alone you hear me?” Kira laughed, “Ok Brae I understand, you better get some things, were catching the next train to Ponyville.” He nodded, then ran and grabbed a few things from his room before meeting Kira at the doorway, helping her out and then walking with her to the train station, boarding the train to Ponyville and then helping her into a bed, taking a bed next to her own, keeping watch over her as the train began to make its way toward Ponyville. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Futile knocked on the door of Golden Oaks, his little angel sleeping peacefully on his back as the door opened, and Twilight looked out, gasping when she saw who it was. “He…hello Futile…” “Hi,” said Futile, “um…can I come in?” Twilight nodded her head, allowing him to walk inside and then picking up Petal gently in her magic, drifting her over to her hooves as she sat down on her chair. “You seem to be taking good care of her.” Futile nodded, but Twilight became distracted as Petal woke up, looking up to see Twilight smiling down at her, and then nuzzling into her chest before falling back asleep as Twilight looked back at Futile. “So, what’s brought you back to Ponyville Fuedra, it can’t be because you like the scenery.” “Well I only wanted to stop by and say hello, I’m heading back to Canterlot to…to continue my search for her…” “Oh Futile, you’re still not thinking you will actually find this pony do you, she doesn’t exist…” “And I thought I told you not to say that, I know we may have shared something Twilight but I told you on the night we broke up that this was about more then you, I need to find her…I can’t love anypony else but her.” Twilight again looked hurt, but she sighed in defeat, holding Petal close to her as she looked down at her. “I just wish…I just wish you could have broken up with me sooner Futile, that way I would never have gotten attached to her.” “I know; that’s why I am leaving her here with you.” Twilight looked up in surprise, but Futile lifted up a hoof to stop her from speaking. “Look, I know this is a bit of a shock, but out of all the ponies I have…tried to be with, she liked you the best, and honestly I can’t keep dragging her around like this anymore, she needs a place that she can grow up in and live. You are a great mother to her Twilight, which is…which is why I want you to look after her.” Twilight couldn’t speak, looking down at the little filly in her forelegs and then back at Futile as she spoke. “Does…does she know about you leaving her here?” He nodded, “Yes, I told her I was going to have her stay with you till I came back. Hopefully I won’t be gone long, but one way or another I am coming back here, even if I have to give up my search for her.” He then got up, walking over and gently kissing Petal on the forehead before looking back up at Twilight. “Look Twilight, out of all the ponies I have been with, you I know I have felt the closest to, so if things don’t pan out with my search in Canterlot, I…I would like…” “Stop,” whispered Twilight, causing Futile to look confused. “Don’t…don’t make promises you can’t keep ok, we both know how those usually turn out, now go…you got a mare to find.” Futile hesitated, then turned and left out the door, and the last thing to grace his ears before he took off into the sky was the sound of sobbing, but he didn’t turn back…knowing he would never be able to leave if he did. //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch03. Close //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch03. Close Futile walked along the familiar streets of Canterlot, heading toward the palace as he sighed with resignation. To be honest, he would have liked to just crash in his flat and sleep, but he knew that if he had, he would have just been woken up minuets latter by Princess Luna’s royal guards. He had already stopped by to change into his royal garb; after all it wouldn’t do well for a stallion in his position to be seen in such…common attire. He growled at that, sometimes he hated that he was noble born, he never felt like a noble, and had never gotten along with the other “nobles” for as long as he had to associate with them. He reached the steps of the palace, getting greeted by some of Luna’s personal guard, having sent a letter ahead to announce his arrival. “Lord Futile, it is good to see you back in the city. If you will follow us, the princess is awaiting you in her study.” Futile nodded, following them through the palace and to the doors of the Princess’s room, walking inside and then heading into her study, watching the princess get up and then receiving a hug from her. “It has been a long time my dear student, I trust you have been taking good care of yourself.” He nodded, “I have teacher, though as of late I have been rather down, I am afraid my search has still not borne fruit, though hopefully this will be the last time I search.” “So you are still looking for her…even though it is very likely that she does not exist.” “Teacher, you have seen my dreams, you know from what you saw they are not normal.” Luna nodded, for she had seen his dreams, and they were indeed beyond her normal magic, there was something about them that seemed…forced, like somepony had cast a spell that would make him dream these dreams. Plus there was something…frighteningly familiar to her, like she should know it better than she did, but she didn’t know how. “I honestly came by not to talk about that, I just wanted to get this visit out of the way before going home to sleep, then I’ll pick up my search in the morning.” Luna looked surprised as he got up, getting up and placing a hoof on his shoulder to stop him. “Futile it’s been ages since I have seen you…does my presence really trouble you that much?” Futile sighed, “It does not my teacher, I just can’t waste another moment on this search…especially seeing as how this will be the last time I search for her. If I fail to find her this time…I will be moving back to Ponyville to…to stay with Twilight, I owe her that much at least.” Luna watched him go, surprised by his words but letting him go, going back to her desk and pulling out a sheet of paper, writing a letter to his mother. “I just hope she can talk some sense into him…” https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Kira and Braeburn left the train, Kira nursing a new wound on her neck from last night, for she had had a pretty intimate dream during the train ride. Braeburn had of course been concerned, but she had told him it was normal, which he was still grumbling about. “Taint natural, waking up with scars like that, hell I saw then appear on yah, it’s bucking creepy.” “I know that Brea, but for me this is natural, and while I am touched by your concern, there is no need to worry.” He kept grumbling, and she shook her head. “Well while you’re mumbling to yourself, could you possibly point me to the place known as Golden Oaks Library, I am afraid I have never been to Ponyville before.” He nodded, leading her through the town and then pointing to the tree in the center of town, “Golden Oaks is right there, now Ah am afraid Ah am going to have tah leave yah here for now, Ah got to go see mah cousin’s and offer a hoof around the farm, you promise to let me know before you leave yah hear?” Kira nodded, and then made her way to Golden Oaks, knocking on the door when she reached it and then waiting patiently till the door opened, a small dragon standing in the door way, looking up at her in surprise. “Whoa, what are you?” Kira chuckled, used to this kind of reaction before bending down and smiling at him. “Well little one, I am what’s called a Kirin; basically I am half dragon half pony.” “Oh wow, so dragons and ponies can interbreed, that's so awesome.” Kira giggled, and then grimaced as she felt her foals kicking again, gaining a concerned look from the dragon. “Hey, are you ok?” She nodded, “I am fine little one, but I do ask if I can come in, and if you can get the pony who lives in this fine house, I need to speak with them about something.” The dragon nodded, and then helped her inside, taking her over to the couch and letting her stretch out on top of it. “I’ll go get Twilight for you, you just stay here ok.” She nodded, relaxing on the couch as the dragon left, laying her head down till she heard a loud squeal of joy as a small ball of blue fur rocketed out from one of the other doors, grappling onto her and giving her a tight hug as it spoke. “I knew it I knew it I knew it! I saw you outside the window and I just knew it had to be you, daddy will be so happy!” Kira picked up the filly, moving her down onto the floor as the filly looked at her with a broad smile on her face, smiling at her before speaking. “Well I must say you have caught me quite off guard, and I find myself curious, how do you know of me child?” The filly smiled, “my daddy talked about you all the time, he even drew a picture of you which he keeps in his locket, which is how I knew what you looked like.” Kira turned her full attention to the filly, her heart quickening as she spoke. “He…he drew a picture of me, um…does, does he mention where he saw me?” “Yeah, daddy says he dreams about you every night, though some of the dreams he wakes up from leave him with scratches along his back, though now that I see you I can see why, you have cool claws.” Kira was breathing slow breaths, but before she could ask further, she heard a gasp from upstairs, turning to see the mare known as Twilight standing on the top steps, looking at her with a look that screamed disbelief. The filly jumped up and down when she saw Twilight, skipping around Kira as she looked up at Twilight and spoke. “Auntie Twilight look, Kira is here, she is actually here, now you can send a letter to Futile and we can live here together, isn’t that great!?” While Kira’s heart soared at the sound of her lover’s name, she could tell the look on Twilight face was one of pure sorrow, which told her that she needed to speak with her. “Little one,” she asked, “could you leave me and your Auntie alone, I need to talk with her for a moment ok?” The filly nodded, then ran up the stairs past Twilight as she walked down, sitting in front of Kira before getting the courage to speak. “So…so you’re her, the mare who Futile is destined to love. I…I must say I find myself extremely jealous of you, its…its hard having to deal with the fact that you lost to a mare who you thought only existed in your lovers dreams.” That got Kira’s attention, “you…you two were lovers?” Twilight nodded, “I…I was his last, before he started his search for you. He…he had warned me before, warned me that if I were to fall in love with him, that he might break my heart in the end, and honestly I didn’t believe him till…till he left me.” Kira reached out a reassuring claw, rubbing Twilight’s shoulder as she looked at her with tears in her eyes. “You’re very lucky you know, not many ponies can say that they have been loved and have loved since the moment they were born. If…if it is not too personal, I would like to talk to you about these dreams, Futile never really wanted to talk about them much.” Kira smiled, “I would love to…oh,” she said, her claw going to her belly as the triplets began kicking again, causing Twilight to rise up from her seat and walk over to her, looking surprised. “How far along are you,” she asked, placing a hoof gently on Kira’s belly and feeling one of the foals inside kick her hoof. “I have a little while left before they are born, though I wish I could see them now, I want see them so bad.” “And who is the father?” asked Twilight, though she didn’t really expect an answer. “Oddly enough, the father is Futile.” “WHAT! But…but he said he never met you, how can…” Kira placed a claw over Twilight’s lips, silencing her as she spoke. “Twilight, he and I have never met me, accept in our dreams. I…I don’t know how, but I think somehow, whatever magic connects us through our dreams somehow allowed use to bear children, the doctor I went to even found magical residue inside me, though he didn’t know how far it went because I didn’t want him to…well…” Twilight’s eyes widened as Kira spoke, “you got to be bucking kidding me…you…you’re a virgin?” Kira nodded, “never been with a male all my life, though I can’t say I am surprised that Futile didn’t stay as faithful as me, males usually are like that when confronted with such things, my great grandfather was the same way.” That caught Twilight’s interest. “So…so these dreams are hereditary?” “Sort of,” said Kira, “it seems to skip generations though, and in truth its more than simple dreams, it’s actually a curse, one we call The Curse of The True Loves Glimpse.” Twilight raised an eyebrow, so Kira continued. “I know what you’re thinking, how can knowing who you are meant to be with be called a curse, well I will tell you. The way this curse works, you dream about this pony every night you are alive, and they are the most realistic dreams you will ever experience, ones that are capable of leaving you with scars like these ones on my neck, though I assume you saw similar scars on Futile, maybe ones along his back?” Twilight nodded, so Kira spoke up again. “Another part of the curse is that you will never be able to love anypony else as deeply as the pony in your dreams, it has never been clear why, but those that have tried find that they can never feel as complete as with the pony they dream about. And the final…and possibly worst part of the curse is that you and your intended could be separated by many miles, and the case of long lived races you could even be separated by time itself. My great grandfather was one such case where he had to wait through the ages till he found the dragon of his dreams, for he had to wait a thousand years before he finally found her, for she hadn’t been born yet.” Twilight’s jaw was on the floor after this, but after a long moment she finally closed it, gathering her wits before speaking. “That…I can’t even imagine what something like that must feel like, though…I can understand now why Futile was the way he was…I never stood a chance.” Kira shook her head, “don’t think of yourself that way Twilight, any stallion would be lucky to have you, and I am happy that you were able to provide him comfort the way you did. Now I know this is probably the last thing you want to tell me, but would you mind telling me where he is exactly, I’m so close now I can practically feel him.” In all honesty, Twilight didn’t want to tell Kira where Futile was, because she wanted him all to herself. She knew it was because of her jealousy, it was because of this mare that she had lost the greatest stallion in the world, and her selfish side wanted nothing more than to tell the mare before her that he had left for parts unknown, leaving Futile for her to keep. But in the end she knew she could never do that, so with a heavy heart she looked up and spoke. “He is in Canterlot right now, staying at the store he owns while he searches, let me write down the address for you, then you can be on your way. She quickly wrote down the address and then handed it to Kira, squeaking in surprise as she got up and hugged her. “Thank you Twilight, I can never thank you enough for this, and I will forever be in your debt.” She then left, leaving Twilight alone as she sat in her chair, before getting up and walking upstairs to her room, heading over to the balcony outside and watching as Kira made her way to the train station. She stood there for a long moment, and then she went back to bed, curling up and sobbing as the sun fell beyond the horizon. //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch04. Two Entwined Hearts //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch04. Two Entwined Hearts Kira made her way off the train onto Canterlot station, her heart hammering in her chest as she made her way into the streets, following the directions on the scroll Twilight had given her as she made her way. Ponies kept gasping and staring at her as she walked through the city, but she paid them no heed, her mind only on reaching the place where her lover stayed and finally feeling him hold her for the first time. She finally reached the address, knocking on the door and waiting for the door to open, till it finally opened. Futile stood there in shock, his eyes locked with Kira’s for what seemed like eternity before he finally reached out, pulling her into a passionate embrace and kissing her. Kira moaned into the kiss, feeling her tongue slide into her lover’s mouth as they explored each other, making their way into his house before landing on the floor, Kira on her back as she breathed out a breathless sigh as they parted lips. Futile let his eyes drink in every detail of the pony beneath him, from her beautiful face, her deep purple eyes, her black fur and scales, her beautiful big belly… “Well that’s new,” he thought, looking at it closely as he rubbed his face against it, then jerking away in surprise when he felt something inside kick. “You…you’re pregnant?” Kira nodded. “H…how?” was all he asked. “I…I know this will probably come as a shock Futile…but the foals growing inside me are yours.” His jaw dropped, his mind wondering how such a thing could be possible, till a light bulb went off in his head. “The dreams…they….they allowed this to happen, didn’t they?” Kira nodded, “It’s the only thing that makes sense really, I have never been with a male before save for you in my dreams, so it is the only logical explanation I can think of.” Futile nodded at that, and then leaned his head against her belly again, rubbing it gently as he whispered. “Hello little ones, it’s your daddy, I’m sorry I haven’t gotten to speak to you guys yet, I hope you can forgive me.” Kira giggled at that, reaching out a claw and running it through his golden mane as tears welled up in her eyes. “I…I have waited so long for this moment, to be able to touch you…to hold you in my arms, I never thought I would actually be able to touch you like this.” Futile looked up, moving so that he could nuzzle her face, smiling as he spoke. “I know, I…I was starting to lose hope over these last few days, starting to accept that I might never find you…oh thank the goddesses you showed up when you did.” Kira smiled, and then nuzzled up close to him, whispering into his ear as she felt her body go slack do to being tired. “Is there per chance a bed I could rest on my dear, I admit when I got the news that you were close, I may have over exerted myself just a bit getting here.” Futile gave her a scowl, but nodded all the same, helping her up and escorting her to the bedroom. He helped her onto the bed, and then climbed on after her, snuggling up close and then wrapping her up in the covers, giving her a quick kiss before laying his head down, following her blissfully into sleep. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Kira woke up hours later, finding that her lover’s wings had draped themselves over her body during the night, providing extra warmth. As she lay there, she thought back to how she had slept, and realized that she had not dreamed the entire night, and that she also felt more rested then she had ever felt before. “It’s just like grandfather said,” thought Kira with a smile, “now that I am with him, the dreams have no need to plague me.” She sighed in content, nuzzling closer and placing her head upon her lovers broad chest, hearing a chuckle and looking up to see him staring at her. “Hey you,” said Futile sweetly. “Hey you,” said Kira, before wincing a bit as the triplets started kicking a bit, causing Futile to look concerned. “You alright?” “I’ll be fine,” said Kira, “I still have a little while longer before these darlings are born, you need not worry.” Futile smiled at that, and then got out of the bed, causing Kira to look confused till he spoke. “I have to go to the palace today to get some of my affairs in order, and then we’re going to be heading to Ponyville, where I hope you will live with me.” “I would love that,” said Kira, “but why do you need to head to the palace?” “Cause I’m noble born,” said Futile, “and I have to let the court know I am selling my estates in Canterlot and where I am moving to, all nobles are required to do that.” This surprised Kira, for she had not ever considered that Futile might be a noble. Futile walked back over and kissed her, holding it for a bit before moving back and speaking. “You don’t have to worry, I never really fancied myself as a noble, and I plan on dedicating my every moment to you now that you are here, which is why we’ll be moving away from this place.” Kira nodded, then laid down as her mate left, figuring that it would be best to get some rest before they moved once again. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Futile made it to the palace after only a short burst of flight, heading to the door and telling the guards that he wished to see Celestia at once. When he was told he would have to wait with the other petitioners, he sighed in defeat, knowing that his was not the only news that needed the crowns ear. After waiting for several petitioners to present their issues to the princess, he was finally allowed to walk in, the room immediately growing cold as Celestia watched him bow. “Futile Task, I assume you have a good reason for showing your face in this court?” “I do my lady, for I have come to announce that I am relinquishing my holdings to my younger brother Drake Watcher, and to step down as first born of House Dreamer.” That got a rare look of surprise from the long lived monarch, “I assume you have a reason for this?” “I do,” said Futile, “I am moving to Ponyville and intend to spend the rest of my days there with the pony I love, away from Canterlot and its nobles.” This actually seemed to bring a smile to Celestia’s face, who looked to the other ponies around the room as she spoke. “Court is adjourned for the day, if you have matters that must be discussed however, my sister will be willing to hear you come night court.” When everypony nodded and began to leave, Celestia motioned for Futile to follow her, leading him into her lunging area and sitting down before speaking. “So, you’re finally giving up your quest for that ghost mare?” “Yes,” said Futile simply, causing Celestia to smile all the brighter. “I’m glad,” she said, “and I know Twilight will be once you go back to her. It…it pained me to read her letters after you left her, for they were heartbreaking.” “I know that Princess,” said Futile, “but I am not going back to Ponyville to be with Twilight.” That got the Princesses head to turn, “but…but you said…” “…That I was going to live there with the pony I love,” said Futile. This confused Celestia for a moment, till the gears in her head started to turn, till finally they stopped as she came upon the answer. “No…no that’s not possible, she does not exist.” “She does,” said Futile, “and she showed up my doorstep last night.” Celestia wanted to snort in disbelief, to shout at the pony before her that he had clearly lost his mind, but something about him was…different. Gone was the look of hopelessness that had long plagued the young thestral’s face, gone were the slumped shoulders and the dark circles that always plagued his young eyes. Instead, the pony now standing before her looked so happy he looked fit to burst, and even when he was with Twilight he had never looked that happy. Plus, the most glaring sign that he was most likely telling the truth was that the strange…magic that had always surrounded him was gone, completely and utterly gone. Knowing this, Celestia decided to pick her next words carefully. “Futile, if what you say is true, and then I am indeed happy for you. But as to your plans to move with this mare to Ponyville, I do not believe that would be a good idea.” “And why is that?” asked Futile. “Because as you know my student still harbors deep feelings for you, and if you move there with this new mare for her to see, it will hurt her very badly, and I think I can say for both of us that she has suffered enough because of you.” Futile stayed quite for a moment, and then spoke up, choosing his next words carefully. “While I do agree with you Princess, I find a flaw in your reasoning.” “And what flaw would that be?” asked Celestia. “If you never wanted her to suffer pain like that, why did you let her leave for Ponyville to learn the magic of friendship?” Those words floored any argument that Celestia had prepared to counter Futile with, for the simple fact was she hadn’t even considered that at all. While yes, she knew there would be hardships on along Twilight’s road to learning friendship, she had always held out what she now realized was vain hope that her student would be protected from the pains that came with making friends, as well as making relationships beyond that. What’s more, if she insisted on keeping Futile away she would be robbing Twilight of another life lesson, one of allowing old wounds to heal and letting the past be past. After all, she knew Twilight still held out hope that Futile would come back to her one day, which was preventing her from possibly finding somepony else to love…and this would be a sure fire way of making Twilight realize she needed to move on. So with a heavy sigh, she spoke, “Very well, but on one condition, I must meet this mare of yours.” “No.” Celestia stood still for a moment as the shock of what she had just heard passed through her brain, “what did you say?” “I said no,” said Futile, “you cannot meet her.” Again, Celestia was a bit shocked at what he said, “And why not?” “Because I don’t trust you.” Celestia could not believe her ears, “Wh…why do you not trust me, I’m your ruler.” Futile smirked at that, “I know that, and that’s why I don’t trust you. No matter how you may act Princess, your our ruler first, and a pony second, and because of that I can never fully trust you, especially where my mate is concerned.” Celestia realized she was treading on thin ice, for she could tell Futile was beginning to get on edge. Thestrals were naturally territorial, and that instinct increased tenfold when they had mates, for female thestrals were a rare thing amongst their kind. So with one finally sigh she relented, “very well, you may leave.” Futile didn’t even say goodbye, leaving the room and closing the door behind him as Celestia sighed, before she picked up a piece of parchment and began to write, “Dear Twilight Sparkle…” //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch05. The Letter's //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch05. The Letter's Futile made it back to his house in due time, walking inside and finding Kira sitting on his couch, the mare looking up at him and smiling as she slowly got up. “I already took care of packing your things,” she said, “you didn’t seem to keep many personal possessions.” “Of course not,” said Futile as he grabbed his things, “I was always on the move looking for you, couldn’t really afford to keep many things when one living like that. Now come on, there is a train leaving for Ponyville soon, and if we hurry we just might make it.” She nodded, and then hurried along with him out the door and to the train station, making it on quickly and getting their own car for the trip. As the settled down into bed, Futile decided he would get a little frisky with his mate, moving up close before nibbling a bit on her shoulder. He expected many responses, but one he didn’t expect was her prehensile tail slithering under his body and beginning to play with a certain part of his anatomy. He gave her a look, receiving a giggle as she spoke to him. “Being a Kirin has its perks, but so does being a Thestral I here. Now, while I use my tail to relieve your stress, why don’t you use those talented wing claws of yours to relieve some of mine?” “As you wish, my angel of the darkness.” https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 “Twilight, letter from the princess!” “Just place it on the table Spike.” Twilight waited till she was sure Spike was gone, knowing that the young drake was extremely worried about her. When she was sure he was gone, she got out of bed, heading over to the table and grabbing the letter in her magic, before sitting down and beginning to read. Dear Twilight Sparkle. I know you weren’t expecting a letter from me so soon, but I felt the need to give you this news. Futile visited me in my palace today, to tell me that he is giving up his titles and moving back to Ponyville with his love, the one from his dreams. I know this must be heart breaking for you, but I felt you should know, mostly so that hopefully it can help you get over him. However, that is not the only reason I have sent this, the other reason is because I wish for you got gather some information for me. You see, before he left, I asked Futile if I could meet with his mate, to which he said no, saying he does not trust me. This, coupled with the fact that Luna has been unable to enter his dreams at all, means we know nothing about this mare, and I would like to rectify that. So if you can, please give us any information you can on her when she arrives, for I have a feeling this mare may be special. Sincerely, Princess Celestia. Twilight sat there in silence, her mind reeling from this. The fact that Luna didn’t know of the mare was a bit surprising, but that Celestia didn’t know anything about a Kirin walking about the kingdom, it was unsettling at best. But a smile crept upon Twilight’s face, for now she had information which her teacher didn’t know about, which excited her to no end. So with a giggle she grabbed a quill and parchment, and began to write her letter to the princess. Dear Princess Celestia You’re lucky that this letter came to me today, for I have some great news. I have already met Futile’s mate, for she came to town looking for him and I led her to him, so I know what she looks like. Surprisingly she is of the species of ponies long thought extinct, the Kirin, though she didn’t tell me where she was from. She only stayed for a short while, but in that short while I was able to find out a lot about the curse which afflicted both her and Futile, which I shall share with you now. Apparently it’s a dream based curse called the Curse of the True Loves Glimpse, a curse that forces you to dream of your perfect mate till you find them. It bears many properties, for instance it is hereditary, often skipping a generation according to her, and it begins the moment they are born. It also makes it so that you can love no one else but the one in their dream, with no indication as to if this ends when they find that pony. And the last part of the curse, which according to Kira, that’s Futile’s mate by the way, is the worst part of it, for the two lovers could be split apart by great spans of not only distance, but also time. One last thing, I don’t know if this is related to the curse or not, but I feel I should mention it. When Kira was here, I found out she was pregnant, and it appears that…amazingly, Futile is the father. The only thing she can guess is somehow, the magic of the curse supplied the necessary materials for them to conceive so far apart. That’s pretty much all I know, but seeing as how they are coming to town soon, maybe I can find out more. I shall write to you as soon as I can gather more information, but till then, maybe we can start writing back and forth more, like we used to. With love, Twilight Sparkle. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 Luna woke up to the sound of knocking on her door, lifting her head and giving it a quick shake to clear the blurriness from her vision, before commanding whoever it was to enter. When her sister walked into the room, a smile grew on her face; the young alicorn got out of bed and went to hug her sister. “Tia, what brings you to my room this late in the day?” “Twilight just answered my letter back about Futile’s mate, and while the identification of her species shocked me a bit, it was the other information she gave which…which made me pause and come to you.” “Well what is it sister, if there is anything you need you know I am willing to help.” Celestia nodded then, handing Luna the letter and watching her as she read it, noting the look on her sisters face go from pleasant, to shocked, and by the end she was having to repress tears as she choked out a few words. “I…I had thought…” “So you do know of it,” said Celestia, receiving a nod from her sister as the younger alicorn sat down. However, when she didn’t speak further, Celestia sat beside her and wrapped a wing around her, giving her a comforting hug before speaking. “Luna, can you tell me about it?” Luna nodded, “It…it was a spell we crafted many moons ago, for a mare who wished upon our stars, like ponies sometimes do now. She had wished that her children would never have to struggle to find love, that they could just…just be granted the knowing of the one they were supposed to be with, so they didn’t have to suffer through the trials of finding the one dearest to their heart like she once did. So, I crafted The True Loves Glimpse, but…but I never intended for it to end up like this.” “Then there must be more to it,” said Celestia, “for you and I both know that spells don’t last this long unless they have an everlasting component to them, and…” Celestia stopped then, her eyes widening a bit as she looked at her sister in horror, “Sister…you didn’t…?” “Didn’t what?” asked Luna, even though she knew where this was leading. “Luna…” started Celestia, “did…did you weave a part of your alicorn magic into this spell?” Luna hesitated, then nodded her head, “I wanted to make sure it would last, I didn’t think it would bleed into the next generation…or jump species.” “Well it did,” said Celestia, “but that’s beside the point, why would you make a spell with these specific stipulations.” “But it wasn’t supposed to do that,” said Luna exasperatedly, “I only meant for the original spell to affect the wishers daughter, so that she could find her soul mate by being drawn to him through dreams. It was never meant to bind their heart souly to that of the one in their dreams, nor was it to affect the one they were dreaming about.” “And what about this Kirin’s pregnancy?” “…Well, we did put a part in the spell which would make the daughter more fertile, but how it could have caused this, I just don’t know.” “That’s the point Luna,” said Celestia, “mother always warned us about how our alicorn magic has unpredictable if not outright dangerous effects anything but grand spells, which explains everything that is going on here. The only thing we can hope for now is that there is a way to break it.” Celestia looked down at Luna, who looked like she wanted to hide something, but finally the lunar mare spoke up. “There…there is no way to break the spell.” “What?” Luna gave a sheepish grin, “Well, we knew that eventually we would soon be joined by a love alicorn, thanks to you letting us see mother’s writings. So…so we decided to insure that, if we ever used this spell in the future, that alicorn wouldn’t be able to break it if she mistook it for something malicious.” “Luna,” groaned Celestia, “I didn’t show you those writings so you could plan ahead; I showed you those so you would know we wouldn’t be alone anymore, for you were starting to get really depressed about our immortality.” Celestia shook her head, looking out the window in her sister’s room and sighing as her gaze fell on the town. “I’ll just have to see him tomorrow and tell him his children will simply have to forgo finding mates, for I don’t want this spell spreading around.” “But Tia,” said Luna, “that won’t work, there are probably hundreds affected by this spell by now, do you plan on finding them all and telling them they can’t have children?” “If I must Luna,” said Celestia, “If I…” Suddenly she stopped, her eyes glowing blue for a moment before she collapsed on the ground, Luna screaming in shock. “SISTER!” Author's Note Sorry guys, not kinky Thestral on Kirin sex this chapter, but it will be coming soon. I wont spoil it for any of you, but I will give you guys a chance to guess what is going on with her. Till then, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to drop them on by, I love hearing from you guys. //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch06: The Unthinkable //-------------------------------------------------------// Ch06: The Unthinkable Celestia cooed a bit as she felt the pleasing sensations rolling down her spine, purring a bit as she shifted to get more comfortable. “Mmm, thank you love, I needed this after dealing with the nobles for so long.” That earned her a giggled, and then she saw her mate lie down next to her, the pretty kirin mare smiling brightly as she traced a claw along her shoulder. “It’s no trouble Tia, after all you have done far more for me from time to time, I am merely returning the favor.” Celestia chuckled at that, “Come now Terra, you and I both know you have done far more for me; after all, you are the one who was able to get me to truly love again.” “Oh you already could love my dear,” said Terra with a smirk, “I simply…reminded you what it was like again, now come on, give me a kiss.” Celestia did, leaning forward and giving her mate a kiss, and then the world went black as a faint voice sounded within her ears. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 “Sister…sister are you alright?” Celestia groaned a bit as she lifted herself into a sitting position, the dream still fresh in her mind, but she tried to ignore it for now. “What happened?” “You…I think you have fallen under the spells influence sister, for I felt its magic on you.” Celestia shook her head, “no, no that can’t be, it mustn’t…” “But sister,” said Luna, “you were dreaming just now, and it was a dream I could not enter, and it bore the same magic as the dreams which often plagued Futile’s mind.” Celestia stared at the floor for a long moment, then, with a sigh, she shook her head. “I’m sorry Luna, but it must have been something different, for I dreamed of nothing like your student described.” “But sister…?” “Enough Luna,” said Celestia, “it must be something else. Now, I am going to Ponyville to see how Twilight is doing as well as speak to Futile’s mate. While I am gone, you are in charge, so don’t do anything I wouldn’t do while I’m gone.” “But sister don’t you think you should wait a bit, at least till we can find out what happened?” “That won’t be necessary,” said Celestia, before leaving the room in a hurry and leaving her sister alone, worrying after her older sister. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 On the other side of the door, Celestia was leaning against it, breathing in and out to try and calm her raging mind. “Calm down Celestia, you just…you just need to get moving, the dream meant nothing to you, and it can stay that way” With that thought, she collected herself, and then gathered up the necessary energy to teleport, finding herself outside of Twilight’s tree home, instead of in the main lobby. “That dream must have shaken me up more than I thought, but I can live with it, now I need to go speak to my student.” With this decision made, she moved up to the balcony with a flap of her wings, landing upon it before knocking on the door and waiting till Twilight opened the door and pulled her into a hug. “Celestia, I’m so glad you came, I’ve learned so much since my last letter to you.” Celestia smiled at that, but then she shook her head as she spoke. “Sadly Twilight, I am not here about that right now, I actually came here to ask you how you are doing, seeing as how Futile is living here with his true love.” Twilight’s face immediately fell, and she turned away and walked back into her room. “I…I’ve been doing ok, but…” Celestia placed a wing on her back, “It’s ok Twilight, you can tell me.” Twilight began to cry, “It just hurts so much, I mean I was ok a while, because I was taking care of Death Petal, but after he came back he took her away, and I…I almost stopped him.” “You cared for her, didn’t you?” Twilight nodded, “Like she was my own, she…she even called me mom once long ago, but I guess I can’t keep her can I?” Celestia gave her a reassuring smile, “It will be ok Twilight, but at least you were able to stay friends with him, not many ponies can say that.” Twilight nodded, and then spoke up as she wiped tears from her eyes. “Well, was their anything else you needed princess, I doubt you’d just come down here to check on me?” “I normally would say otherwise Twilight, but actually I also came here to meet with Futile’s mate, for it has been a long time since I have seen a Kirin who lived outside of Chineigh.” Twilight’s eyes widened in wonder, “So wait, Kirin still exist?” “Of course Twilight,” said Celestia, “but most of them don’t live outside of Chineigh, due to the dragon ruler Tiamat wanting to protect them.” “I remember her,” said Twilight, “She always used to bring me the coolest things from there; a lot of it which helped me raise Spike. Do you know when she is planning on coming to visit again?” “Unfortunately no Twilight,” said Celestia, “for she is still looking for her daughter, and the search is consuming all of her time, she hasn’t even been able to accept my visits, even though I travel there as often as I can to see her.” “Well just be careful when you head over to Futile’s, he seems to be getting extremely protective since he got her to their new him, most likely due to instincts.” “I’ll be careful Twilight,” said Celestia with a quick nuzzle, and then she left, her student sighing a bit before deciding to get back to her research. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b9551aa355b5c64ac60becf148b50b1b4b948e47?url=http%3A%2F%2Fssrta.weebly.com%2Fuploads%2F1%2F2%2F8%2F7%2F12877642%2F3723147.jpg%3F197 After quick trip to the mayor’s office, Celestia found herself in front of Futile’s new home, her hesitance keeping her from knocking on the door. Much to her relief, it was not Futile who opened the door, but when she saw who it was, she gasped in shock. “Kira?” Immediately the mare tried to close the door on her, but she was able to stop it with a hoof, managing to push her way inside as she looked at the kirin mare with concern. “Kira where have you been, your mother has been worried sick looking for you!?” “Don’t you think I know that,” said Kira as she moved toward her couch, getting atop it as the Princes sat in front of her. “But I had to get away; I was being forced into a marriage I didn’t want.” “Well did you tell your mother about…about your dreams?” Kira shook her head, “No, because it wouldn’t have mattered, I was the queen’s daughter; therefor I was expected to marry a dragon or kirin from one of the royal houses.” Celestia hesitated a moment, then she spoke up. “You know I will have to let your mother know where you are, don’t you?” Kira nodded, but then her eyes narrowed for a moment, her horns glowing a bit before she gasped, her eyes showing concern. “Celestia, you…you have the…” Celestia cut her off, “I know, that…that’s actually why I originally came here to talk with you…for I…I think my dreams are leading me to one of your…your foals.” Kira’s eyes widened at this, but Celestia kept on going. “T…tell me, is one of your foals a mare?” Kira nodded, “I see…and have you decided on a name?” Kira nodded again, “Terra.” Celestia sighed, “I see, then it is as I feared, for it seems my dreams have…have latched on to your daughter.” “I see,” said Kira, “well, that makes me happy then, at least she won’t…” “I want you to make sure she stays away from me.” Kira looked surprised, “What?” Celestia sighed, “Kira look, I know you think these dreams are a good thing, but the curse was originally made by my sister, who weaved a form of magic into it which caused it to grow out of control. I intend to make sure it stops, but to do that, your daughter must never approach me ever, for I fear that if she does, we may end up in a situation which may lead to us having children.” “But what about others who have the curse?” “I intend to use my sister to help me find them all, and when I do, I shall make sure this curse dies out once and for all.” Much to Celestia’s surprise, Kira giggled, “What’s so funny?” “Well Princess,” said Kira, “I am afraid that if you go about it that way, you will never be able to stop the curse, you will only slow its growth.” Noticing the confused look on Celestia’s face, Kira continued. “You see, of the three foals growing inside me, not all of them will inherit the curse at its fullest. Sure, thanks to you now I know that my daughter will bear its full weight, but as for the other two, there remain two more possibilities. One, they could not inherit the dreams, but they can still carry the curse within them, which can still be passed on to their children. Or, they could not have it at all, which means any descended from them will never suffer from the dreams unless they mate with another who has the curse within them.” “How do you know this?” Kira smiled, “because I have a twin sister called Ishmeya, and she does not have the dreams, nor does she bear the curse.” Celestia looked devastated, but Kira did not, “Do not be troubled, this will be a good thing for you, for from what my mother said you have lived a very lonely life.” “I lead a lonely life because I must,” said Celestia sternly, getting up from the floor and heading to the door, “And no dreams will change that.” She then vanished in a burst of light, causing Kira to sigh, though she had a smile on her face, looking down at her belly before speaking. “Fear not dear Terra, we’ll show her the truth eventually, after all, neither of you have a choice…when it comes to love.” Author's Note Yes, I know the implications in this chapter in regards to the curse are dark, but don't worry, things will work themselves out in the end.
