The New Pony
The New Home
Load Full StoryAfter 5 long hours the train had finally stopped moving. The doors whirled open to let all the ponies off.
"Last stop: Ponyville." the conductor announced.
Colbalt, a light blue alicorn, stepped out of the train. He took a deep breath, and gazed upon his future home, Princess Celestia had announced that Ponyville was short on citizens and that anyone who was looking for a new place to live in would be recommended to go, after quitting a boring job, Colbalt has decided that he would go to Ponyville to find a new job. Taking one last breath, he started on the path toward his new home. As Colbalt was walking he heard a sound that didn't make him to happy: *GROWL*. He was starving.
"I better get some food to eat, I'm starving..." Colbalt thought to himself.
As soon as he went into town he headed for the town plaza.
"What should I eat? A hay sandwich? A carrot salad? Something sweet maybe?" He thought to himself.
Thats when he smelled a scent that lured him, he followed the sweet scent. It led him to a small wooden stand. He observed the stand the stand has a sign on the counter with a sign that read "Fresh muffins = 2 bits" right next to the sign was a dozen muffins still fresh with a delicous scent emulating from it, the stand itself was a bunch of planks hammered together with some nails poking out in some areas. Then he saw a medium-sized tan colored stallion yelling at a light gray mare with a pale yellow mane,
"IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL A MUFFIN?!" the angry stallion yelled
"Im...Im...sorry...that you don't like it" the poor mare replied laying on the ground stuttering and shaking.
"I PAID 2 BITS FOR THIS? THIS DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ANY FLAVOR!" the tan pony said.
"Please..leave me alone, I'll give you a refund, just please leave me alone sir." the mare said as a few small tears fell from her eyes.
The tan stallion started walking toward the light gray mare, cornering her as she backed up against a wall. The stallion threw the muffin infront of the mare.
"Maybe I know why your muffins taste bad. Maybe cause you can't see with those eyes of yours." The stallion said.
After that comment the mare started crying a lot, she was bursting out tears on the floor. Colbalt has noticed that the mare's eyes were pointing in different directions, but Colbalt could no longer let the harassment continue so he stepped forward.
"STOP! Bullying her." Colbalt said in a stern voice
The tan stallion turned to face the pony would dare say that to him.
"OH YEAH?! What are you going to do about it? the earth pony retorted
Colbalt at this point knew that he would have to intimidate the stallion a little bit to scare him off or make him leave. He gathered a bit of his magic and focused it in his horn. His horn started glowing sky blue.
The tan stallion suddenly felt a stab of fear, his eyes opened with surprise, he realized that he couldn't fight the alicorn or run away due to the fact he had wings. The tan stallion then backed off and retreated back to his house.
As the tan pony ran away Colbalt had yelled,"If I see you bully another defenseless pony I will make you pay for it."
Colbalt then turned attention to the gray mare laying on the ground. She was still sobbing. She looked up at the blue alicorn who had stood up for her. The gray pony still had streams flowing out of her eyes.
She then managed to say,"Thank you, Mister."
Colbalt then helped her stand up. The gray mare wiped off the remaining tears.
"May I buy a muffin?" Colbalt said.
That seemed to lift the mare's spirit. She went back over to her small stand and brought the blue pony a large blueberry muffin. As Colbalt reached in to his luggage and pulled out 2 bits. The gray mare then said,"You don't have to pay for it, its just my way of thanking you, for sticking up for me."
"Thank you, um..." the alicorn began
"The name is Ditzy Doo, my friends call me Derpy though." the mare replied with a quick response.
Colbalt had noticed that the mare had recovered pretty fast from the recent incident.
"Well Ditzy.."
"You can call me Derpy." the mare replied
"Well Derpy... I have two things to say to you. One, these muffins are really good, I do not understand how that other stallion didn't like them they are delicious!"
"Thank you, Mr. Um....."
"Colbalt"
"Thank you, Mr.Colbalt but he wasn't yelling at me because he didn't like the muffins, he always bullied me since pony elementary. A lot of ponies make fun of me due to the fact my eyes are alligned straight and...."
"That brings me to my second comment... I think your eyes are kind of cool and very unique, more like one of a kind."
Derpy was stunned, still trying to gather what Colbalt had just said. She then let out a small little blush. They started talking to each other for a couple of hours then Colbalt remembered something. He didn't have a place to stay.
He asked Derpy,"Hey Derpy, do you know a hotel or something I can stay at tonight? I haven't rented a house yet."
"You can sleep in my muffin shop for tonight, I have a small bed that I keep there for when I have to work late on baking stuff."
"Thank you, Derpy..I hope I can pay you back soon."
"You don't have to, for what you did today was enough." she smiled.
Derpy walked Colbalt over to her muffin shop where she opened the door to let him in, she showed Colbalt where the bed was and everything.
"The bed is kind of small, I hope you don't mind."
"No, not at all its perfect."
The bed was covered in a white sheet and had a large silk blanket with a picture of a large muffin on it. As Colbalt put down his luggage to the side of the bed, he stretched and layed on the bed.
"Well, goodnight Colbalt, see you tomorrow." Derpy said
"Goodnight Derpy, thank you again." Colbalt replied
As Derpy was about to exit she said something.
"Maybe we can go eat some muffins sometime? After you get settled in maybe? I can show you all my friends!"
"That would be awesome, Derpy."
Derpy then left the shop with a smile knowing she had made a new friend.
Colbalt closed the light and went to bed.
