A Mishap or Something More?
“How could I ever explain what the buck just happened?” thought Bonbon as she trotted through the streets of Ponyville. Images ran through her mind as the memory of her ogling a certain somepony's green flank, and subsequently getting caught in the act by said somepony still fresh in her mind.
45 minutes ago....
"So I was all, yeah buck you to ya old bastard! And then I, hey Bonny are you even listening? Um Bon?” Bonbon gasped as she tore her gaze away from her friends flank, cheeks flushing crimson she stuttered.
"E-Eh yes Lyra?" Lyra just raised an eyebrow at her friend, whose face was flushed red.
“You okay there? What, I don't have anything on my flank do I?” Lyra said with a faint blush, the idea of Bonbon staring at her flank unnerving. Bonbon just shook her head vigorously at the question.
“Oh no no no, nothing there at all, I was just um, admiring your cutie mark!” sputtered a nervous Bonbon as she shuffled in place. Again, Lyra could only keep an eyebrow raised at Bonbon's excuse.
“My cutie mark? But you already know everything about the darn thing? What’s the matter Bon, spit it out.” Lyra inquired impatiently. Bonbon looked away from those enrapturing pools of amber, suddenly finding a small pebble on the ground intriguing.
“Nothing, just your cute flank waggling in my face” muttered Bonbon. Lyra's confusion only grew at her friend’s odd behavior, only catching the word “flank” from Bonbon's hushed muttering. Suddenly a devious idea crept into her mind, a smug smile stretching across her lips, “You know Bonbon, if you wanted to stare you could have just asked me, I don't mind” said Lyra in a sing song voice.
“I, you, I-I I have no idea what you are talking about, why would I stare at your flank? Your cutie mark had a thing on it is all!” squeaked Bonbon, the red glow from her cheeks spreading all across her face. Lyra only giggled, whipping her tail across Bonbon's nose, causing the cream colored mare's flushed face to grow even redder, now looking akin to a tomato.
“If only I had known earlier that you liked me like that, it would have saved me the trouble” Lyra whispered in a low sultry tone. Squeezing her eyes shut, Bonbon tried as best as she could to be invisible, and it was proving to be hard with her glowing red like a beacon.
“Why Bonbon, there is no need to be nervous, just let your pal Lyra take care of everything” Lyra whispered, inching her face closer to Bonbon's. In that instant Bonbon opened her eyes to the sight of Lyra inching dangerously close to her, just inches away from her lush lips.
“Play your cards right and you can do more than just look, Bonny” Lyra’s breath felt hot against Bonbon's muzzle. The closeness alongside the body heat of Lyra driving her crazy. Lyra licked her lips, “All you have to do is seal the deal and....” Lyra trailed off, moving closer and closer, her lips hovering just mere millimeters from Bonbon's. And just when Lyra was about to connect her lips to Bonbon's she stopped, stifling a giggle.
“Pffthahahha! Oh sweet Celestia you should see the look on your face, for a second there I thought you were really going to ki-mhp?!” Lyra's talking was cut short with Bonbon silencing her lips with her own. Bonbon moaned into the kiss, enjoying the feeling of the mint green mare's lips against her own, Lyra on the other hand only squeaked in surprise. After a few seconds passed Bonbon's mind came back out of the heated moment. Suddenly realizing what she was doing she pulled, albeit reluctantly, away from Lyra's lips. Bonbon gazed worriedly at Lyra, whom had the look of somepony slapping her in the face, eyes dilated to pinpricks and her mouth hanging open.
At the sight of her friend looking absolutely horrified, Bonbon's ears fell flat against her head, a heavy feeling in her gut. Looking around she saw a crowd of other ponies surrounding her and Lyra. No doubt brought to their attention from the kiss. If Bonbon's face resembled a tomato, it probably looked like Celestia's own sun, judging by how the color of embarrassment on her face was now literally glowing.
“I um, IHAVETOGODOSOMETHINGBYELYRASEEYOUATHOME!” shrieked Bonbon as she turned tail and ran as fast as she could away from Lyra and the crowd, leaving a trail of dust and cat calls all the way.
Present Time....
“You idiot Bonbon, she was joking and you kissed her! How are you going to explain this to her now? I haven't even made a plan to 'come out', yet, now everyone thinks I am a bucking fillyfooler. Even though I am I just wanted to reveal it differently, now it’s all bucked up. Oh Celestia what do I do now?” Bonbon's mind swam with these thoughts as she trotted along through Ponyville, following a dirt road to nowhere in particular, finding herself too concerned with her foalishness to care.
Minutes passed, or was it hours? It didn't matter to the cream colored mare trotting along, eyes glued to the dirt road as she mumbled silently to herself, her mind playing out several scenarios of how things would play out when she got back home.
“Nothing bad is going to happen, I go home, see Lyra sitting on the couch as usual, I sit down and explain it was all a misunderstanding and everything will go back to normal” thought Bonbon, tearing her gaze away from the road and up into the blue sky. “Or everything will go wrong, Lyra will kick you out for kissing her, everyone will know you are a fillyfooler and your biggest crush will refuse to reciprocate your feelings of her” said a cynical voice in her mind.
“Don't listen to him, everything will be fine, Lyra will understand if you explain to her everything, you won’t get kicked out, and to the whole getting found out you are secretly a fillyfooler? If they do, why does it matter? Everypony here is very accepting of same sex couples! What is there to worry about?” assured the hopeful and rational voice in her head. Shaking her head, Bonbon blocked out the inner conflict between the two voices in her head she focused her attention on a lone cloud in the sky.
“I wish I was like you Mr. Cloud, floating lazily without a care in the world, if only for a minute I cou-eeyah!” Bonbon's muttering cut short, suddenly finding herself falling flat on her face as the force of twenty buffalo rammed into her backside thrust her into the dirt road.
“Fan bucking fantastic” Bonbon grumbled into the dirt. She heard the sounds of two sets of hooves trotting over to her, stopping just shy of her head. A quiet voice said something, but whoever was speaking was doing so very quietly.
“It was an accident Fluttershy, geez don't make it sound like I killed the mare, um, you’re not dead are you?” said a raspy voice followed by prodding. Sighing into the dirt once more, Bonbon raised her head at the source of the voice to find two mares standing over her, immediately recognizing the yellow and blue mares.
“Yeah I'm alright Dash, hey Shy, oof, what the buck happened?” grunted Bonbon as she struggled to stand. Fluttershy offered Bonbon a hoof as well as Rainbow dash, taking both of their hooves in her own she found herself suddenly right side up along with a nasty sense of vertigo.
“Um, Rainbow was showing me one of her tricks and well she spiraled out of control and....” muttered Fluttershy, her voice getting lower to a whisper as she explained.
“Aw it was all according to plan, the spiral was part of the blitz double barrel roll supreme, I just forgot to swing left is all! Besides I just kinda sorta didn't see you, is all, eheheheh....” Rainbow trailed off with a nervous chuckle. Bonbon just glared at Rainbow before letting out a long sigh.
“Kinda wish you did kill me Dash” muttered Bonbon under her breath.
“What was that?” Rainbow asked, glancing over to Fluttershy with a confused look. Oh great, she can't pull these two in her mess. Nopony needs to suffer the Embarrassment alongside her.
“Oh it's nothing, if you will both excuse me I have to go and think over some things” Bonbon said unenthusiastically as she made her way past her accidental attackers only to get stopped dead in her tracks. A yellow wing thrust in front of her face barring her escape.
“Wait, why did you say that Bonbon? What’s bothering you?” the motherly tone of the caring yellow pegasus soothed Bonbon's worries away. For a few moments Bonbon fiddled her hooves together in the dirt worriedly, but her doubt was blown away as she looked up to meet with two caring pools of blue.
“It wouldn't hurt to tell you I guess, I-I am a fillyfooler” squeaked Bonbon, wincing as, expecting a verbal blow to come from the shy pegasus. Instead only a soft, “oh” was all Fluttershy had said.
“Is that such a bad thing?” asked Fluttershy as she pulled back her wing, giving Bonbon a warm smile.
“Hah! I knew it, let me guess, the lucky mare is Lyra right?” chuckled Rainbow, punching Bonbon in the shoulder. Bonbon's ears drooped at the mention of her crush's name, bringing back the memories of what happened barely an hour ago. “Rainbow! Please be considerate about this, Bonbon is clearly uncomfortable with herself about this!” Fluttershy yelled, or at least yelled as much as Fluttershy could, which wasn't a very loud pony. Before the yellow and blue pegasi could argue Bonbon waved her hooves between the two bickering mares.
“Actually, it's more than just me being a fillyfooler guys, I royally bucked up a few hours ago...” satisfied that she had their full attention she let out a sigh and began to recite the event of her kissing Lyra and running away in full detail. After recounting the tale Bonbon was met with only silence for a moment, until Fluttershy spoke up first,
“Oh my, that's terrible Bonbon, but you shouldn't let it put you down, I think that this can be fixed up easily” Bonbon only tilted her head at the shy mare, uttering only one word, “how?” Fluttershy stopped for a moment, looking deep in thought as she closed her eyes, forehooves folded across her chest. After a few moments her eyes shot open and she pulled Rainbow dash behind an outstretched wing. Bonbon only raised an eyebrow at the odd scene in front of her as the two mares whispered to each other silently, occasionally peering over Fluttershy's wing at Bonbon, then ducking back behind it to continue whispering.
“What the hay are you two whispering about?” Bonbon asked anxiously. The response she received was only a “shush” and then whispering once more, making her anxiety worsen by the second. Finally the two mares broke from their huddled position and turned back to Bonbon, both wearing a smile on both their faces.
“We have just the idea for ya Bonnie! The spa!” announced Rainbow as she puffed out her chest triumphantly. Before Bonbon could ask, Rainbow presented a slip of paper to Bonbon, who cautiously took it in her hoof and inspected it.
“One free massage and Jacuzzi, bath deluxe combo” was printed across the slip in fancy lettering along with a tiny printed picture of Aloe and Lotus holding a pose, classy. Crinkling the slip of paper between her hooves thoughtfully Bonbon considered her options.
“Go to the spa, relax and think up a plan to make things right with Lyra, or mope around Ponyville for a few hours like a downer?” the rational voice sang in a sing song voice in Bonbon's subconscious. The choice was obvious.
“Good idea brain. I might as well enjoy myself and ease my nerves” thought Bonbon as she folded the slip of paper and slipped it behind her ear.
“So....will you go?” Fluttershy asked quietly while she kicked at the ground meekly.
“Might as well you know? There is no reason to mope about this whole thing, a few hours at the spa will put things in perspective! Oh and thanks you guys!” chimed Bonbon as she trotted past the two mares and onward, a new found spring in her step. Unbeknownst to Bonbon she was being watched from up above in the sky by both Fluttershy and Rainbow dash.
“Step one complete, soon she will be at the spa and then step two will be ready eheheheh” Rainbow dash exclaimed to herself as she punched the air victoriously.
“Oh yes, I will get our secret weapon ready for step two, remember to signal me when Bonbon gets into the mud bath okay Dashie?” ordered the yellow mare as she glided back down to the streets of Ponyville. Waving goodbye to her shy companion Rainbow flew off towards the spa, giggling giddily to herself along the way.
Sometime Later....
Here she was, outside the doors leading to the spa, taking a deep breath Bonbon pushed passed the intricate doors and trotted inside. Not even a step inside and she was assaulted by the sweet scent of flowers and scented oils, still smelled the same like the last time she visited months ago.
“Oh! I shall be zer in vone minute!” yelled a voice somewhere in the back of the establishment by the sound of it. Silently Bonbon complied and waited, examining the waiting room and it's fancy décor. After a few moments a blue mare popped up from behind the counter, flipping her pink her in a dramatic fashion as she did. Bonbon couldn't help but feel jealous of how somepony can make such an odd entrance look graceful. Flipping her hair once more the mare finally laid her eyes on Bonbon and instantly lit up.
“Ah miz Bonbon! It has been quite a vhile since your last vizit, welcome back!” greeted the spry spa pony known as Lotus; she was still as upbeat as Bonbon remembered. Rubbing the back of her head nervously Bonbon just sheepishly smiled.
“Yeah sorry, I did say I was coming back soon didn't I? It's just that business at the candy boutique has been pretty crazy, and my roommate....” Bonbon trailed off into a whisper as she remembered why she had come to the spa in the first place. To relax and forget about Lyra, so far so good right?
“Vell do not worry about all that work and toil, ve are here to help with your every needs, just as long as you pay of course” giggled the spa pony as she spoke in a business like tone. Bonbon just rolled her eyes at the mare.
“Still a shrewd as always huh Lotus, well actually I have a coupon for today, now where did I, ah here we are!” reaching up behind her ear and plucking the folded slip in her hooves, Bonbon placed the coupon on the counter. Raising an eyebrow Lotus snatched up the slip, raising it inches away from her azure eyes as she inspected the coupon. She scrutinized both sides of it intently. After a few moments Lotus made an “ahah” noise and reached underneath the counter and brought out a stamp block and promptly imprinted a symbol of a lotus flower on the coupon. Taking the stamp as well as the coupon under the desk and out of sight Lotus brought her attention back to Bonbon.
“Everyting zeems to be in order miz Bonbon, ef you would follow me please” the spa pony curtly said as she left the counter and opened the door next to it, beckoning her hoof at the cream mare to follow. Following close behind the blue mare Bonbon couldn't help but stare at the Lotus's flanks, finding herself taking in her well-endowed curves. But she tore herself out of her flank induced stupor, the thought that Lyra had a better flank reassuring to her, somehow.
“It's because she doesn't have the hips to back it up like Lyra, I mean remember what happened earlier?” Bonbon's inner voice echoed in her mind. Slapping herself mentally Bonbon cursed her inner voice.
“I am here to forget what happened Brain! Shut up!” Bonbon mentally yelled at her inner ego.
“Fight me as much as you want, you still have to go back and confront her eventually” and with that her inner ego was silent, leaving Bonbon to bring her attention back to the spa and Lotus. Now that the idea of ogling Lotus and combating her inner demon was done she found herself soaking in the sights and sounds of the spa, passing by other ponies getting massages and manicures, some even getting hot rocks placed on their backs. The sound of sizzling flesh making her cringe, how in Celestia's great plot did that feel enjoyable? Soon Bonbon found herself in front of an empty massage bed, with Lotus already preparing an assortment of gels and oils.
“And here ve are miz Bonbon, if you could be zo kind as to lay on your stomach please” ordered Lotus as she rubbed her hooves together and patting the bed. Following her order Bonbon jumped onto the bed and lay flat on her belly, stretching her limbs into comfortable positions letting her front hooves dangle over the edge of the massage bed.
“So, your coupon iz for a massage ant a dip in the Jacuzzi for ze last part of your stay here, oh and here you go for your head miz Bonbon” explained Lotus as she placed a pleasantly warm towel over Bonbon's head and eyes.
“So what will be th-oooooh yeah” before Bonbon could ask Lotus assaulted her lower back, deftly kneading her flesh in between jabs and prods of her expert hooves.
“Oh you are very tense miz Bonbon, vat is troubling you?” queried the spa pony as she dug her hooves into a particularly painful knot in her neck. Letting out a sigh Bonbon swung her hooves against the bed, letting the sound of little thumps of hoof on wood calm her down a bit before she spoke,
“Lyra and I, well, I kinda bucked things up between us Lotus” she could hear a very audible gasp from Lotus but the kneading on her back didn't miss a beat.
“She didn't break things off with you did she?” Lotus's comment caused her to jump a bit in surprise, but she caught herself before she sat up, not willing to leave the sensation of Lotus's master hoof work.
“W-what do you mean by that Lotus?” Bonbon asked cautiously, easing back into the bliss that was Lotus's hooves.
“Oh yes, you two are zuch a cute couple, I would hate to zee you two, how you say, split up, if you will” Lotus mused quietly as she moved from the knot of Bonbon's neck to her shoulders. Groaning a bit at the tense sensation of months of stress being worked out Bonbon revved up another question,
“So you think Lyra and I are together?” the idea of it making her giddy, but the reality of the situation bringing her back to Equestria.
“Yes, unless you are, oh my, I am zo sorry miz Bonbon, I just azzumed you were with Lyra, my apologiez” from the sound of Lotus's worried tone Bonbon imagined Lotus looked like the spitting image of awkward. Nonetheless her hooves still worked their magic, what a trooper. The rest of the massage was filled with silence, very awkward silence, but at least it was relaxing. Maybe a little too relaxing as Bonbon dozed off. A few moments later and Lotus tapped Bonbon's toweled head, waking her from her massage induced stupor. Sitting up she pulled off the warm towel and was hit with the pleasant cool air of the spa, looking over to Lotus she hopped off the massage bed and stretched her limbs numb from laying down for who knows how long.
“Ugh how long was I out?” slurred Bonbon as she ran a hoof through her damp mane, ruffling the now frizzled curls.
“Hm? Oh yes, you vere out for about an hour ant a half, I didn't want to wake you since you looked so relaxed and I needed more time to get all of those terrible knots out of your back, you must take time to relax yourzelf miz Bonbon” hearing how long that moment of dozing actually was caused Bonbon to blush a bit in embarrassment. But she silently thanked Lotus for letting her sleep and still work out the kinks in her back.
“Now zen, next iz your Jacuzzi soak, follow me if you please” with that said Bonbon once again followed the eccentric mare through the halls of the spa, passing by more customers and other odd assortments of spa treatments. Suddenly a thought crept into Bonbon's mind, where was Aloe?
“Um Lotus, where is your sister Aloe? Doesn't she usually help you out on these VIP sort of things?” with that said Lotus just sighed, shaking her head as she trotted.
“My zister is out sick, with ze flu so I am here all by myself for today, but it iz no problem, I would do this for as long az zit takes for my zister to get better, do not worry for me miz Bonbon!” Lotus declared happily, she's dedicated though Bonbon had to admit. Soon both mares found themselves outside a fancy oak door, with a sign stating “Jacuzzi Room” in just as fancy letters.
“And here ve are, the Jacuzzi room and the last but certainly not least part of your session with us, after you miz Bonbon” Lotus chimed while she pushed open the door, motioning a hoof for Bonbon to come inside. Moving past the courteous spa pony Bonbon found herself in the most luxurious looking part of the spa she has ever been to. Not even the massage and manicure room matched the luxury this place had. This room had marble columns, marble columns!
“If that isn't the definition of fancy then I don't know what is!” thought Bonbon as she gazed in awe at the room.
“Wow, I guess this is why it's for the VIP ponies huh? Marble columns and everything, oh my! Is that a glass dome on the ceiling? Wow that's a big bath, oh my look at all those soaps! “gaped Bonbon, staring in awe as her eyes roamed the room and finally stopping to gaze at the various assortments of bath items that lay on a rack next to the large circular bath basin.
“Only for the best of the best miz Bonbon, the regular charge for zis particular room iz around one thousand bits, zo you are very lucky zat somepony gave you zuch a special coupon!” Bonbon gulped at the sound of how expensive the very room she was standing in cost. She was very lucky indeed that Rainbow dash and Fluttershy where so gracious with that coupon.
“Heh, I guess I have to thank Fluttershy and Rainbow dash for the coupon then, I don't think I can handle the expense of just being here” Bonbon thought, mentally jotting down a note for returning the favor to those two mares later.
“Anyway, the bath is there for you to enjoy, the soaps and oils are there so feel free to use as much as you would like! And above all else enjoy yourself to the fullest miz Bonbon, adieu!” and with a wink coupled with a curt bow Lotus left Bonbon alone with the Jacuzzi.
“Now for some me time, just some me, myself, and I” the cream pony sighed to herself and she tentatively tested the warm water and followed suit, dipping her entirety in the bath. Now this felt unreal, the Jacuzzi was so pleasantly warm and tingly, must have been the minerals at work. But whatever it was it felt relaxing. With another blissful sigh Bonbon snatched up several of the soaps and lotions on the rack nearby, inspecting the labels and colors of each one.
“Apple cider blend, lilac bliss, citrus mix, wow, all of these look refreshing, but which one....” Bonbon muttered to herself, picking up all of the different varieties and subsequently placing them back. There were just too many to choose from! That is until a certain green soap sitting next to a similarly green lotion bottle caught her eye, picking the two up in her hooves she read the inscription aloud.
“Mint green breeze, Lyra....” a heavy feeling sank in her chest, thoughts of the green mare clouding her thoughts, from her bright smile to her amber eyes. Lyra was all she could think about and it hurt. Bonbon's ears fall flat against her head, eyes squeezed shut. It hurt that she messed up their friendship by kissing her, it hurt that Lyra probably doesn't want to see her, it hurt that she will never feel the same about her. Funny how a bar of soap brought those thoughts crashing down on her. Looking up at the glass dome above she sighed wistfully.
“I just wish something good would come from all of this, but that's just wishful thinking huh? I just wanted to tell her everything but I just bucked it up, I want a second chance. Oh buck me who am I even talking to? No one is even listening, whatever....may as well relax and cross that bridge when I get home”. With a single tear Bonbon sunk down to her muzzle in the calming water. Unknown to Bonbon her sad words were being heard, up above past the dome hovered Rainbow dash, her ear pressed against the glass as she eaves dropped on the sad mare bathing below.
“Well then, Fluttershy was right again, don't worry Bonnie, everything will get better, now to get the show on the road” smirking to herself Rainbow took in a deep breath and did her best impersonation of a crow, or at least a crow with strep throat. A few seconds later the sound of another crow sounded out from somewhere down below, now all she had to do now was wait.
“Alright Flutters, you can do this, match maker, match maker” chanted Rainbow as she flew up to a nearby cloud and brought it down to rest next to the glass dome. “Best seat in the house, hehehe” laughed Rainbow as she fluffed up the cloud to a comfortable level of fluffiness and lay on it. Rubbing her hooves together she watched Bonbon, making sure she was still staying put, everything rested on Bonbon staying right where she was after all. Meanwhile back at the entrance of the spa Fluttershy was trotting along with a certain mint green mare, conversing quietly.
“I just don't know Fluttershy, I don't know how to feel about this whole thing, Bonbon kissed me and just turn tail and galloped away before I could even say anything! I had to deal with the crowd all by myself and boy oh boy did those idiots ask questions, ugh!” Lyra fumed, nearly yelling as she stamped her hoof into the ground, bringing up dust. This cause Fluttershy to recede behind her mane, letting out a scared whimper.
“W-well I am sure Bonbon is just as worried as you were, perhaps it was all a misunderstanding?” questioned Fluttershy as she slowly inched out of her mane. Lyra shook her head, keeping her gaze ahead, a look of anger in her eyes, but there was something else, longing? Fluttershy was good at reading ponies, she was sure she caught a special flare in her amber eyes. That flare was all she needed; everything will go smoothly after all, hopefully.
“Misunderstanding? She kissed me, and I didn't kiss her back like an idiot, I just stood there and stared back at her like a filly caught stealing from the cookie jar.” with that said both Lyra and Fluttershy had arrived at the spa.
“Anyways, thank you for giving me a coupon for this place, haven't gone in a long time and I need this to get my mind of things for a little bit before I head back home to talk with Bonbon” Lyra's voice faltering as she said her roommates name, bowing her head low to avoid Fluttershy's gaze. Suddenly Lyra felt a soft pressure against her side, looking up she saw Fluttershy's wings covering her in a hug.
“Everything will be fine Lyra, who knows maybe Bonbon feels the same way about you? Just give it a chance okay? Now enjoy your spa time ok?” the motherly voice of Fluttershy was calming to the mint green mare, giving her a sense of courage to face Bonbon. Hugging the yellow mare back she muttered her good byes and slipped inside the spa, leaving Fluttershy to fidget with her hooves in worry.
“Oh I hope those two work everything out, please let this work” suddenly feeling nervous about the success rate of her plan Fluttershy began pacing, stopping only for a moment to notice a blue blur land a few feet away from her.
“Well, Bonbon is waiting in the Jacuzzi room just like you said, now we just wait for Lyra to make her entrance right?” questioned Rainbow. Still pacing worriedly Fluttershy nodded to her blue companion.
“I just hope that they work things out okay, they both like each other but one of them has to admit first I suppose, oh I hope they don't fight....” Fluttershy mumbled as she resorted to chewing on her hooves, stopping in mid pace as she did so. Rolling her eyes Rainbow pulled the shy mare's hooves from her mouth.
“Shy, everything will turn out fine okay? I mean what can possibly go wrong with two mares pining for each other secretly while taking a spa bath together?” Fluttershy thought on Rainbow's words for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
“You are right Rainbow, I guess I am just being a worry wart again, well, let’s just give those two some time alone shall we? I mean if you don't mind, I mean we could eaves drop if that’s okay with you....” if Rainbow dash could roll her eyes any harder at Fluttershy's attempt to persuade eavesdropping, they would corkscrew in their sockets.
“Alright Shy, let’s go eavesdrop on them, come one” with that said the duo took flight and went to do just that. Meanwhile back in the bath Bonbon was idly floating on her back, still holding the green soap between her hooves. Suddenly the sound of something banging against wood echoed in the room, it sounded like knocks.
“And here is ze Jacuzzi area, enjoy your stay miz” Lotus’s voice echoed throughout the room as she spoke to someone. Soon after the door opened, curious as to see who it was Bonbon peered over the bath's edge; to her dismay Lyra poked her head through the door. Muffling a shriek Bonbon dove underwater, hoping to Celestia she wasn't seen. From under the water she could hear Lyra getting closer, the muffled sounds of her hooves against tile reverberating through the water.
“There is no point in hiding Bonbon; she is going to see you, where are you going to hide exactly? In this clear spa water? Be the strong mare you are and say hi! Also you’re going to run out of air soon so might as well” the rational voice nearly screamed at her from the depths of her mind. As much as she hated to admit it, her ego was right, there is no way around this one.
Steadying herself for a second more Bonbon pushed her head out from the safety of the water only to bump noses with the mint green mare. The two mares only stared at each other, both frozen in surprise at finding the other, Bonbon gulped dryly and so did Lyra.
“Um, h-hi” Bonbon’s voice shaky in the face of her crush. “Hi” responded Lyra, slowly pulling away from Bonbon, rubbing her forehoof awkwardly but never breaking eye contact.
“So, came to the spa huh?” Lyra nodded at her question, still rubbing her hooves.
“Y-yeah, both of us here, weird huh? Well, uh, mind if I come in?” from the look of Lyra shuffling in place it looked like she was nervous just to ask. Bonbon could only dumbly nod, wading away from the green mare as to give her room to enter. Sure enough Lyra tested the waters with a hoof then diving in headfirst, resurfacing seconds later.
“Wow she always looks cuter when wet” mentally slapping herself Bonbon coughed silently, breaking the silence between them.
“Relaxing huh?” Bonbon cursed herself, was that really the best she could come up with? Lyra nodded, pushing her hooves against the water sending ripples along towards Bonbon in a cascade.
“Mhmm, well um....would you like me to wash your hair for you?” Lyra muttered, her eyes downcast away from Bonbon, her cheeks turning a slight shade of red. Bonbon's breath caught in her throat.
“W-what?” Nodding again the green mare inched closer to Bonbon, but not daring to move closer than a few feet away. As if any sudden movement would spook her into running away.
“Yeah, you know like we used to when we were foals? It's okay if you don't want to Bonnie” every thought in Bonbon's head screamed at her to say no, but she paid those thoughts no heed.
“Y-yeah, sure” with that said Bonbon waded past Lyra, as she hunched over to lay her chest against the curb of the pool, using a nearby towel as a makeshift mat to keep herself comfortable on the hard tile. Her heart began beating faster at the idea of Lyra behind her, only the sounds of her wading through the water to her left. as well as the rack of bath materials clinking against the tile. The sounds of a plastic container snapping open made her ears perk up towards the sound, followed by the noise of something squeezing out of said container, shampoo. A few moments passed in silence until the sensation of Lyra's hooves against the sides of her head nearly caused her to take off and run like she did earlier today, but she fought the urge. Doing her best not to shake at her crush's touch. A few moments passed in silence as the sensation of Lyra massaging her scalp gently calmed the cream mare.
“So....” the comfortable silence broken as Lyra stopped washing, but she kept her hooves still.
“About what happened earlier today in town” the awkward in the air was so thick it could be cut with a knife. Bonbon was silent, biting her lip in worry of what was to come next, so many scenarios running through her mind, every single one ending badly.
“Why did you kiss me Bonbon? I mean, well there really isn't any another way I can ask that huh?” the question driving Bonbon's heart rate through the roof, her face resembling that very same shade of tomato from earlier today.
“I-I-I....” the words stuck in her throat, she was in deep and telling anything besides the truth would only make the it worse than it already is, if that was possible at this point.
“Lyra....I like you okay? Not like in a friend way, I like you as more than a friend, like, oh boy how do I… I like you a lot okay!” stumbling over her words like a filly presenting a speech in front of the classroom Bonbon face hooved at her wording, it definitely just got worse. Lyra was silent, no words spoken, but she began massaging her scalp once more, digging her hooves into her hair with slow and deliberate movements.
“How long?” the question, although simple was unnerving, the moment of truth, the reveal of her long hidden feelings for the mint green mare. It was now or never. Taking a breath to steady herself, Bonbon tapped her hooves together and let out a shaky exhale.
“A long time, ever since we were fillies I started to get attached to you, but only during college did I ever let those feelings grow past that. It drives me crazy to feel this way about you that I can barely think sometimes. And when you were teasing me earlier, I just couldn't help myself, I let my feelings control my actions. I am so sorry Lyra....” silence. That was her response. No words, just the feeling of Lyra's hooves on her. Slowly the hooves moved lower, past her scalp, down to her neck, and then something happened that froze her. Lyra's hooves worked their way around her neck and clasped together around her.
“Why are you apologizing Bonbon?” the question confused her, letting out a single shaky word, “Huh?”. Bonbon felt Lyra's grip grow tighter around her neck, hearing Lyra sigh into her ears causing her to twitch slightly from the sensation.
“I have a confession to make myself Bonnie....” the use of her pet name easing her tension, but only just.
“I-I feel the same way, I like you to, in that way I mean, I, gosh this is hard, what I am saying is that I care about you deeply. I just never thought you would return my feelings you know? I still don't know for sure how I feel about all this....” Bonbon listened as Lyra poured her heart out, taking in every word as she went on. She couldn't believe what she was hearing! Lyra felt the same way about her!
“I just, want this to work out between us, and....” Lyra stopped, letting out a sigh as she rested her chin against the top of Bonbon's head.
“I'm scared Bonbon, I have never felt this way about anyone, be it mare or stallion and frankly, I don't know what to do....” the sounds of Lyra sniffling broke her heart, she had to say something. A single thought went through her mind.
“Here goes nothing” reaching up to Lyra's hooves she gently pulled them off of her, allowing her to turn around and face the mare of her dreams and what she saw tore her heart apart even more. She was crying, the love of her life was crying in front of her.
“Lyra, look at me” the sniffling mare obeyed, looking up at the cream mare, her eyes puffy from the recently shed tears. Gently Bonbon wiped her friend’s tears away, cupping her face softly in her hooves.
“I am scared too, I don't know what other ponies will think about us, but I want you to know that I....” Bonbon gulped, moving her arms around Lyra in a desperate hug, burying her face into the mare's neck, taking in her scent. Before she could finish Lyra returned the hug, her hooves snaking around Bonbon's waist tentatively.
“I love you too” Bonbon’s heart soared, Lyra said it! The words she wanted to hear for so long, it felt unreal, this couldn't be real. Pulling back from the hug but not breaking free of her embrace she gazed longingly into those pools of amber that put her in a trance every time. Slowly but surely Bonbon inched closer, throwing caution to the wind as she bumped her muzzle against Lyra's, her heart beating faster than ever she took the initiative. Sealing her lips over Lyra's, relishing in the same soft lips she kissed earlier day. Moments passed when until they both pulled away, Lyra sporting a new shade of red on her cheeks, as well as Bonbon if the warm feeling on her face was to be trusted.
“Lyra I-hmmph!” before she could utter another word Lyra lunged at the mare, planting her lips against hers once more. But unlike the previous kiss which was innocent and tested the waters, this one was desperate. Lyra hungrily pressing her lips as hard as she could into Bonbon's.
“Oh sweet Celestia this isn't a dream, oh my, should I? Oh buck it!” without a second thought Bonbon flicked her tongue across her love's lips and not a second later did Lyra opened her lips in acceptance, lashing out with her own tongue at Bonbon's. The feeling of their tongues wrestling for dominance was unreal, the warmth of intertwined flesh, and the taste of her breath on hers. She didn't want it to end, and neither did Lyra. But up above the glass dome were two very embarrassed mares, one blue and one yellow both sporting bright red faces.
“Um, I think the plan was a success, shall we?” Rainbow dash sputtered, coughing into her hoof awkwardly. Tearing her gaze away from the heated moment below, Fluttershy covered her eyes behind her hooves with a squeak.
“Y-yes, let’s give them priva-oh my I didn't know a pony could bend that way, I-I meanletsgodashifyouwouldn'tmind” and with that said both mares flew hurriedly away, leaving the two love birds to their special moment.
“We can check on them tomorrow anyways” both nodded in agreement, the image of Lyra and Bonbon tongue dueling still burned in their minds.
Some Time later....
It was getting late in Ponyville, the shops began to close and Luna's bright moon began to rise over the night sky as it shone brilliantly over the quaint town. As ponies of every shape and size went along their business, two particular mares trotted side by side were among the few who were still wandering around. One cream colored and one mint green, the two mares leaned into each other as they went, nuzzling into each other’s necks as they did. Letting out a sigh of bliss the mint mare spoke up breaking the blissful silence.
“So I guess this makes us a couple now huh?” Lyra giggled into Bonbon's neck. Bonbon just smiled, planting a soft kiss just underneath Lyra's horn then another and another, trailing down until she reached her lover's lips. With an embarrassed giggle Lyra punched the cream mare's shoulder playfully.
“That a yes then?” she smirked, returning the kiss with a smooch of her own. Nuzzling her nose against Lyra's Bonbon just smiled.
“You tell me” and with that Lyra just laughed softly whilst returning her nuzzle with one of her own, sighing contently. Bonbon gazed up into the sky as did Lyra, the stars twinkling just for them on this perfect night. A day that started badly ended on a sweet note, who woulda thunk it? And now no matter what happens in the future, she would have Lyra by her side, and that's all that matters.
