The Mountain
"Stones," said Film Reel, out on his track. It'd been quite a while since he'd been on this hill.
"Nothing but stones and I keep coming back." and yet when he stood, time seemed to stand still.
"I almost forgot," he huffed, quite out of his breath, "all about what it was like."
He collapsed to the floor nearly wheezing to death as he reached the end of his hike.
Then out of the blue, a glow came to rise, brilliant, orange and fierce.
It seemed alive, he soon realized, or at least that's how it appears.
A bang, a rumble, a bright white flash, the pony was knocked to the ground.
He rushed to the source with a hop, skip and dash but stopped dead at what he found.
Three ponies, he saw, appearing aflame, made of rock and searing fire.
Their eyes were glowing, a glow quite profane, he could only stand and admire.
Just as he approached the being, although, it spotted him, ran far away.
Film Reel sat there, his mind working slow, wondering why the beast didn't stay.
Out of the corner of the earth pony's eye, he caught a glimpse of another faint glow.
A lumbering pile of he could spy, and another fire pony lying below.
He freed the creature, which proved a quest, for the rocks were heavy and he was alone.
But after pushing at his body's best, he liberated the beast from the stone.
It was smaller than the other, Film Reel could well see and its eyes were bigger as well.
Before he could study what its species would be, it burnt his face with the fires of hell.
On its way to safety, the young being looked back, felt sorrow overcoming its mind.
Film Reel crouched over screaming, his face scorched black, only briefly looking behind.
As it understood what the stranger had done, it lunged forward, gave him a kiss.
Film's eyes went wide as if shot by a gun, then closed them in this moment of bliss.
They stood in a ring of fire, which rose exponentially higher.
Film opened his eyes and to his surprise, the creature was no longer on fire.
