Highs And The Deep Dark Lows

Rainbow Dash trotted down the bustling roads of ponyville. It had been a long day and she looked forward to getting home. A cool evening breeze ran through her prismatic mane. After quickly stopping into sugarcube corner to get a cupcake (with a pickle) to satisfy her odd cravings. Dash continued her walk down the roads of her beloved little town, eventually getting to her destination. As she was getting ready to fly up to her cloud home, she was stopped by twilight, who looked concerned. "Hey Rainbow! How's the pregnancy going?" Dash looked down at her bulging stomach. "Oh fine...Yea..." She mumbled, hiding the pickle- cake behind her back. "Well umm, I'd like to get another screening of the foal before he's delivered, to make sure everything is ok." Twilight said, scratching the back of her head awkwardly. "I'll be seeing ya! Oh, by the way, tell Thunderlane I said Hi!" And Twi cantered off. Dash sighed, looking up at her fluffy house of clouds. The one thing she was happy about was her leave off weather duty while she had the foal. Then again like yesterday, dash began the fliught up and up to her house. She flapped furiously, trying to go up, but this far into the pregnancy, that wasn't happening. Dash plopped down into the grass and sighed, looking up.  After what seemed a moon of waiting,  a Dark gray pegasus stallion with an icy blue-green and blue-white mane came floating down to assist her. "Thunderlane!" Dash yelled, happy to see his face. "I thought I'd- errr We, would have to sleep out here." They chatted about their day, adding in this or that, leaving out this, laughing, talking about the highs and deep dark lows. "Thundy... I'm actually scared about.. you know... Our little foal... If I can't Provide-" She was inturrupted. "Shhhhhh." He's gonna be fine, just wait and see. He'll be perfect." With that closing the conversation, Thunderlane helped dash onto a cloud and they went up, and up, to their cloudy home.

Dash walked into the bedroom and flopped onto the fluffy cloud bed while Thunderlane finished cleaning up the new nursery for the foal. He smiled at the little hoops and landing platforms he had fabricated for his little colt to fly through. He dreamed of him giggling with his father's assisting hooves, enjoying life. He dreamed of his first day at flight camp and him winning his first race. After his Fatherly joy fizzed out, he stumbled into he and Dash's room to fall asleep.

Dash groggily opened her eyes to a kick in her stomach. She imagined her foal saying "Let me out!" and kicking more. Thunderlane was still sleeping, so she didnt even bother to tell him she was leaving for the library. Oh Celestia, she thought. How am I going to get down. She eyed a nearby cloud, it seemed close enough to jump. Dash geared up to take the leap and counted 1 Im not sure about this...2 You can do this just flap your wings... 3 Jump Dash Come on!  Dash sprung off the edge of the cloud her home was on and began her short flight to the other cloud she planned to ride down to earth. Her wings flapped like an insaine bumblebee that had been drinking. She tumbled in the air, weighed down by her unborn colt. She finally flopped her front legs onto the cloud and tried to pull herself up. "GAAAHHH! I HATE YOU, YOU, FOAL!" Rainbow roared. The cloud just then began to wobble, it looked unstable, and dash was surely not ready to fall today. She was still questioning why she was having a foal with a pony she just married, and this little pony was getting in the way of everything she tried to do. She let go.

Dash plummeted down and down from the faulty cloud. The wind whooshed in her hair and into her ears, making it significantly harder to hear. Dash once again tried to fly, but failed in a sort. She scrambled for a little cloud to break her fall. She spotted a small puffy cloud under her, and it was coming fast. She used her wings to steer her through the air. She got ready to land. 1 hoof on her belly. Other ready to touch the cloud. "Here we go..." she mumbled. In a matter of seconds Dash was quietly floating down on a cloud. Safe at last, she thought as they touched the ground. She heared Twilight galloping toward her yelling "COME QUICK!" over and over. Spike flopped along on her back as she ran toward Dash. "I have bad news!" She yelled.
