It was a dark and stormy night. The timberwolves were howling, nopony was outside except a mare wanting to check on her dear friend, Applejack. The pony she was going to visit was very indisposed. She was in black cloak that blended in with the night and darkness. A aura glowed around it and unveiled who it was -- it was Rarity, Rarity Belle. She could have just came earlier -- but why now?
Rarity trotted in; she was trying to be so, very stealth. But why? Did she want to see Applejack alone? Or was it just because they are the best friends and Rarity just wants her to feel better? "What room is Applejack in again?" she murmured to herself. "I don't want to go in someone else's room, for they just might wake up and throw me out of this barn while yelling at me."
A random growl was heard from somewhere. "Huh? Oh, it's just my stomach. I need to go eat an apple and then do my plans. Hopefully they don't go wrong." Rarity said. She trotted outside and used her magic to pick an apple. The aura glowed around it and dragged it towards Rarity. She took a bite of the apple quickly.
Applejack woke up from her slumber and yawned. "What's all that noise out there? Ah'm tryin' to sleep!" the earth mare said. She got up and started trotting down the stairs and to the outside. Her blanket was still on her back; it slipped off when she got down the stairs.
Clip clop....clip clop....clip clop....
"Gyah!" Rarity hopped right in a bush that was the nearest as she heard somepony trotting down the stairs. She wanted it a secret between the two. She means only them, nopony else.
Applejack heard a crunch. The pony AJ was looking for was eating an apple, just because of starvation. "Come out, come out wherever ya are!"
Crunch....crunch....crunch....
"Auuuggghh! Come on!" She heard the pony's crunch, so she decided to follow it. It lead right to a bush, a really pretty one. AJ opened it, "Aha- Rarity? What are y'all doin' here late at night?" Rarity blinked, then sitting up straight. "I just wanted to see if you were okay. You seem okay. Are you?"
"N-no!" Applejack didn't want to release what she hid. Rarity tilted her head, "Okay... Then get to your room."
"How about y'all leave? Hm? Ah am so tired!" "Then let me help you!" moaned Rarity. "Fine..." replied Applejack. Rarity took grip of Applejack's hoof and trotted inside to go upstairs with her. "Rarity, ah don't need this! Now let me go...PLEASE!" said the pony who was faking to be ill. "Darling, you're sick. You aren't going anywhere."
Rarity threw Applejack in bed and went back downstairs to get her some soup and a thermometer. Once finished, Rarity trotted back upstairs to the sick pony. "Here you go, Applejack. Some fresh, hot soup for you!" AJ didn't barely touch the soup -- she just laid there like frozen solid.
"You okay, Applejack?" "Of course, I'll eat my soup-" Rarity interrupted her by sticking the thermometer in AJ's mouth. "SSSHHH! No talking now, I'll go get you a blanket because you don't have one right now." Rarity cracked a tiny smile and trotted downstairs again.
Applejack took out the thermometer and put it in the soup. Once it was heated, she heard Rarity trotting back up with that blanket she told she'd give AJ. She thrust the thermometer in her mouth and it started to give her some pain in the mouth. Applejack could have at least been more careful.
The Unicorn walked in the room and tucked AJ in. She ripped the thermometer out of the sick pony's mouth and checked it. Rarity let out a gasp, then started to speak to Applejack.
"103°F?! You are too ill to go anywhere, darling! Remember to stay in bed all the time until you get better! Also, when you take a nap, you'll get better a bit!"
Applejack sighed, she couldn't take this torture any longer. If she did, she probably would have really been sick. "Rarity, could ah tell ya somethin'?" Rarity peered at her straight in the eye and started to listen, "Yeah?" She never wanted to tell Rarity this, but every single one of the words started to slip off her lip.
"Ah'm so sorry! Ah didn't mean ta lie! Well, ah couldn't help it! Ah needed ta do somethin'! So, I faked that I was sick and-"
Rarity decided to interrupt AJ with a 'shhhh' because she was going rapidly through her words. "Now, darling, it doesn't matter. You just betrayed yourself for awhile. Now, explain why please." Wait, Rarity was calm with it? But she betrayed her element -- her true self! Applejack smiled because Rarity understood everything. "Thank y'all for bein' so cooperative. Now, lemme begin.
It all started a month ago, when ah decided ta break into yer arguments. Once ah help y'all, ya just woke me up everyday. Ah never got ta work, spend time with mah family, other friends...ah couldn't do anythin' because of y'all. That's how ah thought of tha idea of bein' ill. Ah thought it was good, but it was terrible. Ah couldn't stand it any longer. Like ah said before, ah'm so sorry!"
Rarity hugged her friend. "It's all okay." Applejack hugged back. They embraced for about a minute, then broke it rapidly. "Want ta play a game of Truth or Dare?" asked Applejack. Rarity shrugged, "Sure. I guess I could start. Anyways, truth or dare?" Applejack put her hoof on her chin and thought out loud, "Dare!"
"Then...then...I dare you to go to the Canterlot Fancy Contest with me!" replied Rarity to Applejack wanting to choose dare.
"Ah ain't goin' ta no prissy Canterlot Fancy Contest with ya!" Rarity just had a laugh of this. "Well, guess what! You have to!" said the Unicorn. Applejack moaned like a little foal. "Fine..." said Applejack, frowning. "Darling, I'll have to teach you the ways first. Meet me at the Carousel Boutique tomorrow." replied Rarity.
Rarity trotted out of the farm to the Carousel Boutique, having a slight smirk on her face. "This is going to be so fun! Hopefully it will be for Applejack too."
