Chapter 1:
What's with the Pony?
Standing in the middle of my room I look myself over one last time, my sky blue eyes taking in every detail of my outfit and look. I'm wearing my black and red tinted hair in its normal spiky fashion, wearing my favorite shirt, which on the front of said shirt the words, 'Watch your Dubstep, you might drop your bass' is imprinted on the black fabric with yellow lettering. My black slacks fit loosely, but not enough to need a belt. Along with my outfit is my chain wallet as usual. Now that I find myself satisfactory I look around my room for my keys.
"Hey Mom, have you seen my keys?" I yell throwing stuff every which way around my room.
"No Connor I haven't. What do you need them for anyway? I thought you said you didn't have anything planned for today," she yelled back from the kitchen which only happens to be a couple rooms away from mine.
"I told you that I didn't have anything to do yesterday. That was two days ago. I have things to do tonight. I told you that tonight is the opening night of my club! I have to find my keys! I open in less than three hours and I still haven't gotten the DJ stuff set up yet! Now, can you help-" I ramble on and on. I turn around getting ready to ask my mother to help again when I run straight into her and my keys.
"Where'd you find those?" I have the look of an idiot on my face when she tells me they had been on the kitchen counter this whole time.
"Thanks Mom, I won't be home 'til late. Don't wait up. You have to work in the morning and I've got class. I'll be up on time don't worry." I kiss my Mom on the cheek and run out the door after making sure I have everything that I need for tonight.
The car ride doesn't take me long. I pull up to my club. Getting out of the car I look up at the sign. “Oh, man. That's gonna look great all lit up.” I chuckle, open the doors, and head inside. Locking the doors again, I look around at my finished establishment...Well, finished except for the DJ stuff I need to set up.
To my right sits the bar. Containing almost every type of alcohol you can think of. Beer, stout, whiskey, brandy, wine...Ugh, the list goes on and on. Behind the bar sits the backroom and my office. It's not a huge office, but it's big enough to hold what I need. Such as a desk, a few chairs, a large filing cabinet, a mini-fridge full of Monster Energy drinks and bottles of water, and a couch for lounging.
To my left is the lounge full of tables, chairs, booths, and even TVs at the edge of each table. Behind that is the kitchen, and storage room. Oh, how that storage room is full of goodies...Hehe. Although neither of these are the main attraction. The bar and lounge are nothing compared to what sits in the center of my own little slice of Heaven.
Upon metal scaffolding sits my throne, my stage, my second home. It is a large area surrounded by a cage that is only accessible from one doorway that leads directly into my own living space if I so wish to stay at the club on any given night. Directly below my DJing cage is the dance floor. Multicolored squares of light and plenty of space for almost two thousand people to mingle freely.
"Oh man, this looks awesome! Well, time to get to work," I say to myself before setting off in the direction of the cage. As I reach the door to my 'fun room' I take a deep breath. I open the door and begin connecting wires, cables, recording equipment, and my monitors. Oh how I get a thrill when I am setting everything up. Not as big of a thrill as-
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"What the hell? Who could be here when I'm not even open yet...Ugh, this had better be the chick I spoke to on the phone about helping with the DJing." I quickly make my way down from the Cage and yell out to let the person at the door know I'm coming. "Just a minute." I quickly unlock one of the doors and swing it open. "What's up?" I look around not seeing anyone. "Ummm, hello?"
"Down here," says a feminine voice. I look down only to see a white, four legged pony standing there. She has a horn protruding from her forehead. She has a two toned blue mane and tail and has a pair of purple glasses covering her eyes. I notice two black double eighth notes on each side of her hips.
"Ummm...Can I help you?" I ask cautiously and step outside.
"Are you Connor Thorton," she asks with a raised brow.
"Yes, what brings you here?" I am confused, very confused seeing as I am talking to a white unicorn. One of the unicorns that didn't exist about one year ago. Please tell me she isn't here for the DJing job.
"I'm here for the DJing job. We spoke over the phone a couple days ago."
