Chapter 3
Let's Talk Business
I smile widely as I watch all the people and ponies party hard. Everything was perfect for my opening night. The bar was full, the dance floor was booming, and the lounge was full of activity. Nothing could ruin the night now. Almost three hours into the night I notice Vinyl smiling almost as wide as me. I decide to pay her a visit in the cage. I chuckle as I watch a blue Pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail go nuts on the dance floor. Well, even the ponies seem to be having a good time.
I finally reach the cage and open the door. I quickly walk down the hall and stand next to my new friend as she changes the beat once again. Her head bobs to the beat as she works the knobs and switches quickly and with precision. Wow, maybe I was wrong about her. Maybe I shouldn't have judged her so quickly on what she knew.
“How's it going in here? You seem to be enjoying yourself. Do you need anything?” She turns to me and smiles.
“Nah, I'm good. Already have water and an energy drink up here. How are things down below,” She asks with a grin.
“Pretty good. Everything is running rather smooth down there. The bar is full, the dance floor is booming and the lounge is well, loungey...I know that isn't a word, but whatever.” Vinyl giggles at my little remark and continues working the controls and pushing out the beats.
“Well, if you need a break or anything let me know. As a matter of fact, here is a walky in case you need to get a hold of me. I already have it set to my channel so you shouldn't have any problems using it.” I hand her the walky-talky and leave the room, heading for my office. Only a couple hours left and we will be closing down. Didn't think she would last an entire night by herself. Oh well, tomorrow I will let her run things while I DJ.
Pushing the button on my walky I notify security of a rather rowdy man getting a bit irate with a yellow Pegasus with butterflies on her flank. “Get him out of my club now. I will not tolerate bullshit like this. Tell him he can come back when he is sober.” I smirk as I watch my two largest bouncers pick him up by the shoulders and pull him away from the poor mare. I decide I should at least go and tell her I am sorry for the trouble.
I make my way quickly through the crowd and come within earshot of the pony. “Hey, excuse me miss. I would like you to come to my office. I promise you aren't in trouble. It's about what just happened.” The shy Pegasus squeaked, but followed me anyway. As we reach my office I open the door and hold it so that she could pass through the doorway.
“Have a seat wherever you want to. Can I get you something to drink. A water perhaps?”
“Ummm...Water is...Uh fine,” she says shivering slightly.
“Alright.” I grab a bottle from the fridge and hand it over to her. After she takes it I introduce myself. “I'm Connor. I run this establishment. May I ask what your name is?”
“My name....My name is...Fluttershy,” she mumbles almost low enough to where I can't understand her.
“Well, Fluttershy I would just like to apologize for the treatment you received from that man out there. He has been taken care of. There is no reason to be afraid anymore. Did you come to the club alone?” I scratch my chin and prop my feet up on the desk.
“Ummm...No, I...Uh...I actually came with a few friends from Equestria.” She hides slightly behind her mane.
“Ah, I betcha that blue Pegasus with the rainbow mane and tail is one of them isn't she? She sure was-”
“That was my friend Rainbow Dash. She loves to have fun. Well, her and Pinkie Pie.” She grins as she says this and I smile knowing that she is somewhat proud of her friends from what she is saying.
“Well, you ponies are more than welcome anytime you want here at Bedlam Rogue. If you need anything at anytime just let me or one of my staff members know and we will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability.” I scratch the back of my head. “Sorry, I know that I'm rambling, but I wanted to make sure you knew that you had done nothing wrong and that I am wholeheartedly sorry for what had happened out there.”
“It's fine. I just...I'm new to these kinds of places....and well, I wasn't as prepared as I thought I would be. Vinyl Scratch had invited us.”
“Really now? May I ask how you know Miss Scratch?”
“Well, she was a DJ in Ponyville at one of the clubs there...Until it burned down anyway. She was devastated. Me and my friends helped her though and we finally found this place after searching the newspapers and internet. She was really happy, but....She was really scared to try and apply here. She didn't think she could do it after what...What happened.”
“Wow, that is crazy. She never told me that. She just said that she wanted to go to somewhere that would better suit her career as a DJ.”
“Oh...I probably shouldn't have said anything about it then...I'm sorry.” Fluttershy hid behind her mane again and whimpered a bit.
“No, it's alright. I am her employer. It's good to know those types of things. I won't say a word. I promise.”
“Do you Pinkie Pie promise?”
“Ummm....”
“HI! I'm Pinkie Pie. Are you the guy that owns this place?” A bright pink mare with a bubble gum pink mane and tail suddenly appears in front of my face. I fall back out of my chair onto the floor.
Author's Note
Well, this is the end of Chapter 3. I hope that you have enjoyed it. More interesting things are going to be happening within the next couple of chapters. I have lost of ideas floating around inside of what is supposed to be a brain, but reminds me more of a coconut...
