Feedback is welcome, but please don't be a dick and downvote just because you feel like it...I need people to tell me where I have messed up so I can improve. What's with the Pony? Club Bedlam Rogue By: Ambrosia M. Firehoof Chapter 1: What's with the Pony? Standing in the middle of my room I look myself over one last time, my sky blue eyes taking in every detail of my outfit and look. I'm wearing my black and red tinted hair in its normal spiky fashion, wearing my favorite shirt, which on the front of said shirt the words, 'Watch your Dubstep, you might drop your bass' is imprinted on the black fabric with yellow lettering. My black slacks fit loosely, but not enough to need a belt. Along with my outfit is my chain wallet as usual. Now that I find myself satisfactory I look around my room for my keys. "Hey Mom, have you seen my keys?" I yell throwing stuff every which way around my room. "No Connor I haven't. What do you need them for anyway? I thought you said you didn't have anything planned for today," she yelled back from the kitchen which only happens to be a couple rooms away from mine. "I told you that I didn't have anything to do yesterday. That was two days ago. I have things to do tonight. I told you that tonight is the opening night of my club! I have to find my keys! I open in less than three hours and I still haven't gotten the DJ stuff set up yet! Now, can you help-" I ramble on and on. I turn around getting ready to ask my mother to help again when I run straight into her and my keys. "Where'd you find those?" I have the look of an idiot on my face when she tells me they had been on the kitchen counter this whole time. "Thanks Mom, I won't be home 'til late. Don't wait up. You have to work in the morning and I've got class. I'll be up on time don't worry." I kiss my Mom on the cheek and run out the door after making sure I have everything that I need for tonight. The car ride doesn't take me long. I pull up to my club. Getting out of the car I look up at the sign. “Oh, man. That's gonna look great all lit up.” I chuckle, open the doors, and head inside. Locking the doors again, I look around at my finished establishment...Well, finished except for the DJ stuff I need to set up. To my right sits the bar. Containing almost every type of alcohol you can think of. Beer, stout, whiskey, brandy, wine...Ugh, the list goes on and on. Behind the bar sits the backroom and my office. It's not a huge office, but it's big enough to hold what I need. Such as a desk, a few chairs, a large filing cabinet, a mini-fridge full of Monster Energy drinks and bottles of water, and a couch for lounging. To my left is the lounge full of tables, chairs, booths, and even TVs at the edge of each table. Behind that is the kitchen, and storage room. Oh, how that storage room is full of goodies...Hehe. Although neither of these are the main attraction. The bar and lounge are nothing compared to what sits in the center of my own little slice of Heaven. Upon metal scaffolding sits my throne, my stage, my second home. It is a large area surrounded by a cage that is only accessible from one doorway that leads directly into my own living space if I so wish to stay at the club on any given night. Directly below my DJing cage is the dance floor. Multicolored squares of light and plenty of space for almost two thousand people to mingle freely. "Oh man, this looks awesome! Well, time to get to work," I say to myself before setting off in the direction of the cage. As I reach the door to my 'fun room' I take a deep breath. I open the door and begin connecting wires, cables, recording equipment, and my monitors. Oh how I get a thrill when I am setting everything up. Not as big of a thrill as- KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK "What the hell? Who could be here when I'm not even open yet...Ugh, this had better be the chick I spoke to on the phone about helping with the DJing." I quickly make my way down from the Cage and yell out to let the person at the door know I'm coming. "Just a minute." I quickly unlock one of the doors and swing it open. "What's up?" I look around not seeing anyone. "Ummm, hello?" "Down here," says a feminine voice. I look down only to see a white, four legged pony standing there. She has a horn protruding from her forehead. She has a two toned blue mane and tail and has a pair of purple glasses covering her eyes. I notice two black double eighth notes on each side of her hips. "Ummm...Can I help you?" I ask cautiously and step outside. "Are you Connor Thorton," she asks with a raised brow. "Yes, what brings you here?" I am confused, very confused seeing as I am talking to a white unicorn. One of the unicorns that didn't exist about one year ago. Please tell me she isn't here for the DJing job. "I'm here for the DJing job. We spoke over the phone a couple days ago." //-------------------------------------------------------// We Are Open //-------------------------------------------------------// We Are Open Club Bedlam Rogue By: Ambrosia M. Firehoof Chapter 2: We Are Open Oh Gods a pony is here for the job, I think to myself before shaking my head. I look down at her again before motioning her inside. "Alright, well I need help setting up. So if you want help me out with that first...We can discuss the rest after we get finished with that." I lead her farther into the club and back to the cage. "Nice place. Reminds me of the club I used to work at. Although that place was a dump compared to the decorating in here. The cage is a nice touch too." She continues looking around until we reach the unfinished set-up. "Alright, what do you know how to do with this stuff?" I ask this question with a raised brow, not expecting her to know a thing about any of the equipment. "Well, I can see you have those two cords plugged in backwards for sure." She points to two sound cords, which happen to actually be, as she said, backwards. I watch as her horn glows a pale blue and the cords reverse themselves. She then proceeds to set up the turntables directly in the middle of my floor. She connects the cords quickly. I stand there slack-jawed as she finishes my work before I can even do anything. My monitors are connected and set up. The speakers are connected. The turntable, the light synchronization is finished and ready to go, and the soundboard is even set up flawlessly. "How'd you do that?" I ask. "What? Oh, you've never seen Unicorn magic before have you?" "Nope, because I thought that magic didn't exist...Well, I guess I've seen everything now. Talking Unicorns that can use magic." "Name's Vinyl Scratch, also known as DJ Pon-3. It's nice to meet you." She holds out a hoof which I hesitantly reach out and shake. "Connor Thorton, although you already know that. Also known as DJ Necromantic. I've been a DJ for roughly thirteen years now. Started when I was twelve. I'm twenty-five now. Can't believe I still live with my mom. That's due to some moron destroying everything I owned when I was nineteen." "Well, seems like you've got everything under control now. What time do you open up?" I look at my watch. "Not for another two hours," I answer. "You hungry? Maybe want something to drink?" "Sure, you got any energy drinks?" "I have a bunch of Monsters in the office." "Awesome! I can deal with those." "Good. Well, let's get going then. We have a lot to discuss." We go back to the office and I hand a drink to her which she opens with her magic. I pop the tab on my own drink and sit back in my chair. "So, tell me a little about yourself Vinyl. Where are you from? What brings you to Earth?" I prop my feet up on the desk and wait for her to answer. "Well, in Equestria I was born in a small town called Ponyville. It's home to only a couple hundred ponies. Six of which are extremely famous throughout the entirety of Equestria. They are the main thing that keeps the entire place safe. They are the Elements of Harmony. It was pretty kick-ass watching them take down Discord, who is like this crazy dude that wanted nothing, but chaos for Equestria. Anyway, I like living there, but I just needed something a bit more, well exciting. Yeah, I went and worked in places like Canterlot which is the Equestrian Capital city and Manehatten, but I needed something that would actually be a new experience. When I heard about the portal opening I was one of the first that wanted to go through. My best friend and roommate Octavia wasn't happy about it, but she understands this is a big chance for me." She finished off her sentence and took a large gulp of her drink before continuing. "Yeah, so that is pretty much what there is to know about that. So, what about you? Where are you from? What made you get into DJing and opening this place?" I sat there a moment before answering. "Well, I'm originally from a place called Ireland. It is very, well for lack of a better term, green. Lots of countryside and forest. It was nice there, but I ended up moving to the US so that I could do more with my life. See, my father was a DJ. He wasn't very well known, but ever since I saw how much fun he had during his shows I wanted to do the same. It was always his dream to own his own club, but he never got the chance...He kinda got killed after one of his shows. Someone out in the crowd didn't like what he had to say, so it ended badly. That is what got me started though." "I see, well at least you fulfilled his dream as well as your own dream. I'm sure he is proud of you Connor." "I'm sure he is too. I just wish the old bastard could see me now." I look at my watch again and realize it is only an hour until opening time. "Well, I guess I'd better go get the staff ready. We open in an hour. Can you make sure everything is running in the cage?" "Yeah, I got you covered. Do what you need to do." With that, I walk out of the office and go over to the lounge to speak with my staff. Vinyl heads up to the cage and looks around one last time. This is so awesome! She thinks this to herself before stepping up to the soundboard and monitors. She switches them on, turns on the soundboard, makes sure the turntables are working properly, and gets started on making sure the lights are working correctly. "Listen up guys. Club opens in less than an hour. I want all of you to be on your best game tonight. Make sure if anyone gets too rowdy you take care of it quickly and discretely if possible. As for the bar, check and make sure they are twenty-one and older. If they aren't I don't want you selling them alcohol. I mean NO alcohol or you will be fired. Make sure you check ID's at the door. No one under the age of nineteen. If they are do not let them in. I mean it or you will be fired. Remember if they are of club age, but under drinking age give them the band and stamp. I am taking this very seriously. If anything goes wrong I can lose this place and all of you will be out of jobs. I plan to carry out my dream and I'm not going to let anything ruin it." I give every single one of my staff members a very serious look until I hear music. It starts out with what sounds to be a male voice and then a heavy dose of bass. I turn my head and see that the lights are all working in time with the beat and Vinyl is bobbing her head to the beat. I watch her horn as it glows and then I realize that I was wrong. She is good. I notice that what she is playing is coming directly from her freestyle. I am impressed for sure. "Alright, well get into positions and I will come by to make sure you are all ready to go. Security make sure that your mics are turned on and that your ear pieces are working. If you need anything just let me know. I'll let you know when to start letting people in." I quickly make my way back up to the cage and fling open the door. I am grinning ear to ear. Vinyl doesn't even notice me as I walk up behind her and watch her run the entire soundboard. Suddenly the music changes into something that is extremely creepy, but awesome. "I can see that you really do know what you are doing." I laugh as I watch her stop every sound and turn around to stare at me. "Holy shit dude. You just scared the Tartarus outta me. Don't sneak up on ponies like that." "Sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out. That was some really good stuff. Did you make it all freestyle?" "Yeah, I made that stuff a while back, but I thought it would be good to start out doing stuff directly off the board rather than a playlist." "Well, all I can say is I'm impressed for sure. Yeah, I'm gonna let you open the show and then I'll take over half-way through or whenever you need a break. Just let me know. Twenty minutes until opening time. Be ready!" "I will be." I quickly walk off and go to check that my staff is ready. Once I see that everyone is in position and I receive news that the line outside is starting to get lengthy I decide to tell door control to open us up for the night. I watch as people and even a few ponies start filing inside. Some of them go straight to the bar, some go straight to the lounge, and some just wait in the middle of the dance floor for the music to begin. Vinyl grabs the mic in her magical grip and flips the switch to on so that she can speak. "Welcome ladies, gents, and ponies to Club Bedlam Rogue. I am DJ Pon-3 and are you ready to party?" The crowd roars in response. "Come on you can do better than that. Are you ready to party," she asks again. The crowd roars even louder this time. "Much better," she says as she smiles and puts her shades back down over her eyes. "Well, then let's party!!!" Suddenly the lights drop to pure black and you can't see anything. The only thing you hear a few seconds later is a choppy female vocal and a very choppy beat. The music quickly gets faster and then the drop hits. The lights go nuts and so does everyone on the dance floor. I smile to myself and think, We are open for business and thanks Dad. Author's Note I know everything has been coming on kinda slow so far...Don't worry! I will get the ball rolling within the next few chapters and you won't hate me as much. //-------------------------------------------------------// Let's Talk Business //-------------------------------------------------------// Let's Talk Business Club Bedlam Rogue By: Ambrosia M. Firehoof Chapter 3 Let's Talk Business I smile widely as I watch all the people and ponies party hard. Everything was perfect for my opening night. The bar was full, the dance floor was booming, and the lounge was full of activity. Nothing could ruin the night now. Almost three hours into the night I notice Vinyl smiling almost as wide as me. I decide to pay her a visit in the cage. I chuckle as I watch a blue Pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail go nuts on the dance floor. Well, even the ponies seem to be having a good time. I finally reach the cage and open the door. I quickly walk down the hall and stand next to my new friend as she changes the beat once again. Her head bobs to the beat as she works the knobs and switches quickly and with precision. Wow, maybe I was wrong about her. Maybe I shouldn't have judged her so quickly on what she knew. “How's it going in here? You seem to be enjoying yourself. Do you need anything?” She turns to me and smiles. “Nah, I'm good. Already have water and an energy drink up here. How are things down below,” She asks with a grin. “Pretty good. Everything is running rather smooth down there. The bar is full, the dance floor is booming and the lounge is well, loungey...I know that isn't a word, but whatever.” Vinyl giggles at my little remark and continues working the controls and pushing out the beats. “Well, if you need a break or anything let me know. As a matter of fact, here is a walky in case you need to get a hold of me. I already have it set to my channel so you shouldn't have any problems using it.” I hand her the walky-talky and leave the room, heading for my office. Only a couple hours left and we will be closing down. Didn't think she would last an entire night by herself. Oh well, tomorrow I will let her run things while I DJ. Pushing the button on my walky I notify security of a rather rowdy man getting a bit irate with a yellow Pegasus with butterflies on her flank. “Get him out of my club now. I will not tolerate bullshit like this. Tell him he can come back when he is sober.” I smirk as I watch my two largest bouncers pick him up by the shoulders and pull him away from the poor mare. I decide I should at least go and tell her I am sorry for the trouble. I make my way quickly through the crowd and come within earshot of the pony. “Hey, excuse me miss. I would like you to come to my office. I promise you aren't in trouble. It's about what just happened.” The shy Pegasus squeaked, but followed me anyway. As we reach my office I open the door and hold it so that she could pass through the doorway. “Have a seat wherever you want to. Can I get you something to drink. A water perhaps?” “Ummm...Water is...Uh fine,” she says shivering slightly. “Alright.” I grab a bottle from the fridge and hand it over to her. After she takes it I introduce myself. “I'm Connor. I run this establishment. May I ask what your name is?” “My name....My name is...Fluttershy,” she mumbles almost low enough to where I can't understand her. “Well, Fluttershy I would just like to apologize for the treatment you received from that man out there. He has been taken care of. There is no reason to be afraid anymore. Did you come to the club alone?” I scratch my chin and prop my feet up on the desk. “Ummm...No, I...Uh...I actually came with a few friends from Equestria.” She hides slightly behind her mane. “Ah, I betcha that blue Pegasus with the rainbow mane and tail is one of them isn't she? She sure was-” “That was my friend Rainbow Dash. She loves to have fun. Well, her and Pinkie Pie.” She grins as she says this and I smile knowing that she is somewhat proud of her friends from what she is saying. “Well, you ponies are more than welcome anytime you want here at Bedlam Rogue. If you need anything at anytime just let me or one of my staff members know and we will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability.” I scratch the back of my head. “Sorry, I know that I'm rambling, but I wanted to make sure you knew that you had done nothing wrong and that I am wholeheartedly sorry for what had happened out there.” “It's fine. I just...I'm new to these kinds of places....and well, I wasn't as prepared as I thought I would be. Vinyl Scratch had invited us.” “Really now? May I ask how you know Miss Scratch?” “Well, she was a DJ in Ponyville at one of the clubs there...Until it burned down anyway. She was devastated. Me and my friends helped her though and we finally found this place after searching the newspapers and internet. She was really happy, but....She was really scared to try and apply here. She didn't think she could do it after what...What happened.” “Wow, that is crazy. She never told me that. She just said that she wanted to go to somewhere that would better suit her career as a DJ.” “Oh...I probably shouldn't have said anything about it then...I'm sorry.” Fluttershy hid behind her mane again and whimpered a bit. “No, it's alright. I am her employer. It's good to know those types of things. I won't say a word. I promise.” “Do you Pinkie Pie promise?” “Ummm....” “HI! I'm Pinkie Pie. Are you the guy that owns this place?” A bright pink mare with a bubble gum pink mane and tail suddenly appears in front of my face. I fall back out of my chair onto the floor. Author's Note Well, this is the end of Chapter 3. I hope that you have enjoyed it. More interesting things are going to be happening within the next couple of chapters. I have lost of ideas floating around inside of what is supposed to be a brain, but reminds me more of a coconut...
