Yan, a shy pegasus who just learned about the death of his father, German, moved into the home his father left him in his will in Ponyville. While sitting by his father's grave, he comes across an equally shy pegasus, claiming to be a friend of German. Yan befriends her and other ponies claiming to be good friends of German, saying how much of a good person he was. Yan lives in his cold, dismal home, never finding warmth of true friendship or love, never knowing his father, never feeling the joy of making him proud…until his stay in Ponyville, meeting those who know his father on such close terms.
