Father Trent's Story
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryThe following story is sad and takes place far into the past. There was once a group of settler ponies that were wandering through the giant ocean of trees known as Neihbrea forest. ( this forest was much like the ever-free forest except it was much larger and was said to be “Alive” ) Though without heed the settler ponies trotted on deeper into the forest unknowing of what is to come of their intrusion. But by their surprise they cam upon an enormous clearing big enough for a village. The settler ponies were delighted to see their good fortune, this was the true beginning as to what is to be known as the Neihbrea incident.
Soon after they begun to build what was to be their new home, that was newly named Hoofstead. within the first day of their villages construction, they were even blessed by a surprise that their just newly planted crops had fully grown overnight. The happy settler ponies danced and rejoiced to their impossibly good fortune. Even though their days were warm and happy, the nights were cold and rough. The village had gone through the wood supply that they had brought for fuel, even the wood they planned to use for building the rest of the village.
This was a dire problem that the village elders quickly answered, he said that their must be prime lumber to gather in the forest, and this decision will haunt them for the rest of their lives. So the strongest stallions grabbed their axes, hooks, ropes, and wagons, they then made their way into the forest. As they waved goodbye to there families they would come to know that that goodbye would be their last. The trees in this forest were skinny, too skinny to cut they would only produce one piece of lumber each the settlers said. they moved along and as they walked they saw trees that had fallen and become dead, though they weren't small but the settlers weren't satisfied with the quantity.
They wanted to warm their families, but they desired enough wood to buildup the village as well, and so they proceeded further into the forest. As they were nearing the end of the day and the end of their limits, they came across an entrapment of trees in a circle. So the settlers proceeded into the entrapment and found a wondrous and grand tree a “Great” tree. This tree if cut would produce enough lumber to build the town twice as big as they could ever hope for, and even keep them warm throughout the next 3 winters. This tree stood as tall as the sky no maybe even taller the settlers murmured to each other.
The great tree stood looming over all the Neihbrea forest, the strongest stallions tied the hooks to the ropes, then around the tree, and made it braced to be cut. The stallions then proceeded to cut the tree with their axes, and with their amazing strength within minutes sliced through it. As the tree came down the settlers cheered, but this was the sin that cost them everything and in moments upon the trees fall. The trees began to shake and darken, the leaves died and the now gigantic stump arose. Its roots ripping up the ground cracking it upwards then from all around a voice bellowed throughout the forest it said; “Thee tress upon land which grants you kindness and bounty an thine isn't enough. So you dare defile this hallowed ground, and deface our great father. You will all pay dearly for your greed”.
As the voice said the settler ponies paid for their crimes, and were taken by the forest never to be seen again. As quickly as they disappeared the forest quickly shrunk, and became engulfed in mist. Hidden from the greedy souls, that would dare defile the hallowed grounds again. (the voice the settler ponies heard was not Father Trent, but the forest itself. Father Trent is the elder or forefather of all the other trees in the forest. The forest shrinks and surrounds itself in mist to protect the great father, but he does not speak nore appears to the settlers. The only one who sees Father Trent is my OC Einion, but that is another story)
