Of Princesses And Royal Guards

Is this thing on? Hello, my name is New Dawn. I am the daughter of Princess Twilight Sparkle and *crashing noise*. The princess life wasn't for me. When the first of October, five years ago, came around... I-I almost died. It was horrifying, what she did. I don't think I can forgive her.

My full name is New Dawn Sparkle, but, if there are any survivors out there, listening, refer to me as New Dawn, please.

So, I know what you're thinking. Why do this? None of the other survivors probably have radios. Y'know what I say? This is what I'm doing, so deal with it. I lost a lot five years ago, and I just want to find it again. And... if I can't find it... Maybe a new one.

I had a great family. There was Rarity, Gem Leaf, and Sweetie Belle. They were sisters, and some good ones. I only referred to Rarity as an Aunt, because her sisters were too young. Rarity was a designer, Leaf a firework launcher, and Sweetie a singer. They travelled ALOT, striving in their talents, so I didn't see much of them.

Then there was Apple Bloom, Applejack, Big Mac, and Apple Butter. All of them, siblings. They were part of what was known as the Apple Family. Biggest family you'll ever meet, all of them were country folk, save some of the ones that married into it. Only Applejack and Big Mac were really and Aunt and an Uncle, Apple Bloom and Apple Butter were too close to my age.

Ah, and then there was Rainbow Dash, Rainbow Bolt, and Scootaloo. They were... 'siblings' you could say. Scootaloo wasn't really related to them, just adopted into their family. Aunt Rainbow Dash always said, "Blood doesn't define a family. You and I aren't blood, and I'm still your Aunt. Your parents are blood, and they're still family." They all became Wonderbolts, every single one of them.

Oh, and Aunt Fluttershy and Cloud. Probably the shyest family ever. Still, great with nature, despite their pegasus ancestors. Aunt Fluttershy was my babysitter growing up, so I saw her mostly. She always said things like, "You should be nice to those weaker than you." or "Even the most fragile thing can hold great beauty." Oh, and Cloud. I'm... about seventy-five percent sure he had a thing for Leaf. Aunt Flutters went and married Uncle Big Mac, and they had little Crimson Apple. Real cutie. I wonder if they're still alive.

Who could forget Lollipop Swirls and Aunt Pinkie Pie? Aunt Pinkie taught Lollipop Swirls about 'breaking the fourth wall' which is hilarious. They were the most energetic ponies ever. They literally bounced on walls, it was insane. I heard, the first time Discord broke out, Pinkie delayed sealing him away as a statue again because of his 'chocolate rain'. Apparently, the clouds had been made of cotton candy, and they rained chocolate milk. They eventually married, Pinkie and Discord. Little Sugar Weiss was only a couple months old when this all started. I'm not sure about- ugh, I'm getting sentimental.

I guess it's time for my mom. Well, she was Princess Twilight Sparkle, princess of magic. She tried to teach me everything. And by everything, I do mean everything. Very smart, but that wasn't her whole life. She was the best mother ever. Spike was her adopted son, so my big brother. He made good jokes. I wonder what happened to him. *Last I heard, ponies spotted a dragon going west of Canterlot. *the sound of a facehoof can be heard* AND MY DAD!!! How could I forget about him? Sorry Dad, if you're even listening. Or even alive, for that matter. First time my parents met, Dad says Mom could tell from the start it was going to go somewhere. Never really had that spark myself, though.*

And how could I keep forgetting? My mom's family. Aunt Cadence was actually Mom's foal sitter when she was, like, five or something. Aunt Cadence is the Princess Love, and rules the Crystal Kingdom, where love is a necessity for protection. She's nice, though I'd rarely see her. They aren't related by blood, Aunt Cadence married my Uncle Shining Armor. Now, let me tell you something 'bout Uncle Shining. Two words. Royal Guard. I know! It's like when we're to marry, we either marry a royal guard or a princess, it's insane! Well, those two wouldn't have hooked up if it weren't for Mom. Y'know, considering to whole foalsitting- You know! Then there's my grandparents. Night Light and Twilight Velvet. Best. Grandparents. Ever. Really put the grand in it. I only saw them when we visited in Canterlot, though, or when they came to Ponyville. Man, good times. And my Uncle Silver Rite. He did everything there is to do with words. Poetry, novels, legends, translation, you name it! He was the youngest pony I had to call uncle, as he was the same age as Leaf, Apple Butter, Cloud, Lollipop Swirls, and Rainbow Bolt. But he was my actual uncle, so what else was I supposed to call him?

I was born three months before the fall of Celestia, so I never met her. But I did meet Princess Luna. She was amazing. She was my foalsitter when we moved to Canterlot. She told me all about legends and stuff. My favorite had to be the one about Nightmare Moon. When I asked her what exactly Nightmare Moon was, she changed the subject.

So, that's all the insight for now. Every day, I'll give you more, starting at 2 p.m, going for as long as it does. It's not like there's anything else on.
