Just as Celestia had warned, the trio's facade broke the instant midnight hit. Ebony's long dreadlocks nearly choked him when he fell, suddenly bipedal. The thuds coming from the other rooms reassured him he wasn't alone.

"I can't stand!" came a feeble cry. Its owner crawled into the room on his knees moments later. "The ceilings are too short!" The skinny blond looked scared and on the verge of crying. "I don't want to be here ... I want to go home, Bastian ..."

"Shh ... It's Ebony for now, kid. You can stay with me. We'll see if there isn't a way to correct this in the morning ..." Ebony said, stroking Thunder's hair and pulling him close to his chest. "Just go to sleep," he soothed, kissing Thunder on the forehead.


Cadence pulled away from the cracked door and slid against the wall, suddenly out of breath. Humans. Celestia had recruited humans. The audacity! Parading them around like they were natural ponies ... She should have guessed. The Sun monarch had been around for far too long. Her mind was fraying in her old age. It was time for better suited ponies to take over.
