Shining Armor sighed, looking over his Sister as Twilight lay motionless in the hospital bed.
"I'm sorry." The nurse shook her head, "Visiting hours are over sir."
Shining nodded quietly looking to the nurse, "Thanks... Thank you for letting me stay."
The nurse nodded showing Shining to the ward door, before returning to her work station.
Shining stood as the door swung closed peering over the glass window to where Twilight still lay.
"I'll see you tomorrow Twilie..." Shining promised.
Nurse Summer concentrated hard moving the pen across as she filled in the final Sudoku box; carefully back counting out making sure there was no mistakes.
She grinned setting the paper down with a satisfied flourish before looking up to check on her two patients.
In bed one, on the left of the room was Miss Twilight Sparkle and on the right of the room was Mister Low Clouds.
Both has been under her care for several months, deep and unconscious, machines monitoring their breathing and brain waves and heart rate.
"At least the girl has visitors..." Nurse Summer thought looking to them both feeling a twinge of pity for Low Clouds.
He'd been in a cart accident and probably didn't even know it, if he did ever wake up then the police would be very interested in talking to him more.
Time moved slowly in the intensive care ward, milestones were measured in months and years rather than moments.
Low Clouds was reaching a big milestone, a decade here without any response; without any change.
Twilight from what Nurse Summer had gathered was coming up to her forth year here, her brother, sometimes with his girlfriend coming to visit daily still.
Nurse Summer finished pouring herself a cup of tea, sipping on it slowly as the lights around her dimmed for a second.
In a fluster she dropped her tea onto the table before steadying it and counting.
"One elephant, two elephant, th..." She felt her pulse race as she counted the seconds, the lights dimmed further as she started to sweat drop slightly; before there was a comforting buzz of the backup generator humming into life.
She giggled a little stepping out of her office looking to Low Clouds and Twilight Sparkle rolling her eyes.
"That was a pretty close on you two." She joked trotting across to Low clouds, "You mister would have needed manual CPR again!"
Nurse Summer smiled across to Twilight Sparkle, "Would have been something for you to watch at least!"
There was then, much to Nurse Summer's surprise, a loud gasp from Twilight Sparkle as she sat up bolt upright.
Nurse Summer rushed across in amazement as Twilight's eyes flashed open and for the first time in years, she spoke.
"They create a power beyond anything you could imagine." Twilight wheezed her voice quiet and struggling.
Nurse Summer gasped pressing the emergency call button above Twilight's bed as a automated speaker voice started to blurt around the hospital building, "Doctor Alcomb to ward 11, Doctor Alcomb to ward 11."
Nurse Summer leaned in helping Twilight to sit up in the bed listening as she continued to rasp, "Possess the most powerful magic of all: The magic of friendship!"
Nurse Summer took a half step back as Twilight Sparkle started to float above the bed, a deep purple field of magic surrounding her now as her eyes glowed pure white.
"Here and in Equestria it is the only magic that can truly unite us all!" Twilight sounded confident and loud, all traces of her rasping quiet voice instantly vanished.
She floated back down onto the bed covers blinking, the white glowing in her eyes stopping as she looked to Nurse Summer.
"..C..can I have some water?" She croaked a little as she looked to the nurse hopefully.
"I told you before..." Low Clouds sighed sitting up in bed rubbing the back of his head slightly, feeling the new bald spot that wasn't there when he last had the ability to check. He was being questioned by a tired looking police officer as the doctors spun around him and Twilight's bed, test after test being performed as they were unsure of anything.
Twilight blushed as she watched them in bed, slowly the queue of doctors became less as finally it was just Doctor Scott and Nurse Summer in the room.
"Well Miss Sparkle... I'm afraid I can't say how you have made such a remarkable recovery, it's almost as mysterious as what happened in the first place."
"I still feel, not so great doctor." Twilight looked up to him trying to raise her arm watching as it weakly stayed in front of her shaking significantly.
"That is unfortunately one of the effects of long term care, we'll help you back to your feet, make sure you are back into the world." Doctor Scott said cheerily.
Twilight nodded dully, she had been thinking how far behind with her studies she must now be.
"But, first there's someone here to see you." Doctor Scott beamed stepping away as Shining Armor rushed up to Twilight's bed.
"T...twilie!" Shining gasped seeing his sister sitting up for the first time in years leaving his a confused looking girlfriend at the door.
"Shining you came!" Twilight blushed slightly cuddling into her brother.
"Every day, I wanted you to have a friendly face when you woke up." Shining held Twilight's hand softly in his.
Twilight blushed softly giving Shining as strong a squeezes as she could muster.
"Who is this as well? A Girlfriend?" Twilight giggled looking to the girl as she stepped closer.
"Hey Twilight..." Cadence replied as Twilight's memory rushed to catch up, back when she was just 5 years old and had the best babysitter EVER.
"Cadee?!" Twilight squeeed a little giggling looking across as she smiled.
"Told you she would remember me Shining." Cadence grinned walking up beside Shining.
"I do! I really do, so you are going to start dating with my brother huh?" Twilight beamed loving the idea of seeing Cadence around more often.
Cadence looked to Shining Armor for just a moment, reading what to do next before she smiled that loving happy smile she always had, letting her hand slip up onto the bed as Twilight saw a familiar ring.
Her grandmother's wedding ring, sitting on Cadence's ring finger.
Twilight felt herself bubbling with excitement, "You got married?"
Shining Armor looked to Cadence and nodded before smiling back to Twilight.
"We has a small civil wedding, we wanted to wait until you were better to have a big wedding." Cadence said looking to Shining lovingly.
Twilight sighed happily blushing all the more, only to have her thoughts interrupted by the police officer across the room.
"Mister Low Clouds, I'm sorry; I believe you that you have no memory of the events but policy is policy." The officer had raised his voice, taking a more dominant stance, "You will have to accompany me to the station, in this bed if needs be."
Doctor Scott sighed and walked across to beside Low Clouds, "I'll accompany you officer."
The police officer nodded softly as Doctor Scott ensured Low Clouds was unplugged and started to push the bed.
"Mister Armor?" Nurse Summer said smiling, "I just have a few tests to run on Twilight then I can release her if you and your girlfriend would like to wait outside?"
Shining Armor nodded, "I'll see you soon Twilie!"
Shining leant in and gave his sister a little kiss on the cheek before leaving the room with Cadence.
Nurse Summer let out a little sigh shuffling closer to Twilight, "Miss Sparkle... I don't have any more tests I just have to speak to you." She said quietly.
"O..oh?" Twilight asked curiously, a little worried.
"Just before you woke up... something really weird happened and there was floating and glowing and..." Nurse Summer looked directly at Twilight.
"I waited until you were here alone because it's as crazy as it sounds, but I wanted to. No I needed to tell you you mentioned; the magic of friendship."
Twilight raised an eyebrow curious, "Friendship? I don't really have any friends."
Nurse Summer nodded sadly, "No get well soon cards, no letters from class mates, only your big brother and his girlfriend visiting, I had guessed."
Twilight felt herself sink into the bed knowing it was all true.
"I think you should try make some when you are back at school, maybe you can learn more about what happened to you?" Nurse Summer suggested.
Twilight nodded sighing quietly, "I ... think you are right."
Twilight was helped from her bed into a wheelchair by Nurse Summer and wheeled out to where Cadence and Shining Armor were, the nurse seeing the slightly familiar face of Velvet Sparkle, Twilight's Mother appearing beaming as she rushed to her newly awakened daughter.
"Thanks for staying Miss Sparkle." Nurse Summer grinned, "Hopefully it will be a very long time if we do see each other again."
Twilight giggled looking up to the nurse nodding before shooting the nurse a very serious look, "I'll write you a letter, letting you know how I am getting on."
Nurse Summer nodded wandering back into the now empty ward feeling stunned and slightly drained.
In the intensive care ward, milestones were measured in months and years rather than moments. But sometimes it was the moments that mattered most.
