Almost everyone, but not Twilight Sparkle. No, she couldn't fall asleep, how could she? She had just spent the whole day with one of her many friends, Rainbow Dash. No, Twilight Sparkle couldn't sleep, all she could think about was that rainbow-haired girl. "Oh Rainbow, why can't I just tell you my feelings?" Twilight said softly to herself. Twilight lay there, dreaming about her friend. Dreaming of holding hands, dreaming of walking together through the town, dreaming of sleeping next to one another, dreaming of kissing. Just then, there was a knock on the door. "Oh come on," Twilight whispered to herself, "someone's knocking at this hour?" Twilight walked downstairs and opened the door. "Hi Applejack," she said. "Howdy Twilight! I just came by to ask ya about somethin'," Applejack responded. "Oh really? Well what is it?" "I think it's better if we discuss it, inside," So they went inside, Twilight didn't know what Applejack could possibly want to talk about at this hour. "Is this table fine?" Twilight asked. "Yeah it's fine," Applejack said sitting down. "Listen Twi, I've been noticing strange behavior lately," "What do you mean?" "Well, the way you act around Rainbow Dash," Applejack said. Twilight's heart started pounding faster in her chest. "W-what do y-you mean?" asked Twilight. "Well the way you're shaking is kind of a give away," "I-I don't know w-what you're t-talking about," "Don't lie Twilight, I'm very good at catching liars, being the Element of Honesty and all," Twilight thought about this, and decided to submit. "Okay, f-fine, you caught me, I-I have a c-crush on R-Rainbow Dash," Twilight said. "It's okay Twilight, you can stop shaking now," Applejack said, noticing Twilight was slightly shaking. Applejack chuckled at this. They sat there until Twilight wasn't shaking anymore. "So Twilight, you alright now?" Applejack asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," Twilight said as she got up and started walking towards the stairs. "Sorry, I have to go to bed," "Alright well, is it alright if I sleep down here tonight? I pretty tired after that walk, and I think it'd be pretty nice to get away from the family once in a while," "Yeah, it's fine," Twilight said as she walked upstairs. "Goodnight," Applejack called. "Goodnight," Twilight responded, still shaken from the talk. Twilight fell into her bed and instantly fell asleep. When The morning came Twilight woke up to the smell of waffles. Twilight walked downstairs and saw Applejack in the kitchen cooking. "You're still here?" Twilight asked. "Well I thought I'd do somethin' nice since I made you all nervous last night," Applejack chuckled remembering Twilight's somewhat overreaction. "Yeah, last night," Twilight said. "Are those waffles I smell?" Spike said coming down the stairs. All three of them sat at the the table eating their waffles. "Wait a minute, why are you here Applejack?" Spike asked. "Oh I just came to talk to Twilight about her crush on Ra-, I mean have a nice sleepover with Twilight," Applejack caught herself. ("Curse you Element of Honesty,") Applejack thought to herself. "Wait a minute, what were you saying about a crush?" Spike asked. "Nothing, I didn't say anything about a crush," Applejack lied. "No, you did!" "Alright I did! But it's not my place to tell ya, it's Twilight's," Applejack said. Spike looked at Twilight. "Who is it, Twilight?" Spike asked. "None of your business, Spike," "Oh come on!" "No Spike!" "Come on Twilight! I told you who I had a crush on!" Spike said. Twilight remembered when Spike told her and Pinkie about his crush on Rarity, although it was obvious and didn't surprise Twilight, Spike still had a point. "Okay fine, but you cannot tell anyone, only I can, got it?" "Yes I get it," Spike said excitedly. "Alright," Twilight breathed in, and out, "I have a crush on Rainbow Dash," "Rainbow Dash? Wait a minute, aren't you both girls? Isn't that kind of weird?" "No Spike, it is not weird at all, it's perfectly natural," Twilight said somewhat angrily, annoyed at herself for not teaching Spike about sexuality sooner. "Oh okay," Spike said slightly shocked at the slight anger, "I guess that's cool then," "Spike, we're going to have a talk about sexuality later, you're old enough now," "Oh boy, I can't wait," Spike said sarcastically. "Anyway, I'm gonna go do my chores, see ya later Applejack!" Spike said as he put his plate in the sink and walked out of the kitchen. "See ya, Spike!" Applejack responded. "Well Twilight I guess I'll see ya later. But between you and me, you might want to ask some other friends of yours for help on telling Rainbow your feelings, because you're gonna have to sooner or later. You can come by anytime to talk to me if ya want. See ya!" And Applejack left. Twilight sat there for about 30 seconds before deciding ("You know what, I will ask my other friends for advice!") "Spike I'm heading out to visit some friends, I'll be back in a while!" she called to Spike. "Alright, bye!" he called back. And Twilight was out the door. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: A Logical Choice //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: A Logical Choice Twilight's Secret Love Chapter 2: A Logical Choice As Twilight walked out the door she realized one thing, she didn't know who to talk to first. Fluttershy wouldn't be the best because she's shy and probably hasn't had much experience in love, Pinkie is too insane and would give crazy advice, Applejack lives sort of far away but she could ask her later, but ah! Rarity! Of course, Rarity seems like the kind of girl who would know a thing or two about love and could give good advice. It was settled, Twilight would ask Rarity for advice. As Twilight walked towards Rarity's boutique she noticed it was active. ("Gosh darn it, I need to speak to Rarity in private!") Twilight thought to herself. Twilight walked inside and noticed it was only Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy in the boutique. ("No wonder it seemed so active, Pinkie Pie,"). ("But wait, I could take this opportunity to ask all three of them about this!") Twilight thought, but seemed unsure, almost too nervous to ask at all. Twilight looked for every ounce of courage she had and decided to tell them all. "Pinkie! Fluttershy! I'm glad you're here, I needed to talk to you and Rarity about something," Twilight said. "Oh really dear? Well do tell!" Rarity said. "Uh, I think it's better if we discuss it at a table?" Twilight responded, faking a smile. All four went to a table and sat down. Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie could visibly see Twilight shaking. "Whoa there Twilight! You're gonna cause an earthquake!" Pinkie said jokingly. Twilight smiled slightly and after 30 seconds of uncomfortable silence stopped shaking. "Ok, I have a secret to share," Twilight said. "Ooh secrets! I love secrets!" Pinkie responded. "But you can't tell anyone, only I can," "Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!" Pinkie responded, doing her Pinkie promise. Rarity and Fluttershy responded by doing the same. This made Twilight chuckle a little. "Alright, I need advice," Twilight said. "I have a crush on Rainbow Dash," They all looked shocked for a second, not expecting to hear this from Twilight, she seemed too, innocent. "Well Twilight," Rarity started, "you've come to the right place. I have the perfect advice, get some flowers, maybe wear some perfume, get some makeup on and take her out for a nice dinner," "Oh please Rarity, Dashie wouldn't like that overly girly stuff!" Pinkie said, and she was right. "What you gotta do Twilight is throw a big party! With food, drinks, friends, and then when we put on the music, dance with her and ask her out!" "I'm not sure that'd work," Twilight said. "Um, if I may make a suggestion," Fluttershy said. She was so quiet they almost forgot she was there. "Why don't you just tell her? I mean if she likes you back then it'll all work out, right?" Twilight considered this, and it was the most logical thing she had heard. Who knew Fluttershy was a pool of knowledge? "You know what, I think I'll do that!" Twilight responded. "Thanks Fluttershy!" And Twilight left. ("If I'm gonna ask her out I better make sure I'm ready,") Twilight thought to herself. ("I can schedule a sleepover this weekend with everyone and it won't seem suspicious, and I'll feel more comfortable,"). Twilight then walked to the library. "Spike! Schedule a sleepover with the girls this weekend and send them all invitations!" Twilight called to Spike as she walked into the door. "Alright!" Spike called back from upstairs. After all the invitations were finished and sent, Spike was about to go back to his chores. "Wait Spike," Twilight said. "What is it, Twilight?" "It's time for sex education," "Oh no," Spike said, not looking forward to this. Then they talked for a few hours and Twilight offered all her information to Spike. She didn't want him to continue thinking homosexuality was weird, after all. Especially since she was going to ask Rainbow Dash out this weekend! "Okay, I get it now," Spike said, wanting the sex education to be over with, "I won't think any wrong of you for liking girls, jeez," "Good, lesson over," Twilight said. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: The Sleepover //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: The Sleepover Twilight's Secret Love Chapter 3: The Sleepover The day of the sleepover came quicker than Twilight would have liked. She had made Spike write down on Rainbow's invitation that the sleepover began an hour later than everyone else's. There was a knock on the door. "Hi Twilight!" Pinkie Pie said as she walked inside, followed by Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack. "Where's Rainbow at?" Applejack asked. "Oh, I wrote the time for an hour late," Twilight said. "Why's that?" "I wanted to let you all know, I'm having this sleepover to confess to her. I just wanted to let you guys know before she got here. I'm nervous, as surprising as that is," Twilight told them. "Oh it's alright dear, we're here to support you," Rarity said. "Yeah, no matter what happens we're here for you," Fluttershy said, smiling. "Thanks guys," Twilight said, catching Fluttershy's contagious smile. In what seemed like an eternity, an hour passed as they sat there, talking, and waiting. Suddenly, as without warning, there was a knock on the door. "Oh no," Twilight said, starting to shake intensely. Rarity started talking to her softly, and comforting her, allowing her to calm down. Applejack decided she would get up and go answer the door for the nervous girl. "Hey Applejack, hey guys!" Rainbow Dash said, happily. "Am I late? I usually beat you guys here!" "Nah, you're right on time! We just came here early," Applejack said, "We wanted to beat ya here for once," "Ah I see," Rainbow Dash said. "So what are we gonna do first?" The group played games, made dinner, and played some more games. Eventually, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie, and Applejack looked at each other understandingly, and decided it was time for Twilight to confess. All four looked at Twilight as Rainbow Dash was not paying attention, she was trying to figure out a word to put on the Scrabble board. Twilight looked at them and nodded her head. "I think I'm gonna go fix myself a snack in the kitchen," Applejack said. "Me too!" Pinkie said energetically. "Me as well," Rarity said. "I think I could go for a snack too," Fluttershy said. "Ya'll just keep playing without us now!" Applejack called from the kitchen. "Alright, but your scores gonna suck!" Rainbow Dash replied jokingly. Twilight sat there, nervously, trying to figure out a way to confess to Rainbow. Suddenly, as Rainbow Dash put down the word "Rainbow" (how clever of her) on the Scrabble board, Twilight found a way. She had the letters I, V, E, U, Y, O, and L. There was an L directly below the word "Rainbow", so she placed O, V, and E down to make the word "Love". Then Rainbow, not really thinking anything of this, put down another word on the other side of the board. This made Twilight's plan fall into place. There was an O below the word "Love" and she put the Y and the U down, making "You". Before Rainbow Dash could start her turn again, Twilight placed her I between the words "Rainbow" and "Love" making that part of the board say Rainbow I Love You At first, Rainbow Dash didn't notice, she was confused as to why Twilight put the I down after she had already placed a word. But when she did notice, she blushed. Slowly, she turned to Twilight, who was also noticeably blushing. "T-Twilight?" Rainbow said softly, "D-Do you," "Yes," Twilight said, "I love you," Rainbow Dash sat there, shocked. She didn't know what to think, her emotions were confused. "Do you, love me back?" Twilight asked nervously. Rainbow Dash didn't know at that time. She didn't really know anything, she was still in somewhat of a shocked state. But the more she thought about it, the more she leaned towards one answer. After the many years they've known each other, Rainbow Dash always did have some feelings for her. "Yes Twilight, I do love you," Rainbow Dash said. The two of them leaned closer to each other, and in what seemed like a magical moment, they kissed. Fireworks went off in Twilight's mind, they always said the first kiss is magical, but it was only now that Twilight believed them. The other four girls in the kitchen stood there, smiling. The kiss lasted for a good minute or so, but little did they know, Spike was at the top of the staircase, watching them. He only thought one thing to himself, "God that's hot," Later, after everyone had left and Twilight had a new girlfriend, she decided to write to Princess Celestia about this experience. "Spike, take a note please," Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned what true love feels like. Cadance had always been the one spreading love, and today I felt what that feels like. I asked my dear friend, Rainbow Dash if she loved me as I loved her, and she said yes. It was a better feeling than anything in the world. This also taught me an important lesson about friendship. All our other friends stood behind us, and supported us even though we're both female and some deem that "weird" or "unnatural". My friends also said to me that they'd be there for me even if things went wrong with Dash. But luckily, nothing went wrong. Today I felt the strongest friendship ever, love. I'm glad I was able to stay here with them and study the magic of friendship, because now I know what true friendship is. It's where your friends are with you no matter what.
