The old days of the new country of Equestria, rested the last young Alicorn sisters in their bedroom. Young Celestia’s mane and tail were powdery pink, long and wavy, Luna’s mane and tail were icy blue and short.
Luna got herself comfortable in her sister’s warm embrace and looked up at her, “Can you tell me a story?” she asked hopefully.
“Okay.” Celestia looked thoughtful for a moment and perked up when she thought of one. “Once upon a time, lived a lone stallion in his little cottage home. Every day, all day, he done nothing but help his neighbours. He didn’t have any family to take care of and love, but everypony he helped calls him family. He was offered to live with a few family members, but every time they asked, he denied.”
“Why?” Luna asked, wondering.
“Because he was waiting for his special pony. Now, every night, he goes up a small hill and look at the bright moon. One night, a little filly went up to him on top of the hill and sat beside him. “Are you okay?” she asked.
“Yes” he answered and looked down at her, “What brings you here?”
“You look lonely.” she answered. “You like the moon?”
He looked up again, “Yes.”
After the filly thought for a moment, she started galloping back down the hill. The filly came back with a bucket of water and rested it down beside him. “Look in.” she said to him.
He looked in the bucket of water and was surprised to see the moon in the bucket. He looked at the filly again and said, “Thank you.” He picked her up and hugged her tightly.” As she said it, she hugged her little sister tightly, causing Luna to giggle.
“The end.” she said and kissed Luna’s forehead.
“What happened after?” she asked.
Celestia smiled, “Well, the stallion then lived with her and followed him every night up the hill so he won’t be alone anymore.” she answered.
Luna smiled and cuddled up to her sister, “Goodnight.” she said sleepily and fell asleep in her sister’s loving embrace.
“Good evening, Tia.” She looked towards the open window and saw their friend Discord coming in and closing the window.
“Good evening, Discord.” she replied and pulled up the blanket for herself and Luna. “What brings you here?” she asked and looked at him.
“Oh, a little bored,” he got on the end of the bed and rested down, “And a little cold.” he answered.
“You can sleep here for tonight, but remember in the morning.”
“Yeah, yeah. Get out and don’t get seen.” he rolled over to his side and sighed in relief, “This is more comfortable then tree branches and hard rocks.” he said and rested on his back with a smile.
“Well enjoy it while it lasts, Discord. Goodnight.” Celestia said as she got herself comfortable to go to sleep.
“Goodnight, Tia.” he replied and started going to sleep on his side, snoring.
In another world, rested a human hanging on a hammock, looking up at the night sky, specifically, the full moon.
His home was a small shack, close to the forest’s edge.
He then heard someone running, getting louder and louder. “Hi, pops!” a little girl with a dress went up to him with a bowl of water; “Wanna drink the moon?” she asked and showed him the wooden bowl.
“What?” he said, looking at her, a thin blanket covering his body.
“Look,” she showed him the water filled bowl, “The moon’s in the water.” she said.
He leaned in and accidently fell forward and reached out for her, only to spill the water on him. He groaned, face first on the dirt ground. He got on his hands and knees and wiped his face, trying to get the dirt off, “Sorry.” he apologized and got up to get the dirt off his cloths.
He looked at her and she had her hands on his hips, looking at him. He just knew she was saying “Really?” in her mind. She sighed and grabbed the bowl from the ground and looked around. She found the bucket of water near the entrance of his home and went over to grab it. She carried it back to him and pointed down at the bucket, “See. The moon’s there now.” she said.
“Oh, I guess it is,” he squatted down to take a closer look, “Nice.”
She put the bowl behind her, getting a little nervous, “Um, you know… um… y-you can come and live with me and grandma… i-if you want.” she said.
He grabbed the bucket, stood up and looked at her, “You know what. Sense you gave me a great gift, I’ll move in with you and your grandmother tomorrow morning.” he said to her.
She smiled brightly and threw herself to hug him, “Have a goodnight, pops.” She said to him.
He wrapped an arm around her, “You too, Vanessa.” he said to her. “Thanks for the gift again. It means a lot to me.” he said to her.
They separated, she squealed happily, hopping up and down and started skipping away, humming a little tune to herself.
He went back to his hammock and got himself comfortable, covering himself with the blanket. He then looked down at the bucket of water, seeing the full moon just arms length away from him. It used to be so far, and only thought the only way to reach it was to die and go up, now all he has to do is go fill up a bucket with water and there it is. He smiled and closed his eyes to go to sleep.
The next morning, he packed up of what’s left of his belongings. He then heard a knock at the entrance. He looked over his shoulders and saw Vanessa at the door, smiling, “Morning, pops!” she greeted.
“Good morning.” He replied and carried up his things on his back like a backpack and turned to her with a smile.
He followed her to their home, the girl skipping happily, leading the way. She opened the door for them and yelled, “Grandma! He’s here!”
Then an elderly women looked up from her knitting and smiled at him, “Oh it’s nice to see you again, dear.” she waved him over, “Come over, dear. Leave your bag there and come over.” She continued to wave.
He set the bag down and walked over to her and kneeled down. She put a hand on his shoulder, “I’m not going to last very long anymore, and little Vanessa needs a new guardian when I’m gone. She doesn’t have any other relatives around and she looks up to you. Can you take care of her when I’m gone?” she whispered to him as the girl played with her doll.
“Of course, ma’am.” he answered; “I’ll do my best.” they both smiled at each other.
They then heard screaming outside their home, yelling, and hooves galloping. He quickly stood up and went over to the window to look out.
He peeked out and saw armored soldiers going around, killing and harming the residents of the small village.
